Armed men attacked the Dallas Police HQ and also placed several explosives around the building. One of the bombs exploded when a bomb robot tried to move the device. The attackers tried to get away in what is called a “Zombie Apocalypse Assault Vehicle and Troop Transport”
Here's a description from the manufacturer
"This full armored zombie busting vehicle features convenient gun ports so no zombie juice touches you during a mass zombie take down. It also has benches in the back so you can take turns resting during long Zombie sieges. The tactical step boards are installed for when you only need swords and axes for drive by mow downs. The bumpers are made of reinforced steel tubing, so no dents from smashing zombie heads! It’s full armor plated and has bullet proof windows just in case you run into other zombie hunting hordes who might try to take this bad boy from you. Like anything, there is a price attached to this fine piece of zombie fighting machinery"
SWAT disabled the van with a .50 cal rifle but the standoff is still under way. Crazy stuff
A standoff is continuing between Dallas police and a suspect in an armoured vehicle after gunmen opened fire on the city’s police headquarters just after midnight.
The suspect, who has given his name as James Boulware, is currently surrounded by police in a fast-food restaurant car park some 10 miles from Dallas police HQ after a dramatic chase involving dozens of police cars.
Police chief David Brown said there could have been as many as four suspects involved in the initial attack, according to witness reports. No police have been hurt, but Boulware has told police negotiators that he is injured.
Following the attack, police discovered a number of suspect packages around their HQ. One exploded when a bomb-disposal robot tried to move it. A second was detonated with a controlled explosion. Police dogs are still searching the area for more devices.
After police responded to the initial shots fired at their headquarters, the suspect identifying himself as Boulware fled in the armoured van, ramming a police car and firing shots on the way. It is believed that the van he is driving could be a vehicle sold on eBay earlier this month as a “Zombie Apocalypse Assault Vehicle and Troop Transport”.
“It’s full armor plated and has bullet proof windows just in case you run into other zombie hunting hordes who might try to take this bad boy from you,” the sale listing said.
Police say they do not yet know the motive for the attack, but Boulware is known to police. He was arrested in 2013 after threatening to launch a killing spree against his family, churches and schools.

Here is a picture of the scene where a bomb disposal robot attempted to move a suspect package found outside Dallas Police HQ. The bag exploded, but no officers were hurt. One other suspect package has been disposed off with a controlled detonation.
Officers are now scouring the site with bomb-detecting sniffer dogs to see if there are any more booby-trapped devices in the building.

The windscreen of a Dallas Police squad car is peppered with bullet holes after the attack this morning. It’s not clear if this was the car the suspect rammed as he made his getaway from the scene.
There is as yet no update on the standoff which is still continuing in fast-food restaurant car park 10 miles away.

A row has broken out on Twitter over whether the police haven’t killed the suspect yet because he’s white. There is also speculation that James Boulware’s race is the reason the attack has not been described as terrorism.
Another Twitter user says it’s likely that officers haven’t attacked the truck because they are afraid it is packed with explosives, rather than because of the colour of the suspect’s skin.

Dallas police have released some pictures of the damage to their headquarters caused by the gun attack which began just after midnight local time. According to witnesses, several gunmen opened fire on the building after pulling up in what was described as an armoured vehicle.
21:23 Dallas Police HQ is now clear of suspect devices - police
Chief David Brown earlier told reporters his officers had found four suspect packages around the police station. One exploded as officers attempted to move it with a robot. Bomb disposal experts detonated second one that was found underneath a police van. One bag was confirmed to have contained pipe bombs, but it is not known whether this was either of the two that were detonated.

The armoured van used in the attack on Dallas police HQ is believed to be a “Zombie Apocalypse Assault Vehicle and Troop Transport” sold last month by Georgia-based Jenco Sales Inc.
There is no confirmation of the link, but the van used by the Dallas suspect also has a Georgia licence plate. Twitter users have compared pictures of the van used in this morning’s attack with ones on its sales listing on eBay. A Facebook post by Jenco advertising the vehicle states:
This full armored zombie busting vehicle features convenient gun ports so no zombie juice touches you during a mass zombie take down. It also has benches in the back so you can take turns resting during long Zombie sieges. The tactical step boards are installed for when you only need swords and axes for drive by mow downs. The name given by the suspect, James Boulware, is the same name as a man who was arrested in 2013 after threatening to launch a killing spree against his family, churches and schools, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Boulware was taken into custody on two felony warrants from Dallas County after he obtained firearms, ammunition and body armour, but the case against him was dismissed last year, the paper said.

Bomb disposal experts have detonated the suspicious device found earlier beneath a police van in the car park of the Dallas police headquarters. No news yet on the suspicious package discovered at a nearby local police station.
20:48 Dallas SWAT team used high-powered rifle to disable "armoured" van
A tweet from Dallas police says that officers used a .50 calibre rifle to disable the van that the attackers used in their assault on the police HQ this morning.
The standoff continues at a fast-food restaurant car park in Hutchins, a city about 10 miles south of Dallas. But the tweet suggests that officers have armed themselves with serious weaponry; 50-calibre bullets are typically used in long-range sniper rifles and vehicle-mounted machine guns.
Crazyness. The fact that is was organized this way and used a Zombie Apocalypse vehicle makes you think white, but it's bizarre regardless. Keep on the news feed, Optional, good reading.
Epic fail to say the least. I'm glad no one is hurt but this guy tried everything in the book and didn't get a single one Bombs, A Team van, and a pair of wiley x wraparounds unreal
Unfreakingbelievable... I mean, beyond belief.. Is this what we have to look forward to? Everyday it's some nut job believing he can change everything by harming innocent people,us, your neighbor, your Mom, Dad, sister, brother, son, daughter, Wife or husband... The kicker is, because of our legal system he will never be put out in the yard, let prison law take over, he will be in solitary where he will bitch, moan and complain about how unjust prison is... In the immortal words of former Mayor Jerry Springer, " Take care of yourself and each other."
