Knicks and Lakers Both Pursuing Derek Fisher as Coach

Knicks' Phil Jackson has a brief phone conversation with Fisher and they will meet face-to-face next week. Lakers' GM Mitch Kupchak is also expected to meet with Fish, although nothing firm has been set up there yet.

    Cannot win without good players

Fisher just doing it for money, he knows he cannot win at either place

Lakers have a better future with those picks. Knicks are hopeless.

Knicks only want Fisher because he will be a puppet under Phil Jackson, No clue why the Lakers would have slighest of interests in Fisher as a franchise that needs to win now and will be making a big splash in free agency next summer. Their better off bringing in an established coach who can turn things around.

Will Fisher use his kid's cancer to get out of another contract if the team starts losing?

    Both of these jobs suck.
Fisher would never go to a bad team to coach.
Look at his track record as a a player.
When team decline, he bails, then goes to a better team.
And let's not forget his joke of an excuse he used to get out of Utah.
Fkn guy used his kid's cancer as a bullshit reason to leave.
He is definitely not a good prospect to run your team either way.

Said it before. I don`t believe there is more than a dozen dudes who can actually be succesful being the "HEAD Coach"
of an NBA team. Tons of guys can be #2,3,4 etc. but I look around the league and laugh my a** off at some of the head coaches.
Same thing with the NFL. MLB seems to have more qualified candidates. No clue in NHL.

Anyone who has played or watched hoops for more than 5 minutes has to realise OKC runs a Junior High offense.
Look what Doc did with the Clips and think what he could have done with OKC??

definitely has character issues, would be a huge risk hiring him as a coach right away, no way the Lakers are dumb enough to go after him.

    Yup.
Just another reason why the NBA is a joke these days.
All because of the biggest piece of shit on the planet, LEBRON.
Now it's just a bunch of fairy-diva's who don't want to work for it to win. They want to just run to good teams and scam to get them together in the process.
    Can't stand the NBA anymore.

Both rosters and front offices are trainwrecks...Steve Kerr was the smartest guy in the NBA when he ran as fast as he could to Golden State

Thinking somebody with experience will do a better job...

he would take a few years to even be half good...

Clearly Fisher should take the job coaching at either place. Guy's playing career is over.

The first time we get to see Phil fail. Of course he doesn't have a team with two to three superstars now but he can just blame it on Fish if it doesn't work out. I wish he would coach them himself but he would rather have a pawn to do it for him and not tarnish his legacy.
