Are all touts a scam?
Are any of these guys legit? I hear some are honest and ok,but are the others just manipulating their results?
Its a huge industry, I am not speaking of the phone guys but about the online sites, there are a ton of them
Besides the well known scammers, do some of the smaller guys as a whole do they provide a useful service?
How about free picks?
If any service was legit... we'd all be living in 500k homes.

Paying a tout is the dumbest thing a gambler can do.
There isn't a single angle you can come up with that would make it smart.

Most touts are con-men who are just playing mugs both sides of the same game. There ARE guys who are legit who would rather sell picks with a long term win-rate than have to suffer the emotional and financial swings associated with gambling. If you have 100k roll and can win at 55% ATS you are limited to wagering about $5k a game with an ev of $250 a game. If you can make even half that selling your picks then you should do so. The only issue is guys who buy picks want to win at 75% and have no discipline actually getting a good #.

My point of view though is that these expert cappers are very pricey and i personally would rather have the money that i'm paying the tout to put on a wager my self.
The other issue i have is the # of plays these touts promote...
if i was paying a tout i would want a tout that maybe only gave 2 to 3 plays a month that hit at 80% or higher.
no capper out there can pick winners daily but if you are a spot bettor and just go big on 1 or 2 plays a month you can be a bookies worst nightmare.

Paying someone to tell me what they THINK might happen in something as dynamic as sports betting just seems like a complete waste of money to me.

No reason to ever pay money for something you are favored to lose with betting to begin with (Unless you're betting MLB which you can consistently beat every year).
You can find guys like Brock Landers to fade and profit, or tail Benny in MLB hahahahahahaha.
Internet has ruined that whole scam.
Those guys used to make a ton back in the day though. It was the most wonderful pyramid scheme ever for football.
I know guys who have worked for the companies, pretty funny stuff how they did it.

same thing in the trading world - avoid the middle like the plague. go extremely high frequency to increase MAR/Sharpe ratios, or bet a couple times a month and HIT IT VERY HARD.
all the guys i know who have really good and consistent performance ratios over a long time are either very high or very low frequency bettors.
one guy i know only waits for the weather pattern to change at Wrigley Field or San Diego's park. Then he bets only the over/under. from all the times we chatted, he has only missed ONCE in the last 3 years i have known him, and he is the ONLY guy i would tail in this situation.
the other guy i know bets almost EVERY game every day in MLB, and his average winning line is above +100 with a 55% win rate. that definitely dampens the drawdowns.

On a serious note, if these guys were so good at capping they wouldn't be trying to make a living charging you for their picks they'd be killing the books and relaxing. I think if you want to follow picks SBR is one of the best places to do so there are some great cappers on here who post their picks and the fact that they are risking their own money as well says a lot.

yeah some are legit. i mean it is what it is. you pay for someone elses picks. the key is knowing who to trust.
i spend a lot of time on this site so i know who to listen to and who is full of shit.
Trace- excellent NFL capper
Benny Big nuts- best MLB capper
Louisville kid and T-Wizzle- best NCAA capper
Most touts are legit.
Best way to find out is to buy a year subscription to about 10-20 of them
