Buying pts parlays pay much better than teasers in basketball.

Why would you ever tease if your book lets you but pts in parlays?

    4.5 pt teaser Suns ov 198.5/Rockets ov 213 100 pays 90.

I can parlay buying down to ov 196 and ov 210 and 100 pays 104.

    Parlay Rockets ov 213 -169/Suns ov 198 -185 100 pays 146.

Yes, you'll see a lot of those situations.
Most will tell you teasers are sucker plays except for football Wong's, which have become tougher to play.

You'll see value vs. teasers often by parlaying ML fav's where the tease would have brought you close to a pick'em.

That's where you have to do a little time working the numbers, cause if the ML gets overinflated, (where the spread is not moving with same proportion), the tease to both teams - 1/2 may be more profitable.

I see, it only pays like that with totals.

    Right, totals have no ML.

You should know though, it is VERY -EV (meaning don't ever do it) to tease a total. (Hoops or Football).

I know how tempting it can be, especially if you play mostly overs, but it really is not close to a smart move.

Just playing around with it. I think gives a good oppertunity to hit some nice payouts with some generous lines.

So lets look at your play.

You need to hit a 7 team parlay to be paid about 10-1. (risking $20 to win $201).

If you didn't buy the points, you would only have to win a 4 team parlay to get paid the same.
    Actually risking $17 will pay $208. (12-1).

If you do it for the 'action' and like to see a big payout, use your $20 to play four separate $5 five team parlays that will pay $121 each.
Or play two $8 five teamers that will pay $195 each, and you may win both!

Which way gives you the best shot AND gives you the feeling of action, yours or mine?

Also with yours, if you lose an early game the whole ticket is shot, with mine you can stagger the action and enjoy the whole day before your world comes crashing down on you! :-)

Im not not playing that. Just a sample play, I was thinking of just playing a 2 teamer selling pts like this.

Selling pts is a different story, though you're still 'paying' a big premium.

But at least with your example above the upside is great, and there's only two games to win.

    Good luck
