    i always thought the regular season was way too long anyways, so 48 or 50 games always seemed like the right thing.

    Oilers 12/1.....if they had a solid goalie I would bet that....short season benefits their young team. Canucks have to win this season or next....I have a feeling a canadian team finally wins a Cup.....been awhile.....93 Habs.

    Not sure why you think a Canadian team is due to win. It's not like the players on the teams are all Canadians. Needless to say a team with a lot of North American players will win though.

    As for the Oilers, even with a semi-competent goalie, they don't have the physical strength to win enough playoff games. Veteran defensemen will absolutely destroy them in the corners and in front of the net, kids won't know what hit them.

    I think the team that wins it this year will be the team with the roster most similar to the past few seasons. With such a short season there will be almost no time to develop chemistry so you are going to go with what you know.

    VAN is still too soft, MIN and NYR will need more time to gel as a team, I'd go with PIT, CHI, or BOS to win it. Maybe even DET but with the loss of Lidstrom, not sure how the patch up that big of a hole in such little time. Will need Howard to be a Vezina winner to get it done.

    team with best value is the panthers,anyone watch them out play the devils in the playofffs last year ?They have humberdeu as a nice addition and they are paying 125 /1. This team has 4 lines of solid grinders perfect for playoffs.

    Am I the only one who finds Caps 25-1 pretty enticing? I might take some of that... Very good up front, that doesn't change, plus they added another playmaker in Ribeiro.

    Holtby made an impression during the playoffs last season. Between him and Neuvirth, they look mighty fine in goal. Carlson and Alzner coming along nicely too on D.

    They've done alot to add character & grit, acquiring guys like Troy Brouwer and Joel Ward. Ovy, Backstrom et al. feeded from those guys' emotion in their Round 1 upset vs Boston and in Round 2 vs NYR.
