Idiot was just on the radio crediting Mike Singeltary with the 49ers success last year. Well he instilled discipline on that team blah blah blah. Why are you crediting him Tom? Is there any special reason ???
The guy was an awful awful coach stuck in the 80's. Run the ball, play good defense, win ugly games 10-6. Here's a newsflash, they changed the rules, the NFL is a passing league now. It's throw the ball and pressure the other teams quarterback.
The NFL is a thinking man's game. You win your games based on executing the game plans you designed on Monday/Tuesday and practiced all week. A big motivational speech before the game has little to nothing to do with winning and losing the game. Yelling at guys on the sidelines is a small portion of being a coach. It's about surrounding yourself with winners and game planning, not bashing your top players on the sidelines and saying we "just need to play harder". That's barbarian. You win based on X's and O's and not hitting the other team harder.
Singeltary was an awful awful coach. The only reason it wasn't super apparent to everybody was because the roster had that much talent and the rest of the division was that bad. He was coaching a 12-4 team to 6-10 records.
On a larger issue ESPN needs to revise their affirmative action policy. It's awful.
