Once again Bryant shows his genius by getting Nash

Bryant calls all the shots in LA. He ordered Shaq to leave town and the organization thought Kobe was more valuable.

Kobe demanded a trade for a big man and got Gasol.

Now he goes out and gets Nash.

On the fence here, I do think this makes the Lakers better, is it enough though? Knowing the Lakers there could be another deal in the works. With an aging Kobe that window is closing fast, so it's has to be now!

Nash is still a top 5/6 PG.

    CP3
    DWill
    Rose (healthy)
    Rondo
    Nash
    Westbrook

This is during one of the most PG rich times I can remember in NBA. So many top lead guards, and Nash is as good as any of them. One of the best shooters the game has ever seen, an amazing FT shooter, and one of the best facilitators the sport has ever seen.

He is this era's John Stockton, except without the defense.

    Nash
    Kobe
    ?
    Gasol
    Bynum

Gasol and Bynum can run the pick and roll very well, and Nash is currently the best PG to play the pick and roll with.

The Lakers got a lot better with this deal. Enough to beat the Thunder or Miami? Hard to believe that. But Kobe desperately wants another ring, and Nash would love to end his career with a ring.

Great pick up by the lakers. Especially considering the stupid Suns just paid out the ass for Goran Dragic.

Typical Lakers trading away draft picks for over the hill has beens. This team will never improve with this type of decision making, at least not improve enough to be any serious threat.

But they make a big 'splash' by getting a free agent with some name recognition to come here, first one ever since Kobe put on a uniform here, but in the end they still had to pay for him so he was far from free. But the trend of these guys coming here continues, the only guys who ever came to the Lakers on their own were Malone (he was about 80) Peyton (he was 75) and now Nash (pushing 90) so they might want to think about renaming the Lakers or at least look to start up retirement funding for all the old guys chasing rings who come here to die.

Lakers just gave away two first rounders and 2 second round draft picks and a 27 million dollar contract to a guy who is going to be almost mu age in the final year of it. From a basketball stand point is is maybe one of the worst 'free agent' signing in the history of the NBA.

I wont be back here to keep debating this ad naseum as I have better things to do but figured I would stop in and see the typical Laker jock sniffing on here and guys thinking this was a good move. Which shows why Lakers fans are probably the dumbest people when it comes to basketball knowledge in the world. They think big name is going to equal big success. Now had they gotten Nash about 5 or 6 years ago it would be a totally different story. But he is about 3 years past any meaningful level of relativity.

They don't come much dumber than you......Let's see, you claim Nash is past any "meaningful level of relativity" when he was 2nd in the league last yr in assist?? Averaged 12.5 & 10.7 & that's apparently not a "meaningful level of relativity" .... Nash 5 or 6 yrs ago was the MVP of the league making a max salary. You don't get MVP's in their prime earning the max for 2nd round draft picks. That's something anybody with a clue about the game understands. I have yet to hear one single sportswriter, sportscaster or NBA enthusiast/fan say this was a bad pick-UP. And right on que here you are yet again showing your ignorance by claiming this "one of the worst 'free agent' signing in the history of the NBA."
And who the hell is "Peyton"....how can anybody take you seriously when you don't even know the correct spelling of prominent players names?? Each post you make just oozes ignorance w/ a lack of basic knowledge of the game. Please tell us again how the Lakers are a lottery team??

Kobe is done and so are the Lakers.

It's time to hand the team over to Bynum.

Leave out the 3.5 TO's and the horrible inefficient 43% shooting.

And where did that get them??

Lakers are a MUCH MUCH better team when they run the offense through Bynum.

28.9 ppg was the #1 scoring shooting guard in the league last yr
5.4 boards was the #3 rebounding shooting guard in the league last yr
4.6 assists was the #2 assisting shooting guard in the league last yr.

If that is "done" what does that make the other 29 shooting guards in the league??

KOBE is not going to like playing with Nash at all... because Nash is smart, and is going to feed Bynum.

Lakers have ZERO chance of getting beyond 2nd Round... prolly out in the first.

it's too bad. i really like Steve Nash, hate to see him in the Kobe "only i score" team

When Bynum is the focus, Lakers win. When Kobe is, they lose. Kobe is the boss.
and the boss likes being the focus.

    that's a BIG problem

excuse me, but a 'GENIUS' does not order a 3-Time Finals MVP to leave town. At ALL>. EVER.
he cost his organization at least 2, likely 3 more championships.

He foolishly got rid of him, because he has to be the most dominant player on his team (NOT the heart of a champion).
Without Shaq, they wasted years of great Kobe. If he were not so selfish he could have retired with 7-9 Rings, and surpassed Jordan–– hell… he*would have inherited the team anyways, what was the rush? Big men always slow down sooner, they size/weight takes a toll on their joints,*moreso than a smaller/leaner man.

Kobe is not a genius, that is a joke.*

You obviously know jack shit about basketball. This instantly makes the Lakers a smarter team. Nash was 2nd in assists last season passing to fukkin scrubs. Now he has guys that can score.

And mark my words...Lakers are not done and will make another big trade this off season.
