Humidifiers are nice in the winter

It's a comfy 31% humidity in the room now.

they are not necessary in most homes... we produce more then enough humidity by just living in the home

Jack it up and get a nice case of mold and mildew in your home.

I prefer heaters in the winter and dehumidifiers in the summer

I love humidifiers bro and heaters. I had a break in though and somebody jacked my humidifier. I might have to get another one.

The thought of adding humidity doesn't appeal to me.

be careful with humidifiers boys... like sikler said, too much moisture is bad.. the average home produces more then enough humidity just by living (taking showers, breathing, ect..). Take a look at your windows while your system is running, and see if there is moisture.. also take a look in your attic and see if the roofing nails coming down are rusty

Good chance a lot of these guys are in short term rental units. They'd care very little about the mess they leave behind

What type of heater? Oil-filled radiator like this one isn't a health hazard at all. It doesn't burn oil and the oil never has to be changed

why are you still heating with oil? switch asap to natural gas... if not available, go with geothermal (30% tax credit), or even an inverter heat pump... oil is very expensive and inefficient

also... if the oil fired heater is older, be very careful of carbon monoxide

I don't think he's using an oil furnace. Space heater is what he seems to be saying

Meanwhile its probably slowly killing us

Ok furnace it is. I've never heard someone call a furnace a heater. Furnace is furnace.

Hope that's 3 or 4 years old and not 34, zoo

tell your step dad that he can save himself 66% or more of his fuel bill if he switches to natural gas
