Do big line movements right before game time mean all that much?

Been loosely keeping track of these games and honestly I've noticed more winners on the side the line moves away from.....

For example, today, Baylor line moved from 10ish to 8 or even 7.5 right before game time within a few minutes.....I hopped on baylor -8 and it cashed.....

Is there any stats or has anyone followed these late big movements for a while? Because honestly, from what I've followed so far, I'm seeing more winners on the side you wouldn't expect

It's funny you mention this, because a couple days ago a guy started a thread about how if you followed the line movement for the NFL this year you would be 61%. These bowls so far this year have been the opposite.
More importantly who is that nice Carolina girl in your avatar pic?

any guy or group who is causing a big line move like that is more than likely hedging at some point during that game and either guaranteeing a profit or limiting his loss greatly.

If you move the line right before gametime that means you bet large volume. Should matter.

So you got lucky to cover by a couple points with a late garbage touchdown and now you wonder if it meant anything????

    Everything means something.

    A real move that wins.
    A real move that loses.
    A fake move all together.

I've not been tracking the bowl games and it would be a small sample size right now anyway but...

The NFL is 62.1% for line movements this year over a 200 game sample.

Yes hard to believe for most.

You have to remember A10 losses to QJ quite often.....

Someone should follow it for the NBA and see how it goes.

It means there's a sweet spot for betting dogs. Day of the game but not too late.

prior to this discovery of yours there was still more than 1 way for line movement to move and more than one way to interpret and act on it either way.

(although i do understand and acknowledge the validity of this specific hypothesis.)

I'm not talking about standard movement from the opener, I'm talking about big sudden movements more than 1 full point right before game time

I've been keeping track of these lately and more winners have been the ones where the movement is actually going away from which I thought was wierd.....just an observation

The Baylor game was just an example of the exact scenario that's all......

Yeah I saw that. Most of these movements are not off any key numbers.

Not sure, not paying attention to bowl games as much as I usually do.

Late line movements are the exact reason my record is 10 and 3 this bowl season to date.................

Actually 2 of my 3 losses were because I did not wait for the closing lines..............
