Week 2 fantasy football help thread

As always, I’m looking only at players owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues.Fantasy Football Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups: Quarterback

    Ryan Fitzpatrick (46%), Buffalo
No team laid a bigger egg than the Chiefs on Sunday, and Fitzpatrick took full advantage, throwing for 208 yards and four touchdowns. Keep in mind that he got off to a hot start once he became the starter last season, throwing for 11 TDs in his first four games. The other 12 scores came over a nine-game span, so consistency isn’t necessarily his strong suit. Still, Fitzpatrick has Oakland next up on the schedule, which makes him an option if your other matchups are bad or you had the misfortune of drafting Peyton Manning.
    Cam Newton (33%), Carolina
When you see gaudy yardage totals like the 422 passing yards that Newton hung on Arizona in his first game as a starter, you may be inclined to chalk it up to garbage time. Not the case here, as Newton was effective and productive throughout before coming up just short on the final drive. In addition to the passing yards, Newton was used at the goal line on consecutive runs, the second of which he converted after diving over the pile like a running back. A date with Green Bay next week may provide some “Welcome to the NFL” moments, but Newton has solidified his status as a QB2 and potential matchup play against the right opponent.
    Rex Grossman (6%), Washington
Grossman has been basically a pigskin punchline, but over his last four games with Washington, he’s thrown for 1145 yards and nine touchdowns. Who knows how long he remains the starter for the ever-fickle Mike Shanahan, but for now, it’s Rex’s gig. Grossman faces the Cardinals next week – yes, the same Cardinals defense that gave up 422 yards to a rookie QB making his first start. That’s fantasy gold for those in two quarterback leagues as well as those desperate for a starter in other formats.
Fantasy Football Week 2 Waiver Wire Advice: Running Back

    Ben Tate (43%), Houston
With Arian Foster inactive, both Tate and Derrick Ward ran for touchdowns against the Colts. Ward tweaked his ankle, so Tate got the bulk of the carries and finished with 116 rushing yards. Foster is expected back next week against the Dolphins, but he’s one more hamstring issue away from missing a significant portion of the season. It’s also not inconceivable that Gary Kubiak eases Foster back into the mix, which means more work for Tate and/or Ward. With such a large lead, the Texans took the cautious approach with Ward this week, so the true extent of his injury is unclear. However, if I’m going after one of these guys, it’s Tate at this point.
    Deji Karim (10%), Jacksonville
I listed Karim last week due to my lack of faith in Maurice Jones-Drew’s knees. That’s still a factor here, but even with MJD at full strength (albeit on some kind of snap count), Karim had 17 touches. He ran 14 times for 33 yards and caught all three of his targets for 39 more. The Jags ran the ball over 40 times, and if they continue to use that game plan (not a bad idea with Luke McCown at QB), Karim should see double-digit touches on a weekly basis. Next week’s date with the Jets isn’t ideal, but his involvement in the offense proves Karim is worth owning in more than 10 percent of leagues.
    Cadillac Williams (7%), St. Louis
Steven Jackson got the Rams’ season off to a quick start with a 47-yard TD scamper on their first play from scrimmage. Unfortunately, he injured his quad in the process, which opened the door for Cadillac Williams to roll up 140 total yards. He ran 19 times for 91 yards and caught six passes on a team-high 10 targets for 49 more. If Jackson misses any time, Williams is in line to be the workhorse. That workload only increases if Sam Bradford’s finger injury puts him on the shelf. Next week the Rams take on the Giants, who surrendered 97 total yards and a TD to Tim Hightower in their first game.
    Earnest Graham (1%), Buccaneers
This one is only for those in the deepest of PPR leagues, but Graham had eight receptions for 58 yards to go with 13 rushing yards in Tampa Bay’s loss to the Lions. After falling behind, the Bucs went to a pass-heavy attack which rendered LeGarrette Blount virtually useless. Graham has established himself as the team’s third-down back and was targeted nine times, mostly on short dump-off passes. Keep an eye on him in the coming weeks to see if he’s able to sustain this kind of involvement in the offense.
Fantasy Football Week 2 Waiver Wire Advice: Wide Receiver

    Devery Henderson (22%), New Orleans
It’s getting tough to find healthy wideouts for the Saints these days with Lance Moore missing the opener with a groin injury and Marques Colston out for at least a month with a broken collarbone. Enter Devery Henderson, who most fantasy owners have rostered at one point or another, thinking he’s finally ready to become a consistent producer. Many of you may even be in some Devery Henderson-related support group at this point based on the way he’s treated fantasy owners over time. Anyway, he led the Saints with 100 receiving yards and a TD in the opener, and even if Moore is back this week, Henderson will remain a factor against Chicago. Fellow wideout Robert Meachem missed the cut here since he’s owned in 54 percent of leagues, but he’s another strong waiver option if he’s still out there in your league.
    Jacoby Jones (19%), Houston
The Texans didn’t need to throw it much against Indy on Sunday, but it’s worth noting that Kevin Walter has apparently broken his shoulder and is out for at least a few months if not the season. Someone is bound to benefit from all the attention directed at Andre Johnson, and that would seem to be Jones. He’s shown flashes but has been largely inconsistent over the course of his career. Jones did catch at least five passes in the last four games last year, and he’s an excellent return man in leagues that use return yards.
    Antonio Brown (27%), Pittsburgh
The bad news: Brown had just two catches for 14 yards, and Emmanuel Sanders caught Pittsburgh’s lone TD. The good news: Brown was targeted nine times. He simply isn’t startable in fantasy leagues at this point, but if you stick with him during the growing pains, it could pay dividends later this season.
    Anthony Armstrong (5%), Washington
Armstrong finished with just two receptions for 24 yards on Sunday, but there is reason for optimism. First, one of those grabs was a nice six-yard TD. Second, he dropped a couple bombs that could have pushed his yardage total over the century mark. Armstrong displayed good chemistry with Grossman toward the end of last season, and that continued today. If you’re desperate for help at wide receiver, you could do worse.
    Kevin Ogletree (0%), Dallas
Let’s look at a few things. 1) Dallas has virtually no depth at wide receiver. 2) Dez Bryant already got banged up with a quad bruise and leg cramps in the opener against the Jets, and the biggest question heading into this season surrounded his health. 3) The Cowboys are going to throw it a ton. So all that said, Ogletree becomes a guy to put on your watch list just in case.
    Greg Salas (0%), St. Louis
Danny Amendola dislocated his elbow and is out for a while, which leaves a huge hole in the Rams passing game. While Mike Sims-Walker should benefit, don’t count out Salas, a rookie from Hawaii. He caught one pass for 21 yards on Sunday, but if he slides into the slot with Amendola sidelined, he’s worth a look in PPR leagues.
Fantasy Football Week 2 Waiver Wire Advice: Tight End
    Lance Kendricks (34%), St. Louis
I won’t sugarcoat it. The stat line was ugly. The drops (one of which would have been a TD) were ugly. But Bradford wasn’t afraid to go back to him, and with Amendola injured, Kendricks may see even more targets. I’m going down with the ship on this one.
    Jermaine Gresham (15%), Cincinnati
There weren’t too many people investing heavily in the Cincinnati passing game heading into this season, and there wasn’t a ton I saw from either Andy Dalton or Bruce Gradkowski to make me reconsider that stance. Except for their second-year tight end who hauled in six catches for 58 yards and a score. He was targeted eight times and doesn’t have a murderer’s row coming up on the schedule. Just another example of how deep tight end is this year.
    Ed Dickson (2%), Baltimore
Take a wait-and-see approach here, but Dickson, who was a terrific tight end at Oregon, acquitted himself well in his first start. He caught all five of his targets for 59 yards and a TD. Dickson was unable to gain much separation from fellow TE Dennis Pitta in the preseason, but this performance could be enough. Consider him a TE2 at best for now.
    Fred Davis (1%), Washington
After catching a TD in each of the final two games last season, Davis and Rex Grossman picked up right where they left off, hooking up five times for 105 yards. Davis saw twice as many looks than veteran Chris Cooley, and it’s worth noting that Davis did a terrific job when filling in for an injured Cooley in 2009, catching five TDs over one four-game stretch. Again, he can’t be considered more than a TE2, but the upside is there.
    Scott Chandler (0%), Buffalo
It seems like every year a tight end goes off in the first week that make everyone go “Who the hell is this guy?” Chandler is that guy this year after catching five passes for 63 yards and two scores. He entered the game with one reception for eight yards in his career. Is it possible he’s a breakout candidate? I suppose, but it’s more likely that the Chiefs were just that horrendous.
    Streaming Defense(s) of the Week

I am a huge fan of streaming defenses based on matchups, so each week I will try to throw out one or two for those of you in the same boat.
    Houston (23%)
It was hard to get a true read on just how improved this defense was given the junior varsity nature of their opponent’s play, but there is reason to be intrigued, particularly against the Dolphins.
    Cleveland (23%)
Save for a TD pass to A.J. Green when the Browns had just started to break the huddle and a late TD to Cedric Benson, the Cleveland defense wasn’t terrible. You know who was terrible? The Colts, who Cleveland plays in Week Two.

    September 13, 2011
Since it’s difficult to know who is available in what league, this season I’m breaking down this article by percentage available: 25%-49%, 50%-74%+, 75%-90%+, 90%+. Who you decide to pickup depends on your need(s) and risk aversion. Early season pickups can be crucial to Fantasy Football success, as those of you who got your hands on Vick, Hillis, Lloyd, etc., after Week 1 last year know. A star denotes a good matchup this week, at first glance.
    25%+

    • Kyle Orton*
    • Darren Sproles
    • Robert Meachem
    • Aaron Hernandez
    • Lions*

Hernandez picked up where he left on in the preseason with 7 catches 100 yards & TD. Sproles was explosive and left many saying Reggie Who? Meachem should be the immediate fill-in for Colston. Orton is a solid QB2 and has a solid matchup with Cincy. Really like the Lions D over the next two weeks and could be a solid compliment for 2 D/ST owners.

    50%+

    • Ryan Fitzpatrick
    • Cam Newton
    • Ben Tate
    • Lance Kendricks
    • Giants*

Cam. Cam. Cam. He’s more than a rushing threat with that big arm. Had one of the best matchups last week, which won’t be the case most weeks, but you won’t find anyone like him anywhere. Fitz confirmed his sleeper status, as he can be a QB2 with upside as he shows great command of the offense. Ben Tate racked up big stats in the second half with Foster and Ward hurt. With his skill and OL lots to like with more potential big games. Burleson made the most out of his targets and can be a solid backup. Kendricks was painful and disappointing, but got open a lot and should get more looks with Amendola out. Giants D will improve as the season goes on and get a hurting StL @ home on Monday night.

    75%+

    • Delone Carter
    • Nate Burleson
    • Jacoby Jones
    • Jermaine Gresham
    • Cowboys*

Carter should become more involved in the offense. Jones will see more PT with Walter out and maybe he does something with it, finally. Gresham looked like the go-to guy.

    90%+

    • Rex Grossman*
    • Cadilliac Williams*
    • David Nelson
    • Ed Dickson
    • Texans*

Grossman was tough on Sunday, completing throws before getting hit. Should have a huge game this week vs. AZ at home. Cadilliac looked strong against the Eagles and I’m guessing Jackson misses more than one game. Nelson got as many targets as Stevie and should keep seeing the ball out of the slot while defenses try to stop Stevie. Dickson made a great TD coach going past Troy Polamalu and stepped up as a weapon for Flacco.

    yahoo pickups of the week

Strong Buy (10-teams plus) Historic day in the desert has ignited Cam Fever

    Cam Newton (QB) Carolina Panthers
After an adventurous preseason in which he took several lumps, Newton suddenly showed the polish of a 10-year veteran, shredding Arizona for a rookie record 422-yards, shattering the previous mark held by none other than Peyton Manning(notes). His reads, pocket poise and accuracy were well beyond what he previously showed in exhibition play. Despite his stellar performance, it's imperative owners keep in mind the matchup. The Cardinals' young, inexperienced secondary will likely be one of the league's worst. Drawing the Green Bay Packers in Week 2, Newton could experience a reality check. Because of his multi-scoring dimensions, he's rosterable in just about any sized league. But due to his youth, a rollercoaster rookie season should be expected. Consider him a strong QB2 until he proves he can hang with the big boys.

Strong Buy (10-teams plus)Foster owners need to sacrifice a limb, if necessary, to acquire Tate's services

    Ben Tate(notes) (RB) Houston Texans
Now we know the answer to that question. With Arian Foster(notes) sidelined by a tender hammy, Tate, who actually opened Sunday as the No. 2 behind Derrick Ward(notes), steamrolled his way to a top-10 fantasy finish, compiling 116 yards on 24 carries with a touchdown, a performance Texans head coach Gary Kubiak highly praised. It's clear, Tate is a very talented back who, if given a regular opportunity, would likely be a starting cornerstone on fantasy rosters. However, it's highly improbable Foster will be forced into a RBBC, limiting the second-year back to roughly 8-10 touches per game. Still, considering his skill set and Houston's nurturing offensive environment, Tate remains the best contingency plan in virtual pigskin. Stash him in all formats.

Strong Buy (12-team leagues plus) Jackson's quad injury pulls Cadillac out of the garage, onto the RB2 road

Carnell Williams(notes) (RB) St. Louis Rams
St. Louis team doctors' gloomy diagnosis on Steven Jackson's quad immediately tabs Cadillac must-add material. The former Buccaneer, signed by the Rams roughly a month ago as a backup plan for the aging Jackson, showed he still has plenty left in the tank. Over roughly three quarters against one of the league's most feared defenses, Philadelphia, he racked an impressive 140 total yards on 25 touches (six receptions). Devastating injuries have plagued Cadillac throughout his career, but, when healthy, he's performed fairly well, especially as a pass-catcher. Forgotten by most, he hauled in 46 passes last year in Tampa Bay, the same number, coincidentally, as Jackson. If S-Jax is unavailable this week against New York, employ Williams at the flex. The Giants did a masterful job containing Tim Hightower(notes) last week, holding him to just 2.9 yards per carry. But the injury-plagued unit may not be as impenetrable in Week 2. With 15-20 touches, Cadillac could roll his way to 80-100 total yards with ease. Put a dollar in the Red Box.

Solid Buy (12-teams plus) Karim filled Rashad Jennings'(notes) vacant role quite nicely in 2011 opener

    Deji Karim(notes) (RB) Jacksonville Jaguars
Evident in Karim's 17-touch total from last week, he will play a significant role in the Jags offense this season. Concerns over Maurice Jones-Drew's(notes) surgically repaired knee have subsided, but it's clear the coaching staff wants to limit the former Pro Bowler's workload. At 5-foot-8, 210-pounds Karim is a well-built back with above average acceleration and versatility. He's still rather unrefined as a runner, particularly attacking the hole between-the-tackles, but he has the backing of the coaching staff. With David Garrard(notes) no longer in the picture, overloaded boxes will be the norm in North Florida. But if MoJo is felled by a major setback, Karim could step in nicely and fill the void much like Jennings did late last year. For now, the former Saluki is Plan B, but considering his presumed 10-15 touch load per week, he's a fine depth add in competitive formats.

Solid Buy (12-teams plus) Broken Colston transforms Devery from trash to treasure

Devery Henderson(notes) (WR) New Orleans Saints
According to a variety of scouting reports and a well-established track record, Henderson is far from special. He's an undersized target with good speed who typically functions best downfield, a fair third or fourth receiver. However, against one of the league's toughest defenses, the veteran was more well-rounded. He totaled six receptions for 100 yards on a team-high nine targets on opening night. With Marques Colston(notes) likely out through mid-October, Henderson, along with Robert Meachem(notes) and eventually Lance Moore(notes), stand to benefit. This week's difficult matchup against visiting Chicago may not yield many fruits – the Bears have allowed just 10 wide receiver touchdowns in their past 17 regular season games – but with favorable opponents Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and Carolina upcoming, he could be sporadically useful as a WR3 in deeper formats in the near-term. After all, New Orleans is the definition of pass-happy.

Moderate Buy (12-teams plus) Former LSU standout flashed "Eye of the Tiger" against Carolina

    Early Doucet(notes) (WR) Arizona Cardinals
Without question Larry Fitzgerald(notes) will remain Kevin Kolb's(notes) primary weapon of choice, but with defenses rotating to the All-Pro's side, Doucet, and to a lesser extent, Andre Roberts(notes), will occasionally deliver standout performances. In Week 1, the Early bird got the worm. The third-year wideout, whose been hampered by various ailments over his pro career, stepped into the spotlight, snaring three receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown. Inconsistency will likely be the norm for Doucet, but against soft secondaries, he is capable of posting quality WR3 numbers in challenging formats. Don't break the bank on him, but for owners thin at WR, he is a useful bench acquisition with top-36 potential, especially next week against a rather benign Washington defense.

Solid Buy (12-teams plus) Overlooked Moore could be this year's version of Marcedes Lewis(notes)

    Evan Moore(notes) (TE) Cleveland Browns
In Pat Shurmur's newly installed West Coast offense, Moore is expected to carve out a noticeable role. The bond forged between the tight end and Colt McCoy(notes) appears unbreakable. The pair's chemistry during exhibition play carried over into the regular season. Targeted six times against Cincinnati, Moore grabbed three passes for 35 yards and a touchdown. Matched against a Colts defense embarrassed by Houston last Sunday, Cleveland could be a fantasy boon in Week 2. Since the Browns are without a clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver, Moore could again see a steady diet of targets this week and likely beyond. Jermaine Gresham(notes), Ed Dickson(notes) and Fred Davis(notes) are also worthwhile TE adds, but, analyzing the situation, Moore has stronger odds of finishing with 5-7 TDs this year.

Strong Buy (12-teams plus) Week 2 QB Plug n' Play

    Rex Grossman(notes) Washington Redskins
It's true an interception-less game from Grossman is a sign of the apocalypse. Two weeks in a row, and people might start digging underground shelters. Well, be prepared to rent a backhoe. Normally the butt of jokes, Grossman wasn't the punchline against a banged up Giants D last week, throwing for 305 yards and two touchdowns. If not for a couple of drops, one notably by Anthony Armstrong(notes) deep in Giants territory, his day would've been even better. Outside of a couple bad sacks, he played a nearly flawless game, delivering passes crisply and accurately. His Week 2 opponent, Arizona, is coming off a game in which it allowed 422 yards (11.4 yards per attempt) to rookie Cam Newton. The Cards' inexperienced secondary, in its first road test, could again get picked apart. Santana Moss(notes), a similarly styled receiver as Carolina's Steve Smith, will cause Patrick Peterson(notes) and A.J. Jefferson(notes) fits, boosting Grossman's scoring potential. It may sound nuts, but bet on the lampooned signal caller finishing inside the QB top-10 for the second-consecutive week.

Solid Buy (all leagues) Week 2 DEF Plug n' Play

    Houston Texans Defense/Special Teams
Many people expected the Texans defense to slowly evolve. Under new D czar Wade Philips, the new 3-4 system was supposed to take shape over the course of the season. However, Week 1 against the Manning-less Colts, the Texans swarmed the pocket, created chaos and forced turnovers. Dominant from start to finish, Houston tallied three sacks (two by Mario Williams(notes)) and limited Indy to just 236 total yards. This week's matchup in Miami isn't as favorable, but the results could be equally exciting. Chad Henne(notes), like Collins, is a statue in the pocket. When pressured he often makes rash decisions that occasionally lead to turnovers. If Houston can penetrate the offensive backfield and lock-down the flat, it has a great chance of notching top-10 numbers in Week 2.

    Add in all Leagues

    Cam Newton CAR | QB

All I can say about Newton is wow. We never suggest owning rookie QBs in standard leagues, but it looks like Newton might be an exception. I am not sure how much of it was Newton, and how much was just a weak Cardinals defense, but he should be picked up just in case it was all Newton. (about 40% owned)
    Carnell Williams STL | RB

Stephen Jackson got off to an amazing start on Sunday with 56 yards and a TD on 2 carries. Unfortunately, he injured his quad on his long 47 yard TD run. Williams played pretty well in his absence, and he needs to be picked up in case Jackson misses extended time. (about 10% owned)
    Robert Meachem NO | WR

With the injury to Colston we think Meachem might be the biggest beneficiary. He has had solid numbers over the last coupled of years, and he could have some big games with the extra looks he is going to get. He is still going to have to share targets with Graham, Moore, and Henderson, but Meachem will see plenty of action. (about 60% owned)

    Darren Sproles NO | RB

Sproles looked great in his first game against the Packers, and we think he is a must add in PPR leagues. He isn’t going to give you much value in standard leagues, but we expect Sproles to be a big enough part of the Saints offense to have value. Also, if your league counts return yards then that is just icing on the cake. (about 60% owned)
    Danny Woodhead NE | RB

Woodhead had by far the most carries out of the New England RBs week 1, and he should be owned in all leagues. Once the rookie RBs get into the mix it could just turn into a huge mess, but for now it looks like Woodhead could get a lot of touches for the Pats. (about 50% owned)
    Add in Deeper Leagues

    Jermaine Gresham CIN | TE

The Bengals are going to ask Gresham to do a lot more in his sophomore year. This talented young TE has a big upside, and could have value in some leagues. The TE position is extremely deep this year, but Gresham still deserves some fantasy attention. (about 20% owned)
    Devery Henderson NO | WR

With the injury to Colston this is going to open up the door for the other Saints WRs for some targets. He had a solid game in the opening night of this years season, and he could be a nice temporary solution. He is going to be inconsistent just like all of the other Saints WRs, but he should have a couple big games over the next month or so. (about 25% owned)
    Brandon Gibson STL | WR

The Rams had an injury plagued week 1, which included an injury to Amendola who might be out for the season. The Rams receiving corp was already pretty bad, but now it’s even worse. It looks like Gibson will see the biggest increase in targets, and he could end up being a decent pickup if you need help at WR. (about 5% owned)
    Mohamed Massaquoi CLE | WR

The Browns don’t have a lot going for them in the passing game, but Massaquoi should be the most fantasy relevant receiver. We aren’t expecting much, but he could have value in deeper leagues. (about 10% owned)
    Brian Hartline MIA | WR

Hartline started off the 2011 season on the right foot, and it might be time to give this guy a look. He was one of the most consistent WRs last year, and he might be able to step it up to the next level. At the very least he could be a great guy to plug in during your bye weeks for an all but guaranteed 6-12 points. (about 5% owned)
    Ryan Fitzpatrick BUF | QB

It doesn’t seem to matter what Fitzpatrick does, he doesn’t get a ton of fantasy hype. Even after a solid season a year ago he is only owned in half of all leagues. He should be a solid QB2 this year that could be plugged when he has favorable matchups. (about 50% owned)
    Early Doucet ARI | WR

Doucet will be battling for playing time with Andre Roberts, but he will have plenty of opportunities. Doucet has a lot of talent, and he could be in line for a break out year. He had a great week 1 with 105 yards and a TD with only 3 catches. He is going to be inconsistent, but we expect some more big games this year out of Doucet. (about 5% owned)
    Rex Grossman WAS | QB

Grossman had a great week 1, and we love his chances against the Cardinals week 2. Newton made the Cardinals D look silly, and we see no reason why Grossman can’t put up solid numbers. If you aren’t a fan of your QB matchup then you might want to give Grossman a look. (about 10% owned)
    Lardarius Webb BAL | CB

Webb could offer decent value in leagues that have IDPs that also gives points for return yards. Webb had an amazing game on Sunday with 9 solo tackles a sack and 37 return yards. He has a lot of big play potential, and he should be good for 4+ tackles a week. (about 5% owned)
    Sean Lee DAL | LB

Lee is going to be competing with Brooking early in the season for playing time, but if he continues to put up numbers like he did in week 1, then Brooking will be out of a job. Lee had 10 solo tackles against the Jets and an interception. Lee is worth a roster spot in deeper IDP leagues and he could have a lot of value later this year. (about 5% owned)
    Patrick Peterson ARI | CB

The 5th overall pick from this years draft had a decent first game in the NFL. He had 5 solo tackles and 98 return yards, which included an 89 yard punt return for a TD. Peterson is an exciting young player that should have good value in IDP leagues that count return yards. (about 20% owned)
    Keep an Eye on

    Earnest Graham TB | RB

The Bucs were playing from behind almost the entire game, which means a lot of passing. This kept Blount on the bench and Graham out on the field as they tried to come back against the Lions. Graham ended up catching 7 passes for 42 years, and he had 6 carries which was 1 more then Blount. This is not good news for Blount owners, and it is cause for concern. This makes Graham an interesting pickup in deeper PPR leagues, and as a Blount handcuff. (about 5% owned)
    Ed Dickson BAL | TE

With Todd Heap out in Arizona this has left a big hole to fill at the TE position in Baltimore. Dickson is a big talented tight end that could end up having decent numbers this year. We only suggest picking him up in really deep leagues, but we have been impressed with his athleticism. (about 5% owned)
    Fred Davis WAS | TE

Davis has looked good whenever given the opportunity, and we think it would make sense for the Skins to give Davis more time on the field. He racked up 5 catches for 105 yards, and we expect the Skins to find ways to get him involved. (about 5% owned)

    Linebackers

    Pat Angerer –
Many fantasy owners were jumping on Pat Angerer as a late round stash this summer, and his stock has only climbed in recent weeks. With Peyton Manning gone, and middle linebacker Gary Brackett injured week one, Angerer is a must start after his thirteen tackles (nine solos) against the Texans. If you can still find Angerer on your waiver wire pickup him up as he should perform like a LB-2 going forward.
    Sean Lee –
It’s all a matter of opportunity for Sean Lee as he has the skills to be a weekly starter in IDP leagues. Starting week one, Lee exploded for 12 tackles (ten solos) and a sack against the Jets. It’s time to believe in Lee, and he is likely to hold off veterans like Keith Brooking for playing time.
    Dan Connor –
With Jon Beason gone for the year Dan Connor will be starting at linebacker for the Panthers going forward. Connor can be a productive player, but he’s at best a LB-3 most weeks, and certainty doesn’t come close in talent to Beason. While Connor is worth a pickup, I figure James Anderson should benefit most from Beason begin gone, even though he didn’t have a great game against the Cardinals.
    Defensive Backs

    Patrick Peterson (Corner)-
Probably not around in your league, but you need to check if he’s still around. Peterson was getting much love as an IDP sleeper this summer, and he has a chance to be a top ten corner back in IDP leagues.
    Kam Chancellor (Strong Safety)-
I was talking this kid up in the summer, as he was likely to win a job opposite Earl Thomas as the Seahawks strong safety. This position has been a good one in Seattles defense for a few years, and Chancellor is a nice pickup. He should get plenty of work as the Seahawks offense will be keeping the defense on the field.
    Ladarius Webb (Corner) -
I’m not completely sold on Ladarius Webb but someone is going to be productive at corner for the Ravens. Webb nailed down 11 tackles (nine solo) and half a sack in the teams opener against the Steelers. Keep Webb on your depth chart for now.

    Defensive Linemen

    Lamarr Houston -
If for some crazy reason Lamarr Houston is still around in your IDP waiver wire, you need to get him right away. I liked Houston as a fringe DL-3 because the Raiders rely on their front linemen to pass rush and make plays. I can still remember Houston walking out on draft day holding a Raiders helmet in the air, and this guy has a motor that won’t quit. If you have him, he’s worth considering as a starter weekly.
    Chris Canty -
With some many injuries in New York, Chris Canty is getting playing time and is at least worth a pickup for depth if you have a Giants linemen. Canty can be productive when given decent playing time, and he’s worth holding in deep leagues.

    Start’em

Tim Hightower vs. Cardinals -While Hightower failed to rush for a high yard-per-carry average against the Giants, he was clearly the main man in the Redskins backfield. This week Hightower has a tasty matchup against the Cardinals defense.
James Starks vs. Panthers - I’m sure most fantasy football owners watched the opening Thursday night game when James Starks played against the Saints. Starks looked good in the opener as he seemed to play with the punishing run style his body type would suggest he could play with.
At this point in time, Starks is the running back to have in your lineup from the Packers as Ryan Grant seems to have lost a step coming back from injury.
Joseph Addai vs. Browns – The Colts are going to have a long season, but if they have any hopes of winning games, they need to lean on their running game and this week Addai should have success. The Browns gave up over 120 yards on the ground to Cedric Benson in week one, and Addai should be good for at least 80 yards on the ground and a score.
Matthew Stafford vs. Chiefs - It really shouldn’t matter who Matthew Stafford is playing on a given week as he needs to be in your fantasy lineup. Sure, you’re not going to start him over studs like Brees, Brady or Rodgers, but if you have options like Roethlisberger or Ryan, this guy is a better option.
Plaxico Burress vs. Jaguars – It took Mark Sanchez until the second half against the Cowboys to find Burress but after a nice touchdown pass, it seemed Sanchez was looking his way the rest of the game. Why not, as Burress has a big frame, and if you can get the football close to him, he seems to find a way to haul it in.
This week is a tasty matchup against the Jaguars, and I believe that Burress should find a way to get the job done for fantasy owners. If Kenny Britt can go for over 100 yards and two scores against this secondary, why can Burress have at least 75 yards and a score?
Jordy Nelson vs. Panthers - Aaron Rodgers is going to spread the football around to a million pass catchers weekly, but it looks like Nelson is ready to be a fantasy relevant player. Nelson was key for the Packers in the Super Bowl and had some nice plays in the teams’ opener against the Saints. Look for Nelson to have another productive game against the Panthers this week.
Fred Davis vs. Cardinals - Look for the Redskins to continue to rest Chris Cooley and his ailing knee after Fred Davis went off for over 100 yards against the Giants last week. Davis gets another productive matchup against the Cardinals defense and should be in fantasy lineups.
Aaron Hernandez vs. Chargers – A start’em special last week, Aaron Hernandez delivered against the Dolphins and he should continue to be a productive starter weekly. Tom Brady will use both of his tight ends and with Chad Ochocinco struggling to get on the field, it’s going to be a good start for Hernandez this yea

Everyone should pick up Brandon Gibson, he is going to be Bradford's number one target.

2 things that scare me. first is gonna be bradfords health. and secondly is they have a lot of targets to throw to. while he might be a number 1 it still might not be enough to profit from.

Don't forget to get John Kasay as a kicker he will have a ton of point opportunities kicking for the Saints this year.

o line is terrible, only good wr is bowe so he's being double teamed. Thomas jones is on his last leg. Lost their best defender. Bad schedule.

Charles and bowe will have some good games, but alot more nothings then anything.

    Sneaky Start of the Week
Greg Salas, WR, STL at New York Giants

The slot position in the Rams' offense is the one that was supposed to be the big producer for PPR leagues this season. Danny Amendola was to be the 2011 Wes Welker, and was well on his way before an elbow injury early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's season opener. Amendola was targeted six times, catching five balls for 45 yards. He was targeted 123 times in 2010.

He is out for Week 2 and St. Louis QB Sam Bradford will have rookie Greg Salas in the slot position. Salas is bigger than Amendola — 6-1, 210 vs. 5-10, 186 — and he scored 22 times in his last two seasons at Hawaii.

With the Giants' defense decimated by injuries, Salas could be a great play in PPR leagues this week.

    Unexpected Sit of the Week
Chris Johnson, RB, TEN vs. Baltimore

Last week's Unexpected Sit of the Week was Baltimore RB Ray Rice, who was going up against a Pittsburgh team that stifled him three times last season. Rice threw egg on my face, scoring 28.9 fantasy points, and proving his worth as perhaps the top fantasy back to have this season.

The same cannot be said for Chris Johnson right now. The Titans looked awful against Jacksonville in the season opener, and I can't see it getting much better against a much better team in the Ravens. CJ, who held out for almost all of preseason, had little room to work and only managed to become a blip on the scoring radar thanks to six catches for 25 yards that helped muster up 7.9 fantasy points.

So I will give it a try again, and buck the trend that you "must play your first-round picks."

If the Titans were a well-oiled machine on the offensive end — you know, not one with a new QB in a new system, a "sleeper tight end" that's still asleep, a budding star at WR that seems to fluke his way into a lot of fantasy points and a standout RB who is just a few weeks into that new system under coordinator Chris Palmer, a system that ran the ball just 13 times in the opener — then I would say start Johnson no matter what.

But this is not a well-oiled offense, and sit CJ in the tough match ups until he proves otherwise. If you think 7.9 points against Jacksonville is going to improve against a team that just demolished the Steelers, then be my guest and start CJ.
And this coming from someone who has Johnson in two leagues, Britt in two leagues and Cook in a league.

    Quarterbacks
    START
Eli Manning (NYG) vs. St. Louis —
Manning didn't have the best opener (14.92 fantasy points), but he gets a Rams secondary decimated by injuries — much like his own — in a Monday Night Football game that has the potential to be a shootout.

Rex Grossman (WAS) vs. Arizona — Just look at what rookie Cam Newton did to Arizona in his first professional start, pretty much utilizing only one target (WR Steve Smith 11 times) to get his fantasy production. Grossman has multiple passing options and a solid pass-catching backfield at his disposal in order to have a second straight solid outing after 23.2 fantasy points in the opener.

Matthew Stafford (DET) vs. Kansas City — Once he puts a few solid outings together, injury free, Stafford will stop showing up on this list because it should just be understood he's a fantasy starter. But since he hasn't proven it on a consistent basis, he ends up on these lists. This week he gets a Chiefs team reeling in the secondary with the loss of stud safety Eric Berry (ACL) and Stafford is coming off of a 28.2-point fantasy effort against Tampa Bay. Everyone should have success for the Lions this week, and it starts with Stafford's distribution of the football.

    SIT
Cam Newton (CAR) vs. Green Bay —
It was a great start for Newton against a miserable Arizona secondary, and the Packers did allow Drew Brees to throw for 419 yards, three scores and no interceptions. But that is Super Bowl-winning QB Drew Brees, not a rookie QB making his second pro start against the defending Super Bowl champs. If you picked up Newton, idle him for one week and then unleash him against Jacksonville next week.

Matt Ryan (ATL) vs. Philadelphia — The Falcons might be able to have more success on the ground with RB Michael Turner in this game, and want to lean on it more after rushing just 14 times in a loss to Chicago. The Eagles have a solid secondary, and Ryan did not look too good against Chicago's secondary last week (zero TDs, one INT, a fumble and 319 yards for 9.76 fantasy points). The turnovers Philly's likely to produce, and the likelihood of Turner getting in the end zone, may mean Ryan has to get you points through yards alone, and one turnover can take away 50 yards just, like, that.

Colt McCoy (CLE) at Indianapolis — Might be a sexy option this week because of the Texans dismantling of the Colts in the opener. However, McCoy completed less than 50 percent of his passes against the Bengals, threw for just 213 yards and may go into Sunday without his starting right tackle (Tony Pashos) for the second straight game. And which Colt will be gunning for McCoy from that side of the field? Robert Mathis, who had 11 sacks last year.

    Running Backs
    START
LeGarrette Blount (TB) at Minnesota —
One of the many coachspeak casualties of Week 1, Blount fell into the we-needed-to-run-him-more category. Tampa Bay had to play catch up against Detroit and were in more of a two-minute mode. I don't see the Bucs having to play catch up against the Vikings, thus Blount should be able to showcased as the power back and punch a couple into the end zone. Minnesota allowed 51.5 fantasy points to RBs, in a half-PPR format, against San Diego last week.

Peyton Hillis (CLE) at Indianapolis — The Colts allowed 28.8 points to three Texans RBs last week, and Hillis could have a monster game as a bull rusher and as a pass-catching outlet for Colt McCoy as he tries to improve on his 48-percent completion rate. Hillis ran for 57 yards and caught six balls for 30 yards against Cincinnati, and now gets a Colts D that was fifth-worst against fantasy RBs (24.5 PPG) last season, and obviously haven't improved in that area yet.

James Starks (GB) at Carolina — I'm expecting a blowout, thus I'm expecting Starks to get plenty of work to show what he's got. He's a solid flex play, and will emerge as more than that down the road if he can shake Ryan Grant.

    SIT
Maurice Jones-Drew (JAC) at New York Jets — He is the Jags' only option. You know it. I know it. And I'm sure the Jets know it. Marcedes Lewis is nursing a strained calf and may or may not go. Mike Thomas and Jason Hill will be covered by two solid corners. And the Jets surrendered just 14 points per game to RBs last season (second best), and gave up just 64 yards on 26 carries against the Cowboys to go along with five catches for 40 yards and no scores from three Dallas RBs last Sunday in the Meadowlands.
DeAngelo Williams (CAR) vs. Green Bay — Your rookie QB, making his first pro start, throws for over 400 yards and all you can scrounge up is 36 total yards and one catch (4.1 fantasy points) as the team's lead back? Add on that Jonathan Stewart is there to split the backfield, and it's even tougher to look Williams' way the rest of the season. If 400 yards passing against the Cardinals didn't open up running lanes, I doubt he finds much room against the Pack this week.

Fred Jackson (BUF) vs. Oakland — This has the potential to be an ugly, sluggish game. The Raiders' secondary can conceivably tame the Bills receivers, particularly if Steve Johnson (groin) doesn't play. Meanwhil,e Oakland may grind it out with Darren McFadden against a Bills run D that surrendered 25.6 fantasy points per game to RBs last season, and weren't tested in Week 1 after jumping out to a 20-0 lead against the Chiefs, last year's top rushing team. I just picture Oakland LB Rolando McClain shadowing Fred Jackson or C.J. Spiller wherever they may roam, and it will usually be McClain winning the battle.

    Wide Receivers
    START
Mario Manningham (NYG) vs. St. Louis —
Read the Eli Manning blurb above. This game has shootout written all over it due to both teams being battered in the secondary. And for Manningham, the team's No. 1 option, Hakeem Nicks, is battling a knee injury and is no lock to go just yet. Monitor the situation, but even if Hicks plays, I'd slide Manningham in there with him.

Jacoby Jones (HOU) at Miami — He moves into the starting role due to Kevin Walter's shoulder injury, and Jones could flourish against a Dolphins team that just allowed Tom Brady to throw for 517 yards against them on Monday night. You don't fix that in six days. Plus, if your league rewards return yards, Jones can help you out there as well. He scored on a punt return in the opener.

Emmanuel Sanders (PIT) vs. Seattle — Sanders didn't get much work in the preseason due to his foot injury, but came right out in Week 1 and scored a TD in the blowout loss to the Ravens. I envision the Steelers being pretty angry about last week's defeat, and taking it out on the Seahawks. If you can't take a flier on him against the Seahawks, when can you?

    SIT
Mike Thomas (JAC) at New York Jets —
If he's covered by Darrelle Revis, forget it. Even if he isn't, just forget it with Thomas this week. Live to play another day when he has easier match ups.

Steve Smith (CAR) vs. Green Bay — He may receive 11 targets again, but how many times will a Packer step in front of the ball. Smith, like Newton, will be a solid play against Jacksonville next week, but for now be happy if you had him in the lineup in Week 1 and find another option for Week 2.

Austin Collie (IND) vs. Cleveland — Just three targets and no catches in a blowout loss to the Texans. While that stat line is appetizing, I will wait until the Collins-to-Collie connection, well, actually makes a connection before I slide him into a WR3 or flex role. Peyton, please hurry back. Love, Pierre, Dallas and Austin.

    Tight Ends
    START
Owen Daniels (HOU) at Miami —
You saw what the Patriots TEs did to Miami last week, right? If you didn't, here it is: 17 targets, 13 catches, 189 yards, two TDs. More OD, please!

Tony Gonzalez (ATL) vs. Philadelphia — He went 5-for-72 against the Bears last week on seven targets — all numbers above last year's averages. Now Gonzo gets an Eagles team that allowed the most fantasy points to TEs a year ago (12.4 PPG) and could be the go-to guy while Roddy White and Julio Jones are blanketed by the outstanding Philly corners.

Jermaine Gresham (CIN) at Denver — The second-year player was one of the Bengals' favorite targets in Week 1, and he delivered with six catches for 58 yards and a score on those eight targets. He gets a Denver team that may be without Champ Bailey (hamstring) and Elvis Dumervil (shoulder) this week, opening up the pass for the Bengals. Monitor Cincy QB Andy Dalton's health as well, because Gresham's success is tied in with Dalton playing.

    SIT
Jared Cook (TEN) vs. Baltimore —
An almost complete no-show against the Jags — the JAGS! He was targeted two times and caught one pass for seven yards. Until he proves he's a consistent fantasy option he stays in the "a-sleeper" category.

Zach Miller (SEA) at Pittsburgh — He was targeted just four times against San Francisco, catching two for 19 yards. The Seahawks' offense managed 219 yards against the 49ers. I doubt that's going to improve much against an angry Steelers defense.

Anthony Fasano (MIA) vs. Houston — Fasano broke out for a five-catch, 82-yard performance against the Patriots, but now goes against a Houston team that limited Indianapolis' Dallas Clark to four catches for 39 yards in a blowout win for the Texans.

    Kickers
    START
David Akers (SF) vs. Dallas —
The 49ers' offense is pathetic — 209 yards against Seattle to currently rank 31st in the league. But what they might be able to do this week against an injured Dallas secondary is get into field goal range. Akers might be on a perfect team for a fantasy kicker — one that can't get past the 20 (1-for-5 last week were the Niners). This means more 3-point opportunities for the veteran who is a career 82-percent kicker.

Josh Brown (STL) at New York Giants — St. Louis has the weapons to move the ball down the field, but without Steven Jackson do they have the ability to punch it across the goal line? If not, Brown will be there to pick up the pieces with a few 3-pointers. I lean toward shootout this week, which may mean both 3- and 1-pointers for Brown.

Billy Cundiff (BAL) at Tennessee — Unlike Akers and Brown, the Ravens should be able to punch it across the goal line early and often against the Titans. Cundiff hit three PATs and two FGs for nine fantasy points against the Steelers in Week 1, and should do at least the same, if not more, this week.

    SIT
Rob Bironas (TEN) vs. Baltimore —
This offense can't move the ball right now. They didn't move it against the Jaguars, and in seven days I doubt they will have figured out how to move it against the Ravens. Unless Bironas lines up for a few more 67-yard attempts, and hits this time to give you a good bonus, keep one of the league's best on the pine in Week 2.

Dan Carpenter (MIA) vs. Houston — I just see the Texans shutting the Dolphins down this week in every facet. Carpenter only produced six fantasy points out of the 24 points the Dolphins scored in Week 1. I don't see 24 on the board for Miami in Week 2.

Josh Scobee (JAC) at New York Jets — He took advantage of a stagnate offense last week by hitting three field goals and one PAT. It's doubtful he gets that many opportunities against the Jets this week.

    Defense/Special Teams
    START
    Detroit Lions vs. Kansas City
You saw what Buffalo did to the Chiefs in Arrowhead, right? Seven points. Really? Now the Lions, who just held Tampa Bay to 14 points with two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery, welcome Kansas City to the Motor City. It's a risky play because you need the Lions to force turnovers and get to Matt Cassel in addition to the already low point total and yardage I think they will hold them to on Sunday, but it's a risk worth taking.

Houston Texans at Miami I am not worried about what Chad Henne did playing catch up to rack up his yards. The Texans unleashed their new 3-4 defense on Kerry Collins and the Colts last week, and Indy was stumped from the word go. Houston held the Colts to seven points, registered three sacks, two fumble recoveries and got a punt return for a score. I believe they bring the heat again this week, shut down the receivers and let Reggie Bush try to beat them. Good luck with that.

Washington Redskins vs, Arizona The Redskins limited the Giants to 14 points, sacked Eli Manning four times, intercepted him once and returned it for a score and blocked a field goal. The Giants were also held to 75 yards rushing. Look for Beanie Wells to struggle and the Redskins to try and make Kevin Kolb and Larry Fitzgerald beat them on the road. The Jim Haslett-led defense will pressure Kolb into mistakes. Plus, the Redskins have Brandon Banks as a very dangerous return man.

    SIT
    Chicago Bears at New Orleans
Last week's No. 2 fantasy defense (25 points) allowed just two field goals, recorded five sacks and got a Brian Urlacher fumble return for a score against the Falcons at home. Now the Bears travel to a New Orleans team that scored 34 points against Green Bay, turned the ball over once, converted 64-percent of its third-down attempts and surrendered three sacks. The Green Bay defense mustered all of five fantasy points without Randall Cobb's kickoff return for a score (11 with). Look elsewhere this week.

San Diego Chargers at New England This one is pretty simple: The Chargers held Donovan McNabb to 39 yards passing last week THIRTY-NINE and their fantasy defense walked away with seven points. Why? Because they allowed a 103-yard kickoff return for a score on the first play, forced just one turnover and sacked McNabb four times. Tom Brady's back at home after passing for 517 yards, being sacked just once and throwing an interception for the first time in 359 pass attempts. The Chargers won't force turnovers, won't get to Brady and won't hold him to the necessary points or yardage totals you need to justify starting them as a fantasy defense this week.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Last week's No. 1 fantasy defense (26 points) needed two special teams returns for TDs from Ted Ginn to get there. The 49ers are tied for eighth (14 fantasy points) without those two returns against a terrible Seahawks team that mustered 219 total yards and 17 points. Dallas will certainly get more than 219 yards and 17 points this week against a San Fran team that was second worst against fantasy WRs last year (31 PPG) and ninth worst against fantasy QBs (18.5). Tony Romo, Felix Jones, Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten are a lot different than Tarvaris Jackson, Marshawn Lynch, Mike Williams and Zach Miller. Maybe come back to San Francisco in a week when it travels to Cincinnati.

Put 'em In The Game: Matt Schaub
Don't get too worried over Matt Schaub's performance last week. He should bounce back nicely this week against a Dolphins secondary that got completely ripped apart by Tom Brady and company. Schaub will not throw for 500+ yards like Brady did, but he will put up enough numbers to make him a great start this week.Put 'em In The Game: Rex Grossman
Just like Schaub above, Grossman gets to face a defense that got murdered the week before. Rex Grossman is not a flashy QB but he's steady. He hit the 300+ yards mark last week and threw two scores against the Giants which was a solid performance. The Cardinals just let rookie Cam Newton completely dominate them. Grossman isn't going to throw for the same 400+ yards and 3 TD's like Cam did, but he should still put up some pretty respectable numbers.
Put 'em In The Game: Jahvid Best
Jahvid Best looked decent last week against the Bucs running for 72 yards and tacking on an additional 42 yards receiving. Buffalo basically had their way with Kansas City last week and it's hard to imagine Stafford, Megatron, and Best not doing the same. KC got burned through the air but they also gave up 164 yards on the ground. Best should be solid, particularly in PPR formats.
Put 'em In The Game: Cedric Benson
It's always nice to see one of your backs reach the century mark as Cedric Benson did last week. It's even nicer when that back also sees the endzone as Benson did. This week he faces a Denver defense that basically laid down for Darren McFadden on Monday night. One would assume that they would stack the box given the lack of a passing threat, but Benson should still tear up the Broncos.
Put 'em In The Game: Peyton Hillis
You probably took Hillis with your 2nd or 3rd round pick in the draft and you were probably disappointed last week when he failed to deliver any fantasy goodness. No worries - he'll redeem himself this week. Ben Tate filled in for superstar Arian Foster and not only went over the century mark but he also saw the endzone against the Colts. Hillis is better than Tate and the Colts won't be able to stop him.
Put 'em In The Game: Robert Meachem
Who is the #1 receiver in New Orleans? The answer is: who knows? Brees spreads the passing game around a lot, and with Marques Colston out for at least a month, the top spot is up for grabs but will most likely be Meachem or Henderson (Lance Moore is still a question mark). We're giving the nod to Meachem. His 5 for 70 yards and a score against Green Bay was solid. The Bears aren't easy to throw on, just ask Matt Ryan, but Brees is an elite QB who will get the ball down the field.
Put 'em In The Game: Steve Smith
It feels so good to put Steve Smith on the Start 'em List. We've said it so many times over the past two years: Steve Smith is amazing IF he has a QB who can get him the ball. Delhomme was not that guy. Cam Newton is. Before we gush too much on him, it would be appropriate to temper our expectations. He and Newton tore up the Cardinals, but they're not facing the Cardinals this week. Green Bay gave up a lot to Brees but don't expect them to lay down for Carolina. Steve Smith - say hello to Charles Woodson. Even against Green Bay, we expect Newton to focus on getting the ball to Smith as often as they let him.
Put 'em In The Game: Santonio Holmes
Kenny Britt left the Jaguars scratching their heads last week. Expect Holmes to do the same. We suspect that Sanchez (who is also a good play this week) will take to the air quite a bit and Holmes is the primary target.
Put 'em In The Game: Jimmy Graham
Jimmy Graham looked solid in the NFL opener. He's a big, strong, and fast target - the perfect attributes for that Saints offense. When the long option is not available to Brees, expect him to target Graham. 4 for 56 yards and a score against the Packers was a nice performance. We're expecting similar results again this week.
Put 'em In The Game: Rob Gronkowski
Whether Brady is going to throw more to Rob Gronkowski or Aaron Hernandez is going to be an ongoing question. Both are great options this week. When you compare his targeting of his two TE's to Branch and Ochocinco, Brady clearly favored the tight ends. The Chargers have a solid secondary but the Pats should exploit the linebacker matchups on Gronkowski and Hernandez.
Put 'em In The Game: Brandon Pettigrew
We like Brandon Pettigrew this week. We liked him last week as well, and probably would have loved him if he would have caught that TD pass. The Chiefs are not going to be able to stop him.
Put 'em In The Game: Alex Henery
Picking kickers is often a fruitless endeavor, but Philly's rookie kicker grabbed our attention earlier this year and has stayed on our radar. Robbie Gould of the Bears chipped in some nice fantasy points last week against Atlanta and we're expecting the same type of performance out of Henery this week. Vick's got extra motivation this week facing his old team which should get Henery close enough to the uprights to make it count.
Put 'em On The Bench: Donovan McNabb
One word: Yuck! That basically sums up McNabb's opening day performance for the Vikings. His 39 yards through the air (yes - 39) and 3 scampers for 32 yards were terrible. While we think there's still some gas left in that tank, Tampa Bay is going to pressure McNabb all day. Combine last week's performance with a right wrist injury and it's tough to find the upside here. Sit him until further notice.
Put 'em On The Bench: Cam Newton
Chances are that you hit the waiver wire after Week 1 and grabbed Cam Newton (we did!). While there's a chance that he could go off on the defending Super Bowl champions this week, it's highly unlikely. We think Newton has the potential to be the next Michael Vick and we fully intend to use him as the season progresses, just not this week. If he produces a monster stat line this week, we're ready to eat some crow.
Put 'em On The Bench: DeAngelo Williams
Can someone check to see if DeAngelo Williams still plays for Carolina? His production last year was lackluster at best and he turned in a terrible performance in Week 1. Based on that past history, we're not ready to recommend him any time soon. Even though he's listed at the top of the depth chart, he looks to be be playing second to Jonathan Steward (similar to Ryan Grant and James Starks in GB). Facing the Freezer and the rest of the Packers D is going to be tough. Williams - have a seat.
Put 'em On The Bench: Knowshon Moreno
Based on what he was able to accomplish last week against the Raiders, it's tough to find much love for Moreno. Assuming that he's cleared to play (an MRI is scheduled for his hammy), it's hard to expect him to do much against the Bengals who held Peyton Hillis in check. If Moreno doesn't suit up, don't expect much more from Willis McGahee either.
Put 'em On The Bench: Austin Collie
Peyton Manning spelled fantasy success for a lot of players. Without Manning, Collie is a stretch to reach WR3 status. Kerry Collins targeted Collie a few times against the Texans but Collie wasn't able to deliver. Looking at an aggregate view of all of the teams entered into the FFN Lineup Analyzer, Collie is on more teams than we anticipated. We'd like to see a little bit of consistency before we take his name off of this list.
Put 'em On The Bench: Chad Ochocinco
We've come to expect a lot of talk out of Chad Ochocinco, but he's usually backed it up with his performances. That wasn't the case last year, and sadly, that doesn't appear to the be case right now. When he was on the field (and it wasn't that often), he wasn't getting the targets that his peers were. Welker, Branch, and the twin towers at TE were more productive and better fantasy options. Have a seat Chad.
Put 'em On The Bench: Chris Cooley
For quite some time, Chris Cooley has been a fantasy staple at the TE position. The times, they are a changin' my friends. Fred Davis outplayed and outshined Cooley last week. Davis saw the century mark, which is fantastic for a TE. Cooley saw 2 catches for 21 yards. We hate to say it, but maybe it's time for Cooley to have a seat.
Put 'em On The Bench: Visanthe Shiancoe
Homer Simpson would love Visanthe Shiancoe, but when Shiancoe throws up a big ol' doughnut, we don't like him. Other than Adrian Peterson, the whole Vikings offense is suspect. Besides the brilliant kickoff return, Percy Harvin was a major disappointment too. There's no logical reason to put Visanthe Shiancoe in as your starting TE unless you have absolutely no backup.
Put 'em On The Bench: Jay Feely
Kickers are never going to put up huge numbers for you. All you can really ask for is some consistency from a fantasy perspective, and if consistency is what you want, Jay Feely is probably not the guy for you. Lawrence Tynes delivered 2 points last week against Washington and Feely most likely won't do much better.

Should I start, Stafford or Vick?
Doucet or Britt. Only reason why I am asking is they are facing that Bal defense. Kind of worried, I think Britt is going to transform into a great WR but that is a tough match up for anybody. (this is a keeper league)

Okay, that is what I was originally thinking too. But then thinking about it secondly if Fitzgerald looked that good vs. KC's defense....

    Thanks though.

    Just says knee.

    via NFL.COM Player News:
The injury that Charles suffered Sunday was to his left knee.

Impacts: More on Charles' status as we know it, but Thomas Jones' value would get a boost, as would Dexter McCluster's, if Charles' injury turns into anything significant.

    Torn ACL.

    via NFL.COM Player News:
Charles is believed to have suffered a torn left ACL on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Impacts: Schefter adds that Charles will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the injury, but the initial diagnosis doesn't look good at all. Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster both will see a boost in value in the wake of Charles' injury.
