Some charity begged him to run a charity marathon and he had to drop out just a little over 1 mile. He tried to tell the organizers he doesn't have endurance muscle fibers and is accustomed to running less than 30 seconds. The organizers said " carl you are in shape, you will do just fine" . Carl then tried to explain there is nothing healthy about running marathons and being a distant runner and that there is nothing healthy about being a sprinter either. You have all these people with cancer running in a marathon and all they are doing is breaking down their immune systems.
Dr kenneth cooper the person responsible for the aerobics and running craze that happened in the 70s and contiinues to this day has retracted his statement saying that aerobics, mainly running is good for your health. Especially extreme aerobic activity. After he wrote his book he started having more clients with heart attacks , strokes, foot, knee and back issues . He retracted his statement in the mid 90's but the running community only says he did so because he is in his 80 and must be senile. People that are sick, with cancer and people that haven't been running for years should not be running in marathons. Most people run marathons for the same reason, someone decides they want to get stronger in weightlifting. There is nothing healthy about guy clean and jerking 500 pounds over his head. Any thoughts?
