    mohegan sun scammed for 200k

now if you have to BET before the cards are dealt then how did they get an edge?

Two Queens men accused of pocketing $200,000 in Mohegan Sun card sharp scheme

Mohegan Sun is popular destination for gamblers in the northeast.

Two Queens men pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges they allegedly developed a card sharp scheme that took a Connecticut casino for about $200,000.
Leonard Hu and Hung Leung allegedly paid off a Mohegan Sun mini-baccarat dealer in Norwich, Conn. to help them carry out the conspiracy, cops said.
For $1,000-a-night, Jian Ng, an inside man who worked the casino's tables, marked the 7, 8, and 9 cards by bending them with his thumb, according to police.
Hu and Leung would then have an edge on each hand over the house, cops said.
The men pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony casino cheating and larceny charges in New London Superior Court in Conn. They posted bail and remain free, pending a trial or plea.
Police say that the seeds of the sting were sewn on a fall night a year ago when Hu and Ng met at the nearby Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Hu asked Ng to participate in the hustle and the crooked dealer agreed, according to authorities.
Then on Feb. 11 and in the early morning hours of Feb. 12, another dealer, Bong Louie, was also allegedly drafted into the scheme. He subtly marked the cards prior to the end of his shift, cops said.
Hu and Leung then approached the table and started playing, with no one the wiser that the deck had been stacked in their favor.
Hu made off with $101,600 and Leung finished with a cool $52,000, a state police arrest warrant affidavit says.
But the winnings were apparently not enough, as the greedy and enboldened Queens duo returned to the casino a week later and repeated the hustle - this time with Ng marking the cards.
On that second trip, Hu took in more than $25,000 and Leung, $6,100, cops said.
Ng and Louie were also arrested and charged with casino cheating and larceny and were released on bail. Their lawyers didn't return phone messages Tuesday.
No one answered the phone at Hu and Leung's Queens homes, and Mohegan Sun

If you win big you are profiled and if you do it again they know you are cheating. You are better off taking a million one night than 30k then 50k then 6k etc. People do go hot and win once but reoccuring is a major trigger.

I'm not a Baccarat or math pro so I'm not even going to attempt to understand this but in another article it said this: "Leung and Hu allegedly paid casino dealers Bong Gate Louie and Jian Bang Ng to mark the seven, eight and nine cards in baccarat and mini baccarat games, giving them a 21.53% advantage of winning each hand."

How marking the 7, 8 and 9 could achieve over a 21% edge I have no clue.

Ah, here's an explanation. This was going to drive me nuts until I found something.

"Card marking in Baccarat is extremely attractive. Once specific cards are marked, the information can provide the cheater an extremely profitable and hard-to-detect scam. Because Baccarat lacks player hand strategy options, and because the players are allowed to bet on both sides of the wagering decision, first or “top card” information can be exploited, while detection in a timely manner is highly unlikely.

By marking the 9-, 8- and 7-value cards, the cheater can obtain vital top card information that will result in a theoretical edge of about 15 percent (see Table 1) when a marked card sits in the window of the Baccarat dealing shoe prior to the next hand. When the cheater spies a marked card, he or she will bet on the “player,” as the first card dealt from the shoe is always given to the “player’s” hand. With all the 9s, 8s and 7s marked, cheaters spy a marked top card about once out of every four to five hands (96 out of 416 cards, or 23 percent of the time in an eight-deck shoe). In situations where marking the cards takes deception to accomplish, cheats may mark only the 9s and 8s.

oh i thought the top card was totally hidden, this answers a lot

i would think their advantage was much greater than 15% as they probably loaded up with an 8 or 9 was on top

Amazing, right??? That's why I'm always fascinated by cheating stories. Not only am I blown away that people still have the balls to mark cards in a casino in 2011 but the sheer stupidity of these 2 going back to the same casino a week after already taking them for over $150k is just astounding. Why not just take the cash and if you're really that much of a greedy arse then try finding another dodgy dealer at a different casino? I never knew Baccarat could be cheated like this though. I love learning stuff like this.

Uh what? You can't figure out how marking 7,8,9 (the most important cards in bacarrat) would give them a huge advantage?

usually this kind of stuff is done with a special ink. then the player wears special "blue-light" sunglasses and can see the top card.

these guys were just smart enough to make money, but dumb enough to not use technology that would let them repeat the scam a few times.

If I could scam the casino for 100,000 dollar a night then I would possible also return a week later to take more.

exactly.. the min they even walked in .. all eyes were on them... if they were smart.. they would have gotten two friends they trusted to go play with there money.. or just run them up as much as possible on the first night.. and cash out.. bent cards .. i mean.. they are gonna pick that up .. what i want to know is how the dealer managed to bend all the 7,8 , 9 's without cameras or anyone noticing

The thing is though the cards sit in a shoe. Only the first card might be visible from the shoe. I dont know how this could help them get that big of an edge. There have been a couple cheating teams have dealers not shuffle deck after the shoe and then they know what cards are coming on the next shoe. Those cheaters got caught to because they won millions each time and security is going to run the tape.

asians are ridiculous...especially at the woods or mohegan...i mean...you have your smart asian gamblers...with good rolls....who know how to play....then you have the ones that pack themselves on the bus trips, who dress like shit, and think they know how to gamble....ive seen em all up there....there are some real pieces of work.....some of them are knowitalls too

years ago...i had an asian lady come up and want to back line one my multiple blackjack hands....i said sure....she put 50 bucks down.....i won 8 hands in a row....hit 2 blackjacks....not once did she pull anything off...she kept taking her winnings and putting it right back behind my hand.....as if i was never going to lose another hand.....im kept thinking to myself 'why dont u take some of that down or give me a few bucks for letting you play behind me'....i laughed when i lost a hand and she and her friend walked away.....
