    What is your political affiliation?

Just curious. The 2012 elections will be rolling around soon, and I think we will have some very interesting primaries ahead, as well as general election. I used to consider myself a hardcore democrat, but my thoughts and loyalties are changing with the times. I now consider myself a left-leaning independent.. Reason being, I find myself, as always leaning left when it comes to social issues, but being more conservative when it comes to fiscal issues. I'm ambiguous when it come to the whole healthcare issue.. I think everyone needs and should have health insurance, but the republicans make a valid point in stating, "how are we gonna pay for it"? I'm sure there have been threads like this made before, but I'm just curious, do you consider yourself, dem, repub, independent, or something else.? - and why?

I'm libertarian (not the political party), and I don't vote. You have a better chance of getting killed by a drunk driver or getting struck by lighting than you do at influencing the result of an election with your vote.

One man, one vote just means that each person in a district is entitled to equal legislative representation (one man's vote is worse the same as another person's vote). The equal legislative representation is meaningless though, because your vote doesn't make a difference.

I have to agree with you there.. However, dems and repubs disagree on how to "encourage business".

True. I'm a big fan of smaller government. They obviously serve a great purpose, but they are far from efficient IMO.

I think the best way to encourage business/jobs/general prosperity is a simple tax code for businesses and individuals, less government spending, and low taxes on capital gains/dividends.

Not saying its ideal, but there is no doubt in my mind that it would help. I have a lot of faith in the American entrepeneurial spirit and work ethic, so maybe I'm a little optimistic

Hell yes. Paul Ryan's tax code in the Roadmap looks pretty damn perfect, and Ron Paul supports about the same.

As a technical Republican, the pandering to the religious right pisses me off. Who gives a fukk if gays can get married? Let them have the same legal rights. Its ridiculous not to. Abortion should be a state issue, not federal, same with gay marriage. Bitching about these trivial things only hurts the fiscal conservative movement, which isn't good lol

Wow, we are in absolute synch in our political thoughts. The social issues have always been what scare independents away from the right.

I find myself very liberal on social issues and more conservative on economical. I think if we quit worrying so much about whos marrying who & whos smoking what & more about making this country an industrial leader we would be a lot better off.

We dont build a goddamn thing anymore.

I am now 1000% sure "we" are not in control of our political process anymore...

First they trot out a Fukkin house wife to be vice president...

We have a hippie/communist in office right now that can't even produce a birth certificate... You couldn't make up better theatre if you tried..

They are either fukking with us or know everything is about to end and it doesn't matter...

Faking the Bin Laden Raid was the final straw for me..

Say what you want, Donald Trump did more with a couple questions than anyone else has done trying to find out what is really going on behind closed doors...

I agree. Doesn't help that the Repubs offer terrible candidates like Palin. I would love to see Ron Paul have a bigger role (maybe not Pres though... still undecided), Paul Ryan, and my big dark horse, Colonel Allen West of Florida. He's the man, but probably not politically correct enough for a chance yet. Check him out.

Libertarian. Individual freedoms are the area of my biggest concern. Both Democrats and Republicans suck on individual freedoms.
