The guy has a legendary name and people think it sounds cool to be connected to it. I am surpirsed Doyle brunson isnt thrown about more, maybe because he actually is still in the spotlight in terms of gambling. While Walters was never ever in it. But that just helps lend to the mystery. because he is too 'smart' to get caught up. Truth is somewhere in the middle to be sure.

But people think this guy cant make a losing bet and everything he plays is as good as gold. he made money just like anyone else with brains did back then. he used his money (well money he got from less than legal ventures) to make moves and cause his own money to makemoney for him.

Shit I remember being able to bet 8-10K on a baseball game and watch a guy erase the odds and move the line 15 cents before I left the window. Giving you a nickle scalp right there, sometimes more if they were lopsided before you made it. Then pf cuorse you could wait to see if it moved again later and pick up another 3 to 5 cents. Which is pretty much what those guys did as well. when you can arbitrage a million or more a day that is basically a license to print money. And during baseball thats a 9 monthbusiness of free money rolling in. And it isnt exactly gambling when you know that the worst you can do is buy back for the same price you bought and at least break even.

Don't you have to bet more money? That is still a hedge isn't it. No different that what the regular guy does to guarantee a profit. I didn't think it was a big deal.

The thing is he cant do now what he used to do then. Some people give him credit for it, but it was a bunch of guys doing the same thing.

Back when you could actually bet money on a sporting event the number would change because of it. nowadays books move on air and have such ridiculous limits you would have to make about 20 bets to even start thinking about effecting a line. Thats why sportsbetting isnt a real good way to make money these days. And why he got out of it and went into other stuff. That and it takes a lot of money to make little money doing it the way he did.

Either way it is good to see this sort of stuff being rerun over and over again. good propaganda for a struggling Vegas to get more get rich quick degenerates in there.
