Week 1 NFL Recap
-New Orleans QB Drew Brees completed 27 of 36 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown in a 14-9 victory over Minnesota.
-It was the lowest-scoring victory of the Sean Payton era, which begain in 2006, limiting Minnesota QB Brett Favre to 171 yards.
-The Saints outgained the Vikings 308-253 and controlled the ball for 33:43, compared to 26:17 for Minnesota.
-The defending Super Bowl champion has played host to the last seven Thursday night openers and won them all.
-Chicago QB Jay Cutler threw for 372 yards in leading the Bears to a 19-14 win over Detroit. The Bears outgained the Lions 463-168 in the contest.
-The Lions dropped their 21st straight road loss since a win at Soldier Field in October 2007.
-Tennessee RB Chris Johnson ran for 142 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-13 home win over the Raiders.
-The Titans defense sacked Raiders QB Jason Campbell four times and forced two turnovers. Oakland had just 106 yards of total offense at halftime.
-Titans QB Vince Young picked up his ninth career game with two or more TD passes, with the team going 8-1 in those games.
-Cincinnati WRs Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens combined for 19 receptions and 212 yards and a touchdown.

-New York Giants outgained the Panthers 196-72 in the last two periods, in a game that had nine turnovers and 16 penalties.
-Pittsburgh RB Rashard Mendenhall carried the ball 22 times for 120 yards and the defense held Atlanta to 58 yards rushing.
-The Steelers won their eighth straight opener, the NFL’s longest streak. Pittsburgh has won 21 of its past 25 games against the NFL.
-The Falcons are 2-12-1 all-time against the Steelers, including a 0-6-1 mark in Pittsburgh.
-Cleveland is 1-11 in openers since the club returned as an expansion franchise in 1999.
