Why would the players hate the kid? This was a ploy by Williams to get rid of a fat contract. Throw shit on the wall and see if it sticks. This could backfire big time. Since the players are now against him they can start throwing games away until management is forced to fire him.

From a gambler's perspective I would bet against Whitesox in the beginning of season until Williams is gone.
