It's all sideshow and spectacle. It's a "look at me, I got tickets" for pompous noobs to chase clout.

Why do I need a 45 minute halftime in a 60 minute game?

Why do I need a game where the commercial breaks are the stars of the show?

The Super Bowls have been responsible for some of the most boring football games of the season.

Don't get me wrong, the playoffs are usually great, but the Super Bowl is just a dramatic way of reminding us it's over. The other major sports' finales are superior imo and I'd argue that even the March Madness championship is better.

Let's get this ballyhooed lump of coal over with and break out the fishing rods.

The seasons over and this is like a celebration.
Too me, two weeks ago was the pinnacle of the season.

Agreed the actual playing time is like 10 minutes. You get a few good runs a couple good catches and a fumble and an interception. The rest of the 4 hours will be spend on the camera showing the celebrities, overrated halftime show and the refs looking at the monitors for challenges.

I agree with 90 percent of Eddy's OP.

I'm looking forward to the game however, I think SF v. KC is a good matchup that has the potential to be a great SB game, until some zebra throws a flag on a phantom PI call and disrupts the rhythm of the game and screw me out of six points in the process.

The best games are the ones where the refs just let them play and don't call ticktack touch penalties.

The Kickoff is 6:30 Nasher time, I call BS on that, I bet it's more like 6:38-6:42.
I'll tune into CBS at 6:20, I don't want to listen to four hours of pre-game nonsense.

I'll probably give Usher five minutes of half time then say to myself "I really don't care much for Usher's music" (he and his crew are very talented though; I have to give credit where credit is due) get up, take a monster porcelain massive, go to kitchen, grab another heap plate of Ally's lasagna, come back for the second half.

Like I said, it should be a good game, but my money is on something will screw it up.

The pomp and vanity of the Super Bowl is a bit over the top for my tastes, and the whole affair comes off overly contrived. Personally, I haven't watched a commercial or halftime show in years. I always host, and commercials are a good time to work on the chicken wings, and halftime is an opportune moment to sneak out back and smoke a cigar. Certainly, the years with a dud game do feel anticlimactic and leave an aftertaste of disappointment, especially when the bets didn't cash. That said, we've had a number of entertaining games with dramatic finishes the last 25 years, and I don't feel the uninspiring games happen at a higher rate than a typical football game.

Only memorable ones were Saints and Giants winning the bowl, most other games were on par with playoff games. Seen way better playoff and conference games over the years. The only way this game will be exciting if purdy matches or outplays mahomes. A lot of people are tired of mahomes era already because its similar to the pats which was also tiring.

yup, basically how I feel Nash!......Happy to say I've haven't watched any pregame bullshit for the last 35 years! Just run my errands, get the food and drinks ready (if the party was at my house), etc. and then turn on the game about a minute or two right before kickoff!...

No, not really. The game is often flat as well, the atmosphere is not as impassioned as the playoffs or even meaningful regular season games. Some of that has to do with it being a neutral site, or maybe the week off leading up to the game, but the environment is sterile even though it's buzzing with activity with the added press passes and whatnot. It's all very phony. The TV production masks it a bit, but I'd never pay that kind of money for a SB ticket. I'd rather have decent seats at an NBA Finals game and that's the truth.

A lot of times the game play is lethargic, at least to start. Take the Pats/Giants Super Bowl with the David Tyree helmet catch... A lot of people regard that as a legendary game, but it really boiled down to a few drives in the 4th quarter that made it memorable. The first three quarters were an absolute snore fest; that game was about to become one of the most forgettable of all time until it pulled a rabbit out of its hat at the end.

The Super Bowl is like watching "Celebrity Jeopardy" where it's the same game but you get the sense that something's off.
