Dude gets benched for "'performance based reasons" which is code for sucking all season, gets benched, gets butt hurt for suckings, and quits.

Good luck getting another job in football Karen, oops my bad, Marcus, no team in their right mind is going to give you a look.

He got benched, then decided to quit and get the knee looked at or whatever.
I don't know the entire medical history, but still, he had a hissy fit after the benching.

I played baseball in college, if a teammate got benched, he took extra batting practice, took extra grounders in practice, whatever it took.

I might be just me, but I don't like quitters like that.

But that's like one nancy boy (Mariota) replacing another nancy boy (Russell Wilson)

Mariota and Ridder played a similar style in preseason when both looked pretty decent. Not surprised to see Ridder get some game time experience with the Falcons season effectively over. No reason to make Mariota watch as the back-up. Mariota is a decent QB and he should get $4-5M interest in March 2023.

Falcons a game back in the division.

If they win out, they'd be about 50/50 to win the division per fivethirtyeight.

Mariota had been through quite a bit, and by all accounts over the years has been a great leader. I think it’s very short sighted to just assume this is him throwing a temper tantrum because he got benched. There’s clearly more to this, and we’ve only gotten one side

They're currently listed as having a 13.9% chance at:

    https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/nfl/playoff-odds

...because they'll lose out on tie-breakers. Even if they win the division they're not going to be a playoff force. It's a good opportunity to find out what the rookie can do, and they're being pragmatic. They don't want to guarantee Mariota $12M for 2023 and they need to know if they need to draft another starting QB. Mariota has been put on season-ending IR, presumably so he'll be healthy enough to be cut in early March.

yes, but my point is they have 3 winnable games and if they win those 3 they're 50/50 to get in

Another NFL Diva. Reminds me of Kappernick when he got benched.

These Divs's are still collecting NFL checks but are crying because they are benched over a better QB on the roster or because of poor play.

It was because of injury, then Tannehill won the job

He didn't leave. His wife had a baby. And he was put on IR to take care of a knee injury.

If Mariota acted the way he did.... its pure emotional instinct that he knew he'd never make it for another team. Tantrum or no tantrum... he's simply not good enough. He was already scheduled to lose the starting position.
