    NFL Futures 2022-23

Raiders already went from +5000 to +4000 at Bovada. I still think getting +4000 on a playoff team with a good QB/RB and Defense is a decent value. I played at +5000 last night.

Rams +1000 I might hit just because I am a homer

Bengals +1100 - pass - the superbowl hangover is real

Will post more as the season gets closer.

    Thoughts on the current odds?

The best value in the NFL futures market is betting teams to win division. Isolating it to 5 teams and picking the team to finish first.

There are 3 main problems with betting the super bowl futures market.

The season is long and one injury can destroy a season very quickly, the playoffs are one and done, so variance is always very high, and the books will always charge far more vig in this futures market than other markets.

The Bengals should be 20-1 with their offensive line issues, which they may or may not effectively address in the offseason. A single game never has 500 cents of extra vig, the futures market often does.

The Bills were the best team in the AFC this year at the end of the year, but they blew the game with 13 seconds left and they didn't have home advantage in the playoffs because they weren't consistent early in the season.

If the Bengals had to play the Bills in the AFC championship game they lose.

The Bengals were lucky to beat both Tennessee and Kansas City, 11-1 on a team that was lucky just to get to the AFC championship game is horrible value.

The Rams are interesting to me, although I don't bet this market for reasons I detailed in my last post, for several reasons.

First, Stafford will be in his second year in the system, he should be better next year. Beckham, presuming he doesn't have a major injury, will be in his second year in the system too, and they will get Woods back. The Rams will also have a full year to integrate Miller and they will get Akers back.

The NFC West also doesn't look that strong. The 49ers have no quarterback, Seattle is a team in transition, and Murry gets exposed late in the year every season.

Stafford and Beckham both in their second year in the system and Brady retired, Rodgers on his way out, the NFC looks weak. 5 of the top 7 quarterbacks in the league will be in the AFC.

Rule number one in the NFL futures market, don't ever bet a dollar on a team to win anything in the playoffs if you don't think they will win their division. The Raiders aren't winning that division, they aren't even the second best team in their division.

this was hilarious... they admitted to the SB being like a movie having a script right to our faces

then they brought out the rock... who made his name in the WWE to introduce the teams with some of his WWE lines

the NFL is literally trolling and mocking the people left who still believe that pro sports are legit

can't see it. no way Darnold leads them to the playoffs. He is a back up in this league. IMO.

Who do you think they won't resign? Whit likely retires so you have to resign Noteboom. You probably won't be able to sign Von Miller. Beckham will stay on a team friendly deal. Joseph-Day and Michel gone. But really not a big loss since they basically back fill these positions with the draft and UDFA signings.

The core still seems pretty intact.

They traded a second round and third round pick for Miller, you don't trade that much for a player for 6 months. You are overrating Miller's value, he's going to be 32, his market value isn't very high, the Rams shouldn't have any issue bringing him back if they want to.

Beckham should be easy to sign on a 1 year prove it deal and since Beckham will likely be on a prove it deal the Rams will likely get his best.

The running back position is the easiest position to upgrade in the draft, and with Akers fumbles and injury history the Rams will likely draft a running back.

Their whole team should more or less be back next year.

Noteboom also looked good in limited action and Whitworth at age 40 was far from stellar.

I thought Noteboom improved a lot this year and when he got the opportunity he was better than whitworth.

Anyone who wants to bet the Rams to win the super bowl should bet them now - the odds will change noticeably if Rodgers retires

My strategy is to flat bet the same amount the Chiefs and Bengals super bowl futures for the next few seasons. A very good chance these teams will win the super bowl. The NFC side is wide open after Tom Brady retires and Aaron Rodgers leaves the Packers to an AFC team.

yeah get your drift right now Mahomes, and Burrow along with Allen the best Qb's in the AFC. But these type of bets are risky because of the potential for injuries. Good luck.

I discovered this super bowl loss trend. Looks like Joe Burrow and the Bengals are a trap bet unless they can actually get to the super bowl again. Chiefs and Bills are the AFC favorites.
