    Giants / Browns line?

Is there a line out yet?
I've searched all the usual places, nothing.

Tell me about it, I'm a NJ born life long Giants homer.

I go all the way back to when I was a kid when everyone in attendance at the 1979 NFL draft booed like hell when the Giants elected number seven overall in the first round Phil Simms. I was like "give him a chance", the casual fan in the 80's didn't have all cable access to Moorhead State and such. Simms turned out just fine he only won a SB MVP award.

Danny Jones will be just fine too, take away that strip sack blind sided fumble that wasn't his fault last week he's cut way down on his turnovers.
Jones can run too, remember Simms fist year and half mirrors Jones first 20 starts.

That's their MO, in must win, have to have it, with three games to go they almost always either a) shit the bed, or b) surprise the shit out of you. I kind of expected that Arizona loss last week, I'm kind of expecting a big Giants effort this week. Bradberry has made that defense legit.

Here's the thing, I am reluctant to bet my home town team this week, I think Jones is one season away from being "prime time".
He's getting there (providing the hammy is 100 percent) he's just not quite there yet.

Passing on the side which most shops have -4.5 Cleveland, gun to head I'll take the points but passing for now.
Now the total which is 45.5 looks very enticing.
I'm not an 'under' bettor per se, but that 45.5 IMO is to high.
Cleveland and Baker will not get their nut off again like they did against Balty.
Like I said the Giants defense is legit.
Under is a strong play from where I sit.

The difference is that Phil Simms, a below average QB, had a killer defense led by the greatest LB corps in history; Daniel Jones probably won't be so lucky.

Simms was very smart, he knew what he could and could not do.
22 for 25 against Denver's defense in the SB was no accident. He also rushed for like 30 yards or so that SB too.
George Martin's sack of Elway for that safety was the beginning of the end for the Broncos.

Simms was not a below average QB by the way.
He wasn't Montana, but Simms was not below average.

He lit up the Broncos' swiss cheese defense the same way Doug Williams, never a good passer, did the following year in the Super Bowl. Put Simms on an average team in the 80's and he'd have been a career back-up.

How many 4000 yard in a season passers can you name? You're way off. He was a pretty good passer.

From 1985-1990 who was better than Simms?

    Marino
    Elway
    Montana
    Kelly
That's pretty much it, and how many of those QB's mentioned above are Hall of Famers?
And Simms was one of the best of what Parcells needed him for.
    Game management.
Parcells depended on his defense to win the game and Simms to manage the offense.
And he did it as good as anybody.

"Game manager" and "smart player who knew what he could and couldn't do" are euphemisms for "average at best". Plenty of QB's were better than Simms but weren't surrounded by superb talent. When he got hurt prior to the '90 playoffs, Jeff Hostetler, no great talent, filled in and won the title.
