Hey guys. I am 20 years old in pursuit of becoming a professional gambler. I've been successful playing poker in the past 3 years which has taught me to follow my own intuition and analyze situations thoroughly; this led me into a similar venture: sports betting. In the short term I always seem to have the edge, I am very confident in my ability to pick games and in my ability to take ugly losses. My biggest downfall, like many of you, is improper bankroll management. Last year around March I was betting between 1000-2000 on some NBA games with a bankroll under 10,000 and it was all adrenaline filled cookies and rainbows until I realized, wow, all my money is gone. I was shit broke, and I've been there before but not like this. So this is my thread, I will be posting serious plays in high volume at 1-4 units each in an attempt to log my record and get a good idea of where I stand in trying to do this thing as a living.
A unit will be $50 for me, please tail at your own discretion because I have never done spreads before, I was always big on moneylines but those can be very erratic as I've learned. My key goal is to buy low sell high, that is, take the spreads that I believe are skewed and give me a better chance than the odds that are given. One thing that you all forget is that sports betting is very similar to poker. There is a rake paid to the bookie, but he is not our opposition, he is simply providing a service. We are playing against the millions of other sports bettors who directly influence the spreads and lines of games and their mistakes are your only edge. Good luck everyone.
