Why do coaches make these decesions?

i messed up at posted this in wrong catagory first

Ok i am not even talking about the offsides that takes it to the 2 min warning, but lets look at this

2:04 seconds left you call your timeout? Why
The offense now can throw the ball and it doesnt matter because its stopping at 2 mins.

If you let it run to 2.00 mins and keep the one time out it does this
on 3-7 it makes the offense make a decesion. To run and make you use your time out or you can throw and risk a imcompletion and you keep your timeout..
Idiots need to think these through before the game

Hey guy, I saw this in an NFL game last year and made a thread about it

    http://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/players-ta...right-now.html

Foolishly I thought people of SBR would understand clock management. Clearly they are as stupid as the coaches who pull these stunts.

Dont expect people here to understand. Maybe post in handicappers think tank to get an educated response.

But yes, you are right. Horrible strategy to take a TO outside the 2 min warning. Warrants an immediate firing if Im the owner of a team.

Tomlin is one of those coaches who makes decisions "on feel", he's said so himself. He's not an X's and O's or numbers guy as much as he is a motivator and leader. Good football coach in general.

sadly, coaches usually just aren't intelligent enough to make the right decision when clock management is involved.

packers/lions yesterday, with 1:40 left and the lions holding 2 timeouts, down 1, they should've let the packers score on 1st down.

i would much rather be down 8 with the ball, 1:30 on the clock and 2 timeouts, than get the ball down 4 with 20 seconds left.

He was trying to be sharp by calling the timeout before the 2 minute warning.
