7-9. Teams will start to adjust to Cam Newton. He's going to begin to become the Cam Newton everyone thought he'd be, and less of the top tier type QB that he seemed like last year.

He's good, I'm not doubting that. But he wont be as effective as last year. Run capable QB's always get figured out eventually.

Books will overvalue them. Look at the spreads now, only +3 at Chicago, pk vs Denver. -1 vs Dallas, Joke.

definitely overvalued as k13 said. Public has too high of a perception of them. Defenses will have more tape on Cam. 6-10 is very realistic with that division.

I think they'll be 4-6/5-5 after 10 games, but then they have the potential to go 1-5 in their last 6 games of the year (@PHI,@KC,ATL,@SD,OAK,@NO). I think their offense continues to produce at a high level, but with Cam running a bit less. They drafted for defense, which is good, but they still have a long way to go in tightening up defensively. They're running very low on CBs already so opponents with strong passing games should continue to torch them.

I think 7-9 is about the best you can reasonably hope for, assuming Cam regresses a bit from 2011 in terms of total yardage, but I think his scoring efficiency will increase. His ability to keep the Panthers in the game shouldn't be undervalued, and there's potential for them to steal 1-2 close games if they can put a consistent product on the field every week.

Excellent point. Teams will have last seasons tape on him and all of the good teams that he will play down the stretch will also have another half season of tape on him as to how hes adjusted. Rivera would be wise not to open up the whole playbook early on.

If Newton plays like he did last year, think Carolina wins at least 9 games. But that is a Big IF. Last year they played both the Pack and Saints tough at home, and beat the Texans on the road. Defense should be improved. Like Riveria as coach. Outside shot to make playoffs.
