And I am mad because I lost the bet, but I'm not wrong....In terms of football intelligence and strategy is it ever the right decision to go for it on fourth down when you are up 3 scores instead of kicking a field goal that would make it four scores, and you're on the 11 yard line?????I think not...if I'm wrong please someone let me know

i think the percentage chance that you make the 4th down conversion, far outweighs, the chances of a team getting 3 td's AND 3 straight two point conversions... fact is, that teams don't have that many short yardage (2-point) conversion plays that will work on a short 2 yard field..... might as well go for the jugular....and COUNT on your Defense, that has held a team to 0 points all day.


can't try to compare point spreads that we choose to take, and nfl strategies..somtimes coaches go on gut instinct..or how well they know their team..

.......no chi archie sorry you're wrong again....It doesnt matter what the odds are that a team scores 3 straight touchdowns and gets 3 straight 2 point conversions. The fact is it COULD happen and it is far more likely for that to happen, that for a team to get 3 straight touchdowns with 3 2-point conversions AND a field goal. Which is exactly why the thing you do there if you have a brain that you use is kick the field goal.

yeah, I'd count on my D that is pitching a shut out here. with like negative total yards allowed at that point...

tactically if you are Oakland, I mean if you miss the first out of those 3 2 point conversations... it is 24-6 and you are down 18 now, basically still needing 3 scores. So i'm not even sure you go for 2 if you score when down 24-0.

I completely understand that it's unlikely for it to happen. however if you are up 3 scores EARLY in the 2nd half you have to take the points to make it 4 scores. Later in the game I'd understand going for it, simply for a chance to run out more clock and pin the opponents deep if you dont get it. And I do understand that betting on games sometimes warps perceptions, however in this case the right call was to go for a field goal, no question about it
