Auburn F Dollard leaves team, F Prowell suspended

AUBURN, Alabama (Ticker) -- Auburn men's basketball took a double hit on Monday, announcing forward Josh Dollard will take a leave of absence and forward Quan Prowell was suspended.

The junior Dollard will leave the team due to medical reasons and will redshirt the upcoming season.

It is unknown what medical situation is facing the 6-7 Dollard, who led the Tigers in both scoring and rebounding last season with 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds, respectively.

"The important thing is that Josh has the support of his coaches and teammates," Auburn coach Jeff Lebo said. "We hope that everyone will respect his privacy."

The senior Prowell will be suspended for at least the first six games of the season due to a violation of team rules.

This is not the first time that the 6-8 Prowell has faced a suspension, missing the first 11 games of last season.

"Quan needs to focus on his priorities," Lebo said. "When he begins to exhibit the qualities of accountability and dependability, he will be welcomed back to play with us."

In 22 games last season, including nine starts, Prowell averaged 12.0 points while shooting 43 percent (35-of-81) from 3-point range and grabbed 5.3 rebounds.

The Tigers play their only exhibition game against Bluefield College on Thursday before opening the season at Tulane on November 9.
