Nashy, I believe UConn Men have a chance...

to set a record. They could make the Final Four with least distance travelled to the two sites.

Storrs CT is located between NY City and Boston. Distance = 140 + 90 = 230 miles (approximately).

I thought the Mich St route via Columbus OH and Detroit MI was short. This could be even shorter.

What do you think? I don't believe NC/Duke ever went BOTH sites in-state.

Louis/KY MIGHT have had short trips if they went via Louis/Lexington and then Indianapolis.

I don't have the time to research that right now as my plate is full right now, I'm multi-tasking like a jack rabbit here.
I'll dig into this later tonight.

I'll say this though, that's one of the advantages of being the #1 overall seed.
This is how you'd go about it though, take a look at the previous overall #1 seeds, then look at where their first and second round games were hosted...

I do believe UCONN is the first repeat champion to reach the Sweet Sixteen in eight years.

Interesting question, I'll do my voodoo later.

Not really asking you to research. Just an observation.

Plays to your point about earning a 1-seed. People won't like it. But geographical preference does come with being a 1-seed.

I don't disagree, Dan. Illini are a nice team.

My big theme here is that UConn is practically playing at home. Will the game feel like a Home game?

Thx, Nashy. That's what is holding me off on this game. Likely a pass for me.

Great thread on UConn's offensive execution. The variations of one play in particular:

    Terrific link, thanks.

Most college teams use pretty much ball screens.

Coach Hurley, like Mr. Calhoun before him plays a motion offense.
And besides ball screens UConn uses back screens, stagger screens (which is pretty much a double off a ball screen) watch Spencer run around two screeners is a good example, pick screens, and my very favorite, that being the floppy gut screen.

Huskies use pro sets, inside out and outside in.
And on and on and on.

IMO, the best way to knock them off is try to frustrate them with a slow half court type offense.
Two quotes I read from two different reporters from the Athletic I respect.

One said "They ought to just rename this tournament to the UConn Invitational."
Another said UConn is an NBA team playing in a college tournament."

You know Rip Hamilton's team used to be my very favorite before Kemba Walker's team became my favorite.
This 2024 edition is extremely special, and I'm not talking hockey helmet wearing, sitting in the back of the short bus kind of special.

This is a dream team, a once in a lifetime dream team, and like the 2015 KC Royals, a team that gives and gave me so many great memories that I will take to my grave.
