i had a conversation with a couple of big-time coaches at a bar a couple of years ago, and one said that coaches definitely know what the spread is. that is not to say that they would coach with any regard for what the spread was or try to cover. it's more of a curiosity thing to see how Vegas thinks you stack up against your opponent. he said that it's a guilty pleasure, but he pretty much knows the USA Today line for all of his games and that he believes that most coaches are the same. the other coach just sat there and smiled and refused to comment (though he did say that Ben Howland's a prick).

coaches are also notorious for using the spread as a motivational ploy when they're underdogs - "you see, the entire world thinks that Michigan State is five points better than us, but in this locker room, we know that there isn't a team in the country that's five points better than us if we play our game."

If you are going to give wagering advice to other people it would behoove you to pull your head out of your a## and watch something other than Big East basketball.

First, St Louis probably has the best defense in the country for a mid-major. They really know how to muddy up a game and make it competitive till the final whistle. Again, try watching some A-10 basketball.

Second, the Big Ten had a fantastic year. Alot of solid teams out of the Big Ten...Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan State. And those are just the teams left in the tournament. Purdue for crying out loud was a minute away from knocking off Kansas. Again, try watching some Big-10 basketball.

Finally, please stop implying that Vegas somehow fixes these games. Clearly, the linemakers set traps to catch the public and protect their client but to imply that Vegas is going to kill futures and MLs is ridiculous.
