    my top ten definitely includes:
    Tom Izzo
    Brad Stephens
    Rick Majerus
    Coach K

haven't really thought out the rest. like Bo Ryan, Mike Brey and Tom Crean a lot, but top 10 is pretty lofty praise when there are 345 candidates.

Buzz Williams is probably the best halftime coach in the nation right now.

agree that Few and Bennett both excellent. Few's a great guy, too, had a beer with him two summers ago. he was in Cleveland working LeBron James' clinic at Akron the day of the Decision. ended up watching the Decision with Few and Mark Turgeon and two of the CBS guys (Goodman and Parrish) and drinking with them for a few hours. all four were great dudes.

Yea, I'll give you that. I was referring more towards Calipari and Self. They will never be on a top 10 best coaches list for me. Ever.

LORENZO ROMAR?! Maybe if he could get his team of NBA players to win on the road consistently he'd be mentioned in the top 50.

Roy Williams should be nominated for top ten underachieving coaches, have you seen the talent that they have on UNC and have you seen how UNC has played this year, Roy should have that team undefeated

i think that Romar was mentioned sarcastically. agree with you that his name doesn't belong within a mile of top ten in any serious discussion.

agree that Larranaga, Rose and Beilein are top-notch. good calls.

i'm an OSU homer, and am not crazy about Matta as an in-game coach. great recruiter and good a prepping a team for game/motivating his team, but his in-game adjustments against good coaches leave something to be desired (examples: Saturday against Sparty, every visit to Madison until this season). however, Matta still has room to grow and improve. believe me, i live in hope of that day that i argue for Matta's inclusion in top ten.

i think a lot of Shaka Smart as a coach. i have a real soft spot for all things VCU and Richmond since i'm from there. Shaka Smart will be in the conversation once he continues his recent success for five years or so (which i think that he will). i don't mean making the Final Four, of course, i mean being at the top of the Colonial and part of the at-large discussion. if he makes VCU into the CAA equivalent of Xavier/Gonzaga/Temple/Butler, and stays at VCU long-term (which is supposedly what he wants), he'll be automatic for any list of top coaches.

Shaka Smart's biggest obstacle: the VCU AD, Norwood Teague, is a cheapskate and a mongoloid. he would've gladly let him go after last season. fortunately, he doesn't weild all the power at VCU. i was actually very surprised (and pleasantly) to see VCU ante up to keep Smart after last year. if it had been solely Teague's call Smart would not be at VCU right now.
