Enjoying these crazy ass NFL games, but there's nothing like the NBA. My research has ended and I'm ready for this damn season to start. It's a cloudy, wet Sacramento day. I'm getting my head right and bout to call my dude to see if he has some of that good good. Good luck to all y'all, and remember that every season is full of these ups and downs. So keep it moving & keep the positive energy flowing. I'ma try to post 100% of my plays here, even when I'm on the road. Let's get this fetti!
Celtics PK vs. Heat for 1 unit
Celtics are too deep, too experienced and have too much pride to let MIA step on them opening day at home. The fact that we haven't seen the Heat play together yet, is big. I don't expect BOS to play this hard for the rest of the season. It's a set the tone kind of game.
Blazers -7.5 vs. Suns 1 unit. This ain't the same high scoring Suns squad from years past. They struggled to find any offensive unity in the preseason. No inside scoring big men...not shooting the ball well right now.... Mr. Nash is really gonna have to do it all this year. Childress is a game time decision and Turkoglu is a little banged up, but I expect both to play.
Rockets +7.5 @ Lakers 1 unit. No matter who the Rockets suit up, they always play LA tough. Scola is a hustler and Aaron Brooks will give the LA point guards trouble as usual. Lakers rarely have that killer instinct in games like these. Expect a squeaker.
Celtics -2.5 vs. Cavs 2 Units. I cannot believe the team that Cleveland is going to debut tomorrow. Bunch of scraps thrown together in one locker room. The Big 3 played around 40 minutes each last night vs MIA, but they should be getting a little more rest in this one. O'Neal played 18 minutes and should be good to go. Where is Cleveland going to go for offense is the question. This may seem like a trap game, with BOS being so old and on a back to back, but sometimes you have to take a chance. Bench heavily favors the Celtics. FYI, I did not buy 1 point. My book gave me a point discount on the Celtics.
Gotta start the day off with some Boston music, since they will be my only play today. After researching for most of the last two months, I don't feel comfortable with many of the teams yet. This season is definitely a big change from other years. Contracting might not be such a bad idea once you see some of these squads hit the court. Some of these rosters are unbelievable!
GL to everyone who locked in on the Celtics. They definitely should cover this one. I keep all my plays in my spreadsheet, including the money I put down on each game. My units fluctuate each day. I'm pretty much a flat bettor, unless I REALLY see something that is worth an extra few units...........
Celtics played last night like a late season game, and tonight like an early season game. If the Cavs put out efforts like tonight, they'll be ok this season. They're still a bunch of scraps though. Nate Robinson received a 'T', and Shaq followed that with another 'T', which changed the momentum for the Cavs. Celtics once again cannot hold onto a lead in the 2nd half. Something to really pay attention to going forward.
Great win for the Cavs as they can give LeBron 2 middle fingers with pride for at least a day.
Rockets +3.5 @ Warriors 1 unit Gotta go with the Hustlers aka the Rockets. No Yao tonight most likely due to the b2b, but Brad Miller grabbed 9 boards and hit some free throws last night. Scola will continue to hustle and hopefully won't continuously miss point blank lay ups like he did vs. the Lakers. The guards wash each other out, but I expect Martin and Brooks to have big stats. Rockets have won 9 straight vs. the Warriors and the last five played in Oaktown.
Clippers ML vs. Blazers 1 unit Portland looked and played uninterested last night up until the 4th quarter. Camby and Aldridge are their only bigs and that might be a problem against the slashing Blake Griffin and Captain Kaman. They should be able to get 1 of the two into foul trouble. Blazers have won 9 or 11 and 5 of 6 in LA vs. the Clippers.
Wizards +14 @ Magic 1 unit
I don't care what the Magic did in the preseason and 14 is too much to lay opening night. They have a big game against the Heat tomorrow night that they really want to win. On paper, this looks like a 25 point win for Orlando....
Cavs vs. Hawks Loss 7-12
76ers @ Wizards Win 8-12
Heat vs. T'Wolves Win 9-12
Bucks vs. Blazers Loss 9-13
Gonna try my hand at the Grizz getting 9 points. Haven't had a winning night since last tuesday, so this is more of a 'f\*\*k it' play. A win may get me out of the rut. Hopefully the Lakers take it easy on them tonight. Zack Randolph might be back, but that shouldn't matter much because his ass still hurts.
