    Top 100?

Don't let slayer kill the board. Bird is in the conversation for "Best Forward to ever play."

If you break it down further, he's probably the best 3-man in NBA history. Combination of scoring/passing/rebounding.

Some consider Lebron James to be a 3-man (if not a 2-man). After Lebron retires, people can debate Lebron vs Larry. That's how high Larry ranks on the All Time list.

    He was Incredible .
Don’t know exactly where you put him on a list but it would certainly be closer to the top than the bottom.
He made everyone around him better and he was great.

The WHITE GUY thing is another conversation. Point is that Larry transcends the color-barrier.

NBA has had an amazing drought of American white-guys over the L30 years. FWIW, my three favorite white-guys from the L40 years = Larry, Mark Price and Jeff Hornacek.

Jeff Ruland was fun to watch but that more like 45-50 years. Usually started a bit slow but after he got smacked around his exposed skin was pink. Once he got pink, he got nasty as hell.lol. Mahorn fed off that attitude.

I thought this was a Larry Bird is dead thread. Whew.

Larry Legend was insanely good in his prime and when his back wasn't killing him.

Best pure clutch shooter I ever saw. I don't think I ever saw him miss a shot when the game was on the line.

Dominated the 80's but would be nothing special now; he might, as Dennis Rodman said, be playing in Europe if he played today.

They are but the great white players have dried up. Last couple were Chris Mullin + John Stockton.

Think about it. Who is the best American white player drafted later than 1990?

A lot of great Larry stories.

He was playing the Xmas day game. Makes an early 3 in front of the opponent bench.

Turns and faces the opponent bench on his way back. "Merry fukin Xmas."

In terms of FINANCIAL success, Yes. Those guys have done great.

Think about my question. The answers are really pretty modest. Start with guys who at least made one All Star game.

*People knock Christian Laettner. He was a pretty good pro.
*JJ Redick had a pretty good career.
*Kevin Love won a title. He's had a pretty lengthy career.

Get my point? There's not a superstar on the list.

Very good, EZ. From a decade earlier. He had an excellent skill game.

Also, Barry won an ABA title + an NBA title. Not an easy achievement. One small asterisk.*

*Oakland Oaks won the title while Barry was injured.

Outstanding player. EZ, here's another tagline that one has to attribute to Rick Barry.

*If you're a horse fan, Rick Barry was very likely the greatest sire in NBA history.

Both Larry and Barry had elite games, but they also both would rip your heart out to win a game

Score, defend, rebound, pass, get on the floor for loose balls, clutch, relentless

    All at an elite level

Modern day players aren't familiar with this stuff

Very true. Spilled their guts to win a game. And if you gave them a late FT, they'd make it for sure.

Also, Mokeski was quite good. Good shooter for a big-man.

Mokeski was OK, but I was joking about him being elite

I liked him because of his hair, the way he pulled his socks up high, and not being able to jump an inch off the ground

My friend saw Mokeski hammered sitting on the curb. Guess he liked the bottle back in the day.
