Phil Jackson and Mike D'Antoni are the leading candidates to replace Mike Brown as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne on Friday.

If Phil Jackson asks the owner to re-name the stadium Phil Jackson arena or he won't come back to coach the Lakers....guess what....the're re-naming the Staples Center.
This saga is so uneccesarily drawn out.....
Phil is demanding a shit ton. D'Antoni and Nash is very viable. A pick and roll system with Nash and D.Howard/Gasol is insanely deadly. And that doesn't even include the best player on that team.
Phil will only come back if he doesn't have to go on the road, and basically wants GMing abilities.
D'Antoni doesn't ask for any of that.
Also, Kobe's favorite player growing up was D'Antoni.
The main thing to take away here is that Phil wouldn't even dream of coming back unless he thinks he could win it all.

The Lakers will be fine. Their defense will be fine. Mike D never had a guy like Dwight to patrol the paint in Phoenix. They'll be very fun to watch. 12 seconds or less offense will be installed. Would prefer 7 seconds or less but the team is too old so 12 seconds or less will be fine.
