He is, and he's actually not terrible just a shooter. You might assume he's just a specialist so he's a terrible defender, etc., but his defense has actually improved a lot. He works very hard and his full court game is very very solid. Moves well without the ball and an underrated passer. Obviously not the best athlete, but he works hard and has good size. At this stage I think he's a better player right now than Ray Allen. I think he might be better than Rip Hamilton too.

WEnt to creighton...up in Omaha which is right up the road from Lincoln. had the pleasure of watching him in college. Great player, always works hard, and commits to the team. Great definition of a role player..can't win titles without players like him that don't care about stardom

Novak similarly a great shooter, but otherwise not nearly as good overall. Big defensive liability.

That's not selfishness. He's supposed to shoot. That's his job. That's what his coaches and teammates want and expect him to do. If he's open, he shoots. It's that simple. Even if he's missed his last 5 shots. Otherwise he wouldn't be in the game.

If he just passed the ball his coach would get on his ass. They put him in the game because they depend on him to shoot those 3's.

Pretty much a coinflip shooting-wise, their percentages are very close. But Korver is a much better overall player. Novak is the "smallest" 6'10 player ever. There's a reason why he's played for 5 teams in 6 years and never averaged 18 mins per game.

Good points. Shooting % numbers very close. Korver trending up quickly. I used to wince a bit when he would get isolated on defense. He seemed flat footed and slow. Watch him now. He's up on his toes and more aggressive. Gaining respect of Ref's. They are letting him play on defense and watching for moving picks against him as he roams the baseline and 3-point line on offense. Confidence is a wonderful thing. Even more important for a role player like Novak/Korver. Rebounds, blocks, hustle plays are all big bonuses and allow the coach to keep you on the floor for extended minutes.

Korver is peaking at the right time. Last two games, 7 rebounds each. A 3 point shooter fighting for rebounds? Three blocked shots against the Knicks. Huge game against Heat. It won't show up in the stat book, but look at the last game in closing seconds. Korver was pinned against the side lines by two guys, third approaching. Somehow, he passed the ball to Boozer who flipped it to Watson for the game tying 3. I believe Korver will be a huge asset to the Bulls in the playoffs.

I admit that these are short trends. A couple years with Tibbs and Bulls could certainly help a guy like Korvers game. Novak might have benefited also, if in Korvers situation. Both guys obviously like to shoot, but Korver looks like he's starting to enjoy playing Defense and fighting for rebounds.

Think of it this way. If you were coaching a team, heading into the playoffs, who would you want sitting on your bench? Korver or Novak?

Korver and it's not even close. Also watch how Korver moves without the ball and fights through screens. He has a lot more experience and understands the game better. At 6'10 Novak doesn't really have anyone he can defend. He can only play the 3 and he just can't match up in terms of quickness with most 3's. I like them both though. Guys who can consistently shoot that 42-45% without turning over a lot, that's like shooting 65-70% on 2's. Very efficient.

    Redick>Korver>Novak...

Thats what the white shooter rankings should be.

3 point shooting is a wash for all 3...however Novak is only a 70% free throw shooter

Redick pretty much runs the 2nd team offense for Orlando...very underrated pick and roll player

This thread is a joke right? Did you not watch the playoffs last year? Make shots when they count and get back to me.

Also steve Nash by the numbers is one of the three best all time. Easy.

    Korver shot 22/52 on 3's (42.3%) in the playoffs last year, pretty much his usual avg. Playoff 3pt% 2011 = 42.25%; 2010 = 47.8%; 2009 = 46.2%.
