I don't remember that dork bag selling anything marketable either in the late 80's, except making McDonalds commercials after well retiring. White's dude has not been marketable in the NBA for over 20 years already, and it will never happen, when players are aspiring to be the next MJ and Kobe Byrant. Yall need to quit hatin on Dirk cause real basketball fans know what the deal is. Dirk is the most underrated player every year. Don't forget the Mavs are doing this without 2 really good players (Caron and Roddy B) thats just how deep they are this year.
Another reason why the Mavs are so good this year is because they can make defensive plays in crunch time thanks to Chandler, Kidd and Marion just to name a few.

Dirk deserves way more credit than he gets. I don't get the hate. He's amazing and has been so for a long time.
i think the fact that he is 7 feet tall makes him less appealing to fans. How many people in this world will ever be 7 feet tall? I guess when you're that tall people just kind of write everything you do off like you're supposed to be able to do that because you're so damn tall. I have a ton of respect for dirk as a player, but I think his height kind of diminishes his public perception a little bit. I may be wrong though, in all honestly how many guys are 6'9 moving around as quickly as lebron? I guess lebron gets the pass because he's home grown. A lot of really good European players don't get the love I agree with that part. Dirk is a beast no matter how much love he gets or doesn't get from the media. He finally has some veterans to carry him over the hump. Kidd draining that 3 in OT stamped the mavs ticket to the finals, and they have a damn good shot once they get there too.

There will never be another Larry Bird. Dirk is a great scorer, but nothing more. Larry made everyone around him better. Dirk does not. Plus Dirk got trick rolled by an ugly stripper.

Bird has to be considered a better player but my God put Dirk in a time machine and he'd dominate like Bird did in that era.
He would have been more popular if he didn't start out with playing in the same conference as Duncan, Garnett and Webber in their primes.
