    Sprint Cup 2010 - Toyota/Save Mart 350 - Sonoma

Back at midweek and NASCAR hits its first road course of the season in Sonoma. I particularly don't like these courses but I do still bet on them. Nationwide is at Road America and that is the inaugural race there. Trucks are off until July 11th.

ok I found some. Don't like at all. Have the 4 I like at +500. Who's Mattias Elfstrom? Must be a road ringer I know nothing about.

2 x German DTM champion. Should be one of the best new ringers we have seen for a while.

In the Nationwide race there's an Aussie making his debut that will be worth watching out for too. Owen Kelly. Tasmanian like Ambrose and reputed to be one of the best around Bathurst, like Ambrose.

Does anyone know where to get the Thursday practice times from Road America?

    Some matchup prices on Bwin.

    David Reutimann -167
    David Ragan +120

Who will go worse... Ida thought Reuti, but not one for me anyway.

    Jamie McMurray -125
    J.P. Montoya -111

I like McMurray on a road course, but hard to take him as favorite against Montoya.

    Kasey Kahne -125
    Ryan Newman -111

I think Kahne looks like great value at those odds. Might take that one.

    Marcos Ambrose -154
    Tony Stewart +110

Stewart has to be the value play there!

    Robby Gordon -154
    Boris Said +110

I might take Robby there. Said is on an extra long shoestring this year, and is stuck with an old version Roush car, so can't use setup info from them as he has in the past. And Robby has 2 cars entered to work practice with.

    Carl Edwards -154
    Jeff Burton +110

Both under fair odds, imho. No thanks.

    Jimmie Johnson -139
    Kevin Harvick +100

Not sure about that one. I've got a pretty high opinion of Harvick on road courses.

Road course races usually put me to sleep. So I guess its a good thing I will be on the road and will miss this one. But if one of you recommend a couple of drivers I might put a little something on them before I head to the beach for a week of sun and oil!

Might want to wait tel after qualifying, but Ambroes, Montoya, and Stewart should run up front.

Got Ambroes at +700 at another site so added a little more on him. Montoya +700. Will add one more.

Thanks. Will road courses be what he does or is he taking over the 83 for the year?

Just for this one race. DTM clashes with the race at The Glen.

Reed Sorrenson takes over the #83 from next race.

    Here is the list of drivers who have better average qualifying AND race results on road courses than their overall averages;

    R Gordon 41.4% 32.2%
    Martin 14.5% 29.9%
    Papis 11.0% 26.0%
    Newman 4.6% 20.5%
    Said 24.0% 15.8%
    Ky Busch 8.8% 14.5%
    Waltrip 6.7% 11.4%
    PJ Jones 4.8% 8.4%
    Nemechek 4.3% 5.8%
    McMurray 15.5% 3.1%

Kahn's messing me up. Is he a road racer now? I know Stewart couldn't chase him down last year. Still think Ambroes is the pick.

messing me up too. Won last week, pole this week, they say momentum is huge in racing. still don't trust him on a road course though, but I'm usually wrong with those instincts

Won the race last year, pole the year before that. KK has the right turn skillz

I still think Ambrose is the benchmark though.

Right now I'm a disappointed boy though... really really wanted to watch the Road America quali and race today... but it appears they are not showing it on Speed. Wonder why?

Thanks, didn't realise. I'm in Australia and am stuck with web streams to see practice, or races live. Was hoping to catch Nationwide quali. Should be able to find one for the race.

I don't think the practices or qualifying for Nationwide was televised this week. http://www.motorracingnetwork.com/ar...x?artnum=56070

You can get a schedule of events at that site every week, and it usually tells what network is carrying the events.

I am so up in the air on this race. Ambrose looks like the winner on paper, but anything can happen in a road course. A side from Ambrose. Burton, Harvick and Jimmie all had great practices.

As of right now, I like Ambrose, Montoya, Newman, Burton, Harvick and Jimmie. 5dimes right now don't even have odds on Newman, or Burton for that matter. So I am still trying to decide on what to do here.

I wanted to take a couple of the head2head bets bwin had up, but they disappeared yesterday and only just re-appeared with a whole different set of matchups.

All I have so far is Ambrose +420 (should have taken the early +700 on that one)

I'm killing myself on this too. I'm staying pat. Ambroes or bust. If Jimmie wins I quit.

This is the first time I am so undecided. Ambrose looks to good to be true. Hard for me to ride one driver.
