F1 is going broke. It's the global elite and Uberwealthy playground. Just up their tickets to 25K each

I can't imagine Vegas taking much of a handle on F1. No loss to the books one way or another.

I don’t blame F1 here because the Vegas venues have already started their viewing/cash grab emails. It’s all super expensive. I guess you could argue that F1 should know it was part of the deal but venues like Drais and Omnia sent me a package for $25k starting at just to have a table/food/booze on the rooftop. Please.

Americans bought F1 a few years ago. Liberty Media and Atlanta Braves run it.

Vegas city should have gotten someone with a clue to negotiate the deal so this never could have happened. Or at least was known and understood well in advance.

F1 wanted Vegas more than Vegas needed or wanted F1.

But agree this is normal stuff for street races worldwide.

Agreed. I don’t know much about F1 but know it’s quite expensive to attend. F1 bought a huge plot of land on Koval/Harmon at a sweetheart deal and are building out stands, pits, their own suites, etc… it looks pretty cool. The clubs/casinos all want a piece of the action but yes- someone with a clue should have been involved. I wonder how this ends.

If these hotels are profiting quite a bit of money off the F1 race than yes its not unreasonable to expect something back in return.

I got sent a few offers at well starting at around 10-15k....laughable

I hope a lot of people are able to watch for free on the rooftops around the track and give F1 the middle finger...

If you don't know that F1 cars make right turns too, then you have obviously never even given it a shot to be commenting.

These hotels will make a killing for sure. The outrageous packages they are sending out are numbers that make zero sense but someone will fork over the cash. F1 should ask for something. Even if they ask for $2.5 million each and land on $500k it’s pure profit. The hotels are setting up packages for every inch of Vegas BLVD viewing.

F1 to me is exciting because of the tracks they race on. NASCAR and circle track harder for me to get excited about. F1 has some really cool tracks/venues. Either way- I’m a very passive viewer who tunes in for certain races and doesn’t watch/follow overall. This should be a fun race at night.

Of course but you and I both know… two greedy entities at the table were focused on ONE THING and it wasn’t the details. I could argue both sides:

Casino Operators: it’s our strip you are clogging up

F1: people are coming for our event

Casino Operators: oh really, we are at record gaming

Las Vegas convention bureau: let’s make it a great event guys

    🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑

Both: Wait, what? How much do I get?

I'd tell F1 to kick rocks and perhaps negotiate that beforehand next time...if F1 wants to back out or not come back going forward, that would be pretty short sighted. I'd argue that having a yearly race in vegas would do a lot for them in terms of gaining new American fans.

Just curious. Who's paying for all the paving of the streets, machinery, manpower. If F1 is footing the bill to pave the streets, then they deserve something. If not, who is.?.

I think they both are fukked on this deal honestly. Lots of money being spent to pave roads, stands, F1 virtually handed casino property to develop for pit stops, etc… there’s most likely some back room deal here that a few parties are just getting wind of. Stay tuned.

Is this Vegas race a one off or are they planning on coming back?

It doesn't make much sense to do all the paving etc for a single race.

Yes, I lived there for 10-11 years and left at the end of 2016...feels like ages ago.
Seems like a complete waste unless there will be a yearly event.

F1 is footing the bill with approval from the county public works dept. But deals were made, not all of them really publicly known and I do know that it's an $80 million dollar project and there are some kind of, or rumored to be some kind of, negotiations whereby F1 was seeking $40 million from from Clark County.

F1 tryna get Clark County to foot half the bill.

These issues have not been settled, to my knowledge. Clark county doesn't have the money. But since they are permanent road upgrades and improvements, something will be paid.

It's crazy, I agree with mj about the casino cash grab, but charging licensing for an event going down the public roads is quite an unprecedented move, at least in Vegas.

Many are shocked and pissed at all this and there is legit concern that casinos will be passing any invoked costs on to the customer.

And yes, rooftops and balconies are free and will be packed...lol...the expect 300,000 in attendance, I believe.

    Fuk

Your right there are people that will pay no doubt, its the new shiney event coming to town. One hand washes the other. Pay or lose the event, its as simple as that.

Im thinking a lot of those hotels in Monaco must fork out when F1 visits. They've been running it there for a long time.

Agreed- has to be a precedent elsewhere that makes them believe they can do it. Someone will pay, they always find someone.
