F1 - Italy Grand Prix - Verstappen vs Hamilton

I bet on Versteppen in Versteppen vs Hamilton matchup. They crashed into each other on Lap25 with both crashing out of race at that time.

DSI graded it as a loss saying that because Verstappen did not beat Hamilton it is a loss.

Did anyone else make this bet at other sportsbooks? How was it graded at your book? I assumed it would be graded a PUSH.

betonline and bookmaker say that if someone crashes on the same lap of f1 it's a push

other books grade it based on finishing position... hamilton is shown ahead

    https://www.formula1.com/en/results....ce-result.html

dsi's rules are VERY CLEAR THAT HAMILTON WOULD BE THE WINNER OF THE MATCHUP

"In head to head betting if 2 drivers retire from the race on the first lap then all bets on those drivers will be graded as a push/cancel. Subsequent to the first lap, the final results posted on the official body’s website will be used for grading purposes."

Sorry bro, that sucks. I almost went all in on Max, but decided to pass, as crazy stuff like this has been happening all season.

This is 1 of those areas where there is no industry standard. Books have their own individual rules. All you can do is find out what the individual rule is and hope things turn out for the best. F1 officially go by leaderboard at the end of the previous sector, (in this case start/finish line), so they have Hamilton ahead. Some books say if they both go out on the same lap it's a Push. At least 1 major book says 1 car has to complete the race, (so a DNF on lap 1 vs DNF on lap 50 would be a push). As long as a book follows their own rule it's fair.

standard rule most bookies use for F1 matchups is to go by "most completed laps" in case of a double DNF, and void all bets if they retire on the same one, as Formula 1 (unlike Nascar, or Indycar) doesn't officially classify cars which complete less than 90% of race distance.

Therefor the official result (governing body is FIA) also doesn't rank Hamilton and Verstappen:

So personally I'd say, even going by Betdsi's "the final results posted on the official body’s website will be used for grading purposes" rule there's reason to argue that it should be a push, as both drivers aren't ranked.

Sure, Hamilton is listed above Verstappen, but with no ranking, it's borderline. They basically refer to a rule designed for Nascar, which makes no sense in F1.

I think it should be a push, by their own rules.

They probably relied on the leaderboard which showed Lewis ahead, but their rules say FINAL official results, and by that it was a draw.

Wasn't Hamilton not punished for a lot more agressive behaviour a couple of weeks ago, in Budapest I believe?

That's a very good point. I was forgetting about the 90% rule and focusing on the timing sections. However, if the 90% rule is going to be used you couldn't then argue the other side and say a car that got to lap 20 beat a car that went out on lap 1. It would help the bettor here but it could potentially hurt more people than it helped. That's for another day. The rule is the rule and the rule says they go by the official website. If the official website says no result because neither completed 90% then it should be a Push. I suspect this will end up with a similar result to the BOL Serie-A case where the book actually uses a different source material and won't budge.

I would have expected a Push to be the correct outcome at most books.

yeah, that's true, basically all matchbets including two cars DNF'ing the race would need to be a push then on BetDSI.

That's why Betonline (for example, same as Bookmaker or most European bookies) states "If two drivers abandon the race after completing the same number of laps, the respective head-to-head is deemed void; otherwise the driver who completes the most laps will be deemed the winner if both drivers fail to finish the race".
Best thing would of course be, if Betdsi added sth like that to their F1 rules as well, to make things clear.

But yeah, generally it's a bit of a pain in the ass with all the different rules. BOL has a particularly stupid one themself, for example, "Pole Position wagers are settled according to the driver who starts the race in pole position (First on the starting grid)." And instead of abolishing it, they just re-named the markets to "Qualification Winner" or sth like that.

Thanks very much for the offer Opti. It was only for $100 and DSI has been very profitable for me so not sure if I want to ruffle any more feathers with them than I already have.
