I don't usually bet Golf, but after looking at some lines today on 5Dimes I pulled the trigger on Matsuyama -.5 over Koepka @ -120 for Round 2. It forced me to make a play on it. Matsuyama is the defending champion in this tourney and a legit top golfer. How do you guys do at betting golf?
I lay a lot of players "to win the tournament" at exchanges 1 or 2 days into a tournament after checking form etc. Very low odds so win rate of 95%+, so small gains. A loss hurts but rarely happens (only once so far).
Back in the Tiger days betting full tournaments was straight money. There is no dominate golfer anymore that you could say has a way better chance to win on a given week so I would say the value is in straight matchups on a weekly basis. Picking a single golfer to win a tournament is like throwing a dart at a penny from 10 yards away imo. Although for the majors it is always fun to pick a heavy underdog that is playing well especially when it comes to the British Open.
