Horse Player World Series tourney at Orleans

    Feb 17th -19th
    designated tracks
Aqueduct, Gulfstream, Tampa Bay, Oaklawn, Fairgrounds, Hawthorne, Golden Gate, Santa Anita

Each contestant will make fifteen individual $20 WIN and
$20 PLACE wagers per day (mythical wagers) at selected race
tracks. Tracks will be designated. Contestants may play any
    races from the designated tracks.
    • More than one horse may be selected per race, but each wager must
be $20 to WIN and $20 to PLACE. Each $20 WIN / $20 PLACE
wager is a separate bet and will count as one of the fifteen wagers
for the day. A contestant wagering on more than one horse per
race must fill out separate bet slips for each horse.
    • Only WIN and PLACE bets will be accepted. There will be no
    SHOW wagering.
    • Full track odds will be paid on the first $2 for both WIN and PLACE.
All amounts over $2 for both WIN and PLACE bets will be graded
with a prize cap of 19-1 for WIN and 9-1 for PLACE (or $40 to win
    and $20 to place).
    • Scratches earn no points and must be re-bet. Any unused wagers
at the end of the day will be worth zero points and will not be
    credited, refunded or carried over.
    • In the event of a dead heat, the contestant will be awarded the
mutuel price that applies for that selection.
    • Wagers on quarter horse races will not be accepted as contest bets.
    • Entries and fields go as a single wagering interest.
    • No “must go” entry or “must go” turf wagers will be accepted.
    • Point totals accumulate for three days.

Would you guys be interested in playing a contest like this. We could have our own contest with those rules for the 3 days and see how we compare with the winners. Winners could be paid daily for our contest instead of the 3 day total. It would be fun. Let me know what you all think. All entries for contest would have to be posted before 1st post of 1st race of the designated tracks. We could make it a $2 w/p instead of $20 w/p

Fun, heck its a lot of work. 7 hours of capping in and I'm only done with 3 tracks. So far I have 14 possible plays. Contests like this are as much about decision making as it is about handicapping. It who you use and who you toss that is a big factor. In any event I'll have to do the remaining cards in Vegas. I need some sleep.

yeah it is a lot of work. You should only choose races that offer value for sure.

Won a free roll via a contest thru xpressbet. I also received 500 for travel and free rooms for four days. I've been to the world series once before{several years ago** finishing midpack. That freeroll was earned by a 44th placing in an Orleans tournament. Last year I played in the xpressbet contests the early part of the year and one at surfside at Del Mar which is an ntra qualifier. I have a goal of getting to the national finals at least once. Flores brought in a 70 dollar horse in the first contest place and I was basically done. I would have tried again but my work schedule made it impossible. Still many consider the world series a better contest.Contests are a way of hitting a big score. For me its like a pick 6 which I don't play that much. To do well you have to be good and lucky. I'm as prepared as I've ever been this time. My greatest fear it Tampa Bay. Some of those longshots are hard to find and if several of them hit I'll be up against it. Out the door/ next stop L.V.

A rainy drive but I'm here safe. I see how much better off shore is as far as getting bets down. Time to get some rest and go to battle tomorrow. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Two players have almost 2000 points. Very high scores historically for the first day. The key was using O. Bocachica who scored with two longshots. 950 scores is good for about 200th. I'm far back. Two longshot places is all I could mustard. There are some strong players here

As we enter the final day the leader is at 2600 points. Naturally no one put back to back killer days together. So it will be a battle to the end for the 300 K first place. As for me I'm not out of this buy I need some longshots early or I'm done. I've had an interesting time in Vegas and win or lose no regrets.

Why don't they hold a real contest. $50 go WPS. You get to bet your winnings. As many bets as you want.
That would show the real cappers. Not just the ones who get lucky betting bombers.

This contest is not a real capper contest.

It is a real contest. There are no mandatory races. You find the races you think you can win and make your picks.

The winner had 3400 points. Around 2100 got prize money. I finished off the board. They have a second chance contest for a hundred dollar buy in. I may or may not try. I did o.k. betting the horse but the prices didn't warrant contest plays. All in all its been an adventure.

If 2100 was in money I would have been in the money for sure. Had a good 1st day only hit 1 2nd day hit several 3rd day including 2 capped winners. Goint to try and play in some of these contest this year to see how I do. Who knows we might both be in it next year.

In the end it was Gulfstream ,Oaklawn, Fair Grounds and Hawthorn that decided the contest. The results from Aqueduct, Santa Anita and Golden Gate were of little consequence. The gentleman that won was a happy camper Sunday as he sat at his table with a big trophy. Of course $296,000 is a lot of reasons to be happy. I spoke briefly with the gentleman who finished second. He said his approach is that he handicaps races not horses. That method worked for 68 grand, not a bad weekend.
If I ever return I will try to do some things differently. At the moment I'm rather sick of horse racing. Four days of following eight tracks per day will do that to a person.

I wouldnt play the Scal tracks to small of fields to get any value. Same with Aqueduct would have focused on Tampa, Gulf, Oaklawn, looked at a few from FairGrounds

One thing they need to fix is the smoky hallway. You almost needed a mask to get into the tournament room
