i had contacted both of these books a little while back as to why they nhl division futures had not been paid out. They both said “waiting on official word from the league”. Which is alright. So yesterday there must have been some kind of official word because both books graded the wagers. Only one problem.


intertops refunded all my bets (wins & losses). And 5dimes graded my one division future (which was a loss) as a loss.


so after official word how is one book grading them and one book is refunding them?

Because 'official word' from the league doesn't mean 'the league decides how wagers will be graded'. Books will make decisions as to how to apply what has happened. This isn't the case of a league being the final word on a certain type or a win or a loss. Just on how structure will be. How that applies to the books rules or interpretation of what their rules should be, will result in how they grade the bets.

As to how these 2 books in particular are making a different calculation, it would be pure speculation for anyone trying to figure it out. Gotta ask them.

I'm in the same situation here. To me this happens to be a serious blow. I'm not sure what exactly drove Intertops sportsbook to "finally* make the decision of cancelling all divisions bets, but from what I see this is not congruent to their rules. I have read the entirety of their rules, and the only one that seems to apply for this kind of situation is this:

1.3.4 Ante Post / Futures and propositional bet offers:

ii. Ante Post/Futures bets will only be refunded if the entire game/tournament is cancelled.

.
.


I am not sure how to conclude that the "entire" event was cancelled, as well over 80% of all games were played, and the regular season standings are fully considered for playoffs seeding.

Whether you calculate in terms of points (regardless of the number of games played) or in terms of points %, all division leaders end up being the same when they officially announced that the regular season was over.

Now as far as the NHL made it official that regular season division champions will be crowned this year or not, I can't find anything on that, anywhere.

Clearly this is a very frustrating situation.

yes exactly and I spoke with 5dimes twice today and they are telling me that the division winners were announced and acknowledged by the NHL.

So how is one book telling me that the official word did not acknowledge the current division leaders as champions and the other is saying that they did acknowledge all current division leaders as division champions.

and ironically these wagers were graded the exact same day after a long wait compared to all the other books. Not sure if I can file a complaint with SBR or not?

Well I've been a regular visitor of SBR's content for many years but as you can see I just registered today after I saw your post and a couple of other ones... so as a new member I'm probably not in a very good position to file a complaint.

But please let me know if you do so and how it turns out. You can use my reply as a reference.

Also if you find any evidence that the person with whom you spoke with at 5dimes was telling the truth (NHL's division winners being announced and acknowledged by governing bodies) please post the url, and keep your intertops' email in which they said that they were waiting for "official word from the league".

I'll try to deal with Intertops directly regarding that matter but you probably know as well as I do that it might be very complicate to reverse their decision at this point.

I spoke with 5dimes again they are telling me that the division winners were announced. I have an email from them. And a live chat telling me that the Vegas golden knights did indeed win the division per nhls website. As for actual announced winners I cannot find anything

i can’t fathom any way intertops isn’t paying them out to begin with. Every other book paid them out and even refunded 2nd place out of generosity. Bovada, many other offshores and every Vegas casino along with fanduel/DraftKings.

With such a competitive industry and the states legalizing at a rapid rate people are going to naturally going to go away from books like that when they see these types of things. It’s a reason to not wager

Update regarding Intertops' stance on this: Intertops stands by the original settlement decision, but in good faith though no winners have been confirmed officially, they will pay out on the team's leading their division at the time of suspension. All accounts will be credited within 48 hours.

Every other book paid them out and even refunded 2nd place out of generosity. Bovada, many other offshores and every Vegas casino along with fanduel/DraftKings.

Has draftkings graded these for you? Mine are still pending

Well my account just got credited. This is quite a relief. They even went as far as keep cancelling all other bets on other (non-leading) teams, including those not even in the race anymore when the season got interrupted. If this stays this way clearly this is an extremely generous outcome. Thanks to Intertops and SBR for this.

That's awesome, hope Intertops follows suit with NBA futures as well. Will definitely be keeping score of how books are handling this because it makes a huge difference.

Wagers have been regraded to wins!!!! Thanks to everyone here at SBR and thanks to Intertops to stepping up to the plate! Awesome job I will be sure to send players there way in the future. Have been with them a long time and honestly have never had an issue until this pandemic and they stepped up fast and did the right thing. Shoutout to intertops and good people here at SBR!
