Serious Question- How are Blackhawks "Undefeated"? They've Lost 3 Games.....

I'm not a hockey fan in the least so I may be ignorant here, but what is all this talk about Chicago being undefeated? they've lost 3 games (Wild- 1/30, Canucks-2/1, Ducks- 2/12). What is this undefeated talk? I'm not comprehending...

Somebody please answer me because I will not be able to function today unless I know the answer to this question. I literally am dumbfounded by this....I keep hearing "20-0-3" but they are 20-3-3.

20 wins 0 reg losses 3 OT/SO Losses. Aka 20-0-3 they've lost games (the ones u have already stated) but those were in ot/so.

Are you serious? They've lost 3 games but since they were in overtime they don't count for some reason? Hockey and soccer are literally jokes. We should do that for every sport then, right? Every overtime loss doesn't count, it's just a do-over. The overtime is just for funsies. Orange slices for everyone after the game. Seriously, what a joke.

Its because they still get a point, so its not really that much of a loss because they still got something out of it! In soccer AKA Football for me, if you lose in overtime (extra time) it means you are out of a competition and hence have lost. If a team wins 20 games and say draws 3 you still say there undefeated because they are. Hockey OT loss are essentially counted as draws, overtime is just for a bonus point!

The tie no longer exists in NHL, but the OTL is pretty much the same thing. Regulation L are the real losses.

A loss is a loss is a loss is a loss is a loss is a loss is a loss.......I am truly appalled with the media that them losing 3 games is not more publicized.

20-0-3 is huge. That's why the medias all over it overtime losses = 1 pt so basically it's not a loss .. U got 50% of the reward for a win .

I'm a huge supporter of the belief that the Blackhawks aren't anywhere near as good as people think they are, but this chargers guy is an absolute idiot.

If you don't understand why getting to OT in hockey is worthy of a point than you don't understand the sport. There's a reason they play 20m sudden death OT periods in the playoffs and not the regular season. Think about it, idiot.

And how are you comparing this to football at all? Football has injury time, that's not OT. If a 2nd leg of a playoff round goes to extra time and a team loses, they don't advance. That's more similar to basketball or American football where the team gets nothing for an OT loss. Not to hockey where they get a point.

You have no clue what you are talking about.

To be "defeated" in hockey is to play 60 mins and be outscored. For that reason Chicago is undefeated. They've been beat, but not defeated. Some ppl dont know how to score tennis , understand cricket, or in this case, hockeys definition of Defeated...we tend to call those ppl.....woman.

i love tennis. it is a real sport. hockey takes place on ice. it is not a real sport and the blackhawks are not undefeated. in that case, why don't teams just put all 5 guys and the goalie packed in front of the net the entire game? they'll always at least tie and get a point right? UNDEFEATED HELL YEAH. seriously, what a joke sport...

If you don't understand how hockey standing are then how can you be so upset. Learn how the points system works then make a judgement.

Just like BCS ...does it makes sense a team who is defeated not play for national title....because they didn't play tough teams...come on.

    No reason.

noone seems to have answered my question. why don't teams just put all 5 guys and a goalie in the next for the entire game? they're guaranteed that precious point they receive for TYING. for TYING THEIR OPPONENT. not WINNING, but TYING.

Reading comprehension. Look it up. Chicago is undefeated in REGULATION. The fact you don't understand the difference doesn't make it a joke sport, just makes you a dumb ass for whining about it. All the attention is due to the fact they're the only team to ever start a season getting at least a point in 24 consecutive games (and counting). It's kind of a big deal. But then again you're seriously using tennis to discredit hockey as a "real sport".

all three losses were shootouts. shootouts are lame anyway, it's not like the other team ever scored more goals then blackhawks

Blackhawks have yet to even lose in OT - all are in S/O

So lets put it this way - what if after a whole period of OT in football - the kickers started to battle and first to miss lost. Would you count that as a complete loss? hockey is the most nonstop sport and is very injury prone when you have guys out there skating past 65 min so in the regular season they choose to end the game through S/O and not keep playing. Playoffs are different since the Cup is on the line.

if a football team went 15-0-1 would they be undefeated? technically, yes bc its not a loss. instead of tieing like soccer, hockey allows for one team to at least come out on top through the S/Os

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you're trolling.

The part about you not getting the scoring I understand because maybe you're just slow. But the fact that you think hockey isn't a real sport (which is the only reason I commented) makes you absolute moron and lose all credibility. GTFO pal

great, noone has a legitimate answer to why they don't just put everyone in the goal to get that precious tie. oh, that's right, because there is no answer. because losing after you tie in regulation counts as a positive in hockey. gotcha.

I don't know where your hearing that their undefeated. They have lost and everyone acknowledges that, but they are on a 23 game point streak. Win = 2 points, OT/SO Loss = 1 Point, Regulation Loss = 0 points.

There is no tie, numbnuts, all games are decided with a win or loss. Each team is guaranteed a point if the game is tied at the end of regulation. The NHL deems an overtime/shootout loss worth more than a regulation loss, nothing wrong with that. To answer your stupid f*king question, teams don't sit back and try not to score because, to quote Herman Edwards "they play to win the game". What professional athlete doesn't want to win? And you realize by your way of thinking the NFL isn't a real sport (opposed to tennis) because regular season games CAN end in a tie. Love to hear you say that to a professional linebacker. A mod needs to sh*tcan this thread.

Chargers you don't understand the sport if you think putting a morbidly obbese goalie in net, or a goalie and 5 other players right in front of the net....is going to stop a team from scoring. They would lose every game 25-0 with that strategy.
