Luongo says he would waive No Trade Clause!

I have long dreamed of this moment! Feel bad Lou is being run outta town somewhat but this is what has to be done.

And let the trade rumors begin!

@VanCanucks: "We have a young goaltender in Schneider who could dominate the league." - Luongo

@sportsnetmurph: #canucks Luongo says he'll waive his no trade clause if Gillis asks him to.

If Brzygalov can't handle it, Lou would have a nervous breakdown there.

He's American. They don't crack, only French-Canadians. Tim Thomas, Ryan Miller, John Quick, Cory Schneider

Feel bad for Luongo too, but that doesn't mean I want him on the Leafs. That contract is awful.

Fans and media have treated him unfairly in Vancouver. Before Luongo they had Dan Cloutier as their #1 for fukks sake.

Yup it's not his fault the Nucks signed him to a stupid contract. He's still an above average goalie he just needs a fresh start I think.

Luongo brought a lot of the "unfair" treatment on himself Spooner. Making comments like expecting Thomas to "pump his tires" in last years playoffs was just dumb. Luongo could end up in Trawna, but I hope this doesn't happen. The media in Leaf land will eat him alive.

I was a Canuck season ticket hold for more 12 years and while we had a our Richard Brodeur's and Kirk McLean's, the goal tending position was always something that the Canucks weren't ever known for. Now as luck would have it, we have 2 outstanding goalies. Probably the best 2 in over 40 years. No question the best 2 on any NHL team. Luongo could be the #1 goalie on more than half the NHL teams today.

Wow that goalie list is bringing back BAD memories. Everyone remembers Cloutier but Potvin was brutal too, as was Weekes, and on it goes.

He's got a 5.333 million dollar cap hit.

Team that trades for him is taking a pretty big risk for someone who's been inconsistent throughout his career.

Fukkin dumb homer, the St Louis Blues have the best two goalies in the league.

10 years left on his contract means the Leafs will not be interested.

    Sounds alot like Bryzgalov's contract.

DiPietro is still hands down the worst long term goalie contract ever.

PHT List: 10 reasons Luongo could end up in Tampa Bay

    Jason Brough
    Apr 25, 2012, 5:36 PM EDT

There’s no guarantee the Vancouver Canucks will trade, or be able to trade, Roberto Luongo this summer. However, if it happens, here are 10 reasons why Tampa Bay makes sense as a destination.

    1. The Lightning are desperate for a goalie. We saw in the Jeff Carter trade to Los Angeles that desperation (the Kings badly needed scoring) can persuade teams to take risks they normally wouldn’t.
    2. Tampa Bay isn’t exactly in “Stanley Cup or bust” territory, but the window on Martin St. Louis’ career is closing. He’ll turn 37 in June.
    3. As Elliotte Friedman points out, management will often take on salary if it feels the player can deliver additional playoff revenue. And if the Lightning had had better goaltending this season, it might not have missed the playoffs. The capacity of the Tampa Bay Times Forum is around 19,000. Supposing the average ticket price for a postseason game is $50, that’s around a million bucks in ticket revenue per game.
    4. The Lightning have the cap space to absorb Luongo’s $5.3 million hit. Dwayne Roloson ($3.5 million) will be off the books next season, and the Canucks could take back salary in return.
    5. Vancouver GM Mike Gillis said Tuesday he wants to make his team “bigger and stronger.” Rumors of the Canucks pursuing Lightning forward Ryan Malone have popped up before.
    6. In 2010, Luongo won a gold medal for Team Canada – a team that was put together by current Lightning GM Steve Yzerman.
    7. Luongo’s wife, Gina, is from Florida and they have two young children together. Remember, the Canucks can’t trade Luongo anywhere they want – he’s got a no-movement clause which he’ll have to waive first. The Panthers also make sense if family is a significant factor; however, they’ve got top prospect Jacob Markstrom waiting in the wings.
    8. Luongo would be the undisputed starter on the Lightning. There’s no blue-chipper like Cory Schneider in the system. (Which is another reason Yzerman might be interested.)
    9. If Luongo’s sick of the media and fan attention he gets in Vancouver, Tampa Bay would offer a welcome respite.
    10. Tampa Bay would provide Luongo a better chance to win than Columbus or Toronto, two other teams that need goaltending.

Yeah, remind me how well the Canucks have done in the playoffs. That'll teach me.

The last thing Canuck fans want to see is Luongo playing well for Toronto and having to see him every Saturday night on HNIC.

last year to game 7, Duh.

at least they make it and have a chance. There's a whole generation of Leaf fans who have never experienced playoff hockey

betplom, you are a crying dying breed of hater Leaf fans pretending they are still in a 6 team league. Thankfully there are less of you guys each year. It's funny in doses but get boring as there is nothing new you guys say each time. Yawn.
