    Odog's betting the B's 2011-2012 profits project

Did quite well last year betting on my home team and even better when I decided to bet against them during the regular season. I feel feel confident that if I can eliminate the homerism that caught me a few times last year my bets on or against the Bruins(or totals) will be even more profitable.

Let's get er' started with one that is kind of obvious, fade defending Stanley Cup champs on the road with most of their talent back at home.

    Ottawa -120 1.2 Units to win 1

Off to a good start with Ottawa outplaying the Bruins and Rask playing solid to keep it close and force it into overtime. Watched a little of the game on re-play and really liked how Rask looked, expecting big things from him this year.

    YTD 1-0
    +1 Unit.

Game 2 tonight and while they won't be raising the banner it is a Friday night and the place will be rocking for a pre-season game. Islanders conversly in their first game and have one tomorrow night at home against the Devils, making this sort of a split squad affair for them and not likely to field a great lineup. ML is quite high and so I am going to go with the Bruins to win this one in regulation. I think once the lineups are official this will move a little in the wrong direction, so putting it in now.

    Boston -.5 -125 2.5 units to win 2.

That was an easy one, I know hindsight is 20/20, but I felt very confident going into it and should have put a few more units down on it. Tomrrow night B's in Montreal, won't be as warm a welcome and my thinking now is it will be Les Habs or no play, unless the odds are very different from what I expect.

    YTD 2-0 +3 Units.

Bruins play in Halifax tonight at 6:00 pm in Halifax today and not in Montreal. Lots of rookies for Montreal and not too much fire power for the Bruins either, rask in net and I expect him to be solid and for this to be a low scoring affair.

Parlay Bruins -125 and under -130 1 unit to win 2.18 units.

Well, lucky you, turns out it was a horrible pick and the easy ones Bruins ML and Bruins PL which was +210 were sitting there right in my face.

Tonight I can't get any lines on my books for the game, but SBR is showing Bruins -150, seems pretty steep considering Price is in net for the Habs, but then again their lineup not looking overly impressive and he has not been great. Will check back in a bit and make a small play if I can get it in.

    YTD 2-1 +2 Units.

Well, was never able to get a line on the game last night to get a small play on the Bruins in. They won 2-1 and from what I hear Rask looking very solid again. Beginning of lat year he was total fade material and I think it will be just the opposite this year. Just two more pre-season games until the regular season starts, next up is Ottawa Thursday night.

Not a huge fan of futures this early, but I do like what I see out of the Bruins. They have depth at all positions, youth, experience and if Thomas holds up and Rask has the type of year I think he will, easily the best goaltending duo in the league. They are also in very good salary cape shape which will help if they need to make any deadline trades.

I really don't want to tie up a lot of money, so going to make a very small play on the Bruins to repeat at +1050.

Bruins to win the cup +1050 $22 to win $231.

GL on your picks this year Odog....Even though you are a Bruins fan and I am a Sabres fan....

I know we agreed on a few picks last year....Seemed like we were on the same page more than once....

I think you guys got a great goalie in Rask....Definitely one of the best back-ups if not the best back up in the league....

Hope you do well, will be keeping an eye on your thread.....

Yep, that's why just $22 on the Bruins to repeat, also one my my "lucky" numbers. I use Betus, Bodog and 5Dimes. Any others you recommend highly for hockey?

Thanks man, I am looking to be a lot more selective this year and lay off when I hit a cold streak like I did at the end of the regular season last year. Luckily the Bruins made up for it for me in the Playoffs, game 7 in the finals at plus money was like, well, money.

Tonight I like the Bruins, lots of juice but not too bad -.5 at 5Dimes -120. Bruins have a nice lineup, though Seguin and Seidenberg are healthy scratches, Thomas in net to start. Bruins did lose to Ottowa in the pre-season opener and I don't fear the Senators, but they do have Anderson in net and he is expected to play the whole game. This is also the Senators last pre-season game so they should be playing hard throughout. All that said leads me to a small play on the Bruins in regulation.

    Bruins -.5(Reg) -120. 1.2 units to win 1.

I know, the difference does seem extreme, some places have Ottawa +190, almost tempting to put something small down on that and just hope Bruins don't win in OT or a shootout, they were poor in shootouts last year, especially Thomas.

Reg bets are tempting, but remember, the one thime that your team does win the game in OT. You are pretty much losing out on 2 units that you would have had otherwise. A lot of times those 2 units are more than the juice you will save from playing several MLs instead of reg bets...

I hear you, but the spread is really big on this one -120 to -240, much bigger spread than usual, which is partly due to a low scoring game being expected, but I think in this case the regulation play is the one to make. Just not that great a chance that if the Bruins win it will be in OT or shootout.

Well, my wort fears came true in this one. Anderson stands on his head, Bruins out shot the Sens 40-20 and lose. Watch out for Anderson this year, end of last year Sens and the under parlay hit a lot and I was on it a number of times. This team is not that good, but he is capable of stealing some low scoring games.

    YTD 2-2 + .8 units.

Bruins will be resting some starters game in Bridgeport home of Islanders minor league club. Also, Bruins one 1st meeting in the pre-season 6-3, look for the Ilsanders to have a bit more erency in this one and lots of juice for the Bruins so.....

    NYI -.5 +230 1 unit to win 2.3 units.

Loss on the last pre-season to put the record at:

    2-3 -.2 units.

Like the Bruins tonight by a bit, but too much juice for it to be a play, so no play for the opener.

Ok, finally a play I really like. Don't ask me why, but something about Tampa had me worried and the bounce back after the 1st game I had been expecting happened and I failed to profit from it.

Today there is a play I really like, lots of people seem to be on the Bruins for the PL, but I really like them in regulation today, so the play is.

    Boston -.5 at -130 3.9 units to win 3.
