NFL Player News - Week 17

SEA - RB Marshawn Lynch meeting with SEA

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero

Free-agent RB Marshawn Lynch (Raiders) is meeting with the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Dec. 23.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'd love to see Beast Mode back in Seattle. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, "both sides are optimistic" Lynch will join the Seahawks for Week 17.

PIT - PIT optimistic about QB Ben Roethlisberger

    Source: ESPN - Chris Mortensen

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) is recovering from surgery to reattach three tendons in his elbow, and the team is optimistic about his availability for 2020, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Roethlisberger was missed most of this season and the Steelers offense did not look the same. He is not been cleared to throw at this point, but he expects to play next season and beyond.

LAR - RB Darrell Henderson likely to go on IR

    Source: TheRams.com - Stu Jackson

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (ankle) likely will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list because of the high ankle sprain he suffered in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henderson, a third-round pick out of Memphis in the 2019 NFL draft, has appeared in seven games and has rushed for 147 yards and a meager 3.8 yards per carry. Henderson will need to undergo surgery to repair the injury.

PHI - RB Jordan Howard expected to return

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) is expected to be available for the Week 17 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard hasn't played since Week 9, and he brings the power to the Eagles backfield to go along with the electricity of Miles Sanders. We should still see Sanders as the lead back for the Eagles.

CAR - QB Will Grier to start again

Source: The Athletic - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers QB Will Grier will be the starting quarterback for the team's Week 17 game, according to interim head coach Perry Fewell.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Panthers new ownership wants to take a look at Grier again so they can make a determination on him for 2020. Grier struggled in his debut but should still continue peppering passes to RB Christian McCaffrey.

OAK - RB Josh Jacobs may play in Week 17

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Scott Bair

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder) has a chance to play in the Week 17 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

See what Jacobs can do in practice this week. DeAndre Washington will be the lead back if Jacobs is down again. The Raiders playoff hopes are still alive but they have to beat the Broncos on Sunday (and about four other things need to happen) if they want to get in.

ARI - QB Kyler Murray undergoes MRI

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray's (hamstring) MRI did not show any significant problems to his hamstring, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We should see Murray suit up in Week 17. He's been building on his skill set all this rookie season and wants to build more momentum to carry over for the 2020 season.

WAS - QB Dwayne Haskins to miss Week 17

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins (ankle) will not be able to play in the Week 17 game, according to interim head coach Bill Callahan.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Case Keenum will get the start for Washington in the season finale. Haskins was flashing here and there as the rookie seemed to get better with more starts. We'll see him get ready in the offseason to be the starting quarterback for whatever coaching staff takes over.

BAL - RB Mark Ingram ruled out for Week 17

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens RB Mark Ingram (calf) will not play in the team's Week 17 game, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Justice Hill should get more work in the backfield for the Ravens. He'll be splitting time with Gus Edwards now that Ingram is out.

BAL - QB Lamar Jackson to sit out Week 17

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson will not play in the team's Week 17 game, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Robert Griffin III will get the start for the Ravens. It will be fun to see him out there starting again. The Ravens take on the Steelers in Week 17 with the No.1 seed in the playoffs already wrapped up.

PIT - RB James Conner getting checked out

    Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (quad) is awaiting the results of an MRI on the quad injury he suffered on his final carry of Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Conner gets banged up quite a bit, so the Steelers are used to playing without him. We'll see if he can be available for the Week 17 season finale against the Ravens. If not, the Steelers will turn to Benny Snell, Kerrith Whyte and Jaylen Samuels.

CIN - WR A.J. Green finally lands on IR

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 23.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With one week remaining in the regular season, the Bengals decide to shut down Green. He didn't play a single game this year as he dealt with this ankle injury and it will be interesting to see how that impacts his market in 2020. Green is set to be an unrestricted free agent in the spring and he could command more money than the Bengals are willing to pay him. He did say earlier this month that he would be willing to play on the Franchise Tag next year but he wants a longer commitment.

PHI - TE Zach Ertz undergoing tests on rib injury

    Source: NJ.com - Mike Kaye

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) is scheduled to undergo multiple tests in order to determine the extent of the rib injury he suffered in Week 16, according to Mike Kaye of NJ.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a huge game for the Eagles in Week 17 as they can clinch the NFC East title with a win over the Giants. Rib injuries usually come down to a pain tolerance issue, so we'll see if Ertz will gut it out with so much on the line.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson eyeing return during playoffs

    Source: ESPN.com - Tim McManus

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (core) is reportedly 'feeling good' and 'clocking 19 miles per hour' in his rehab from the core muscle injury that landed him on the Reserve/Injured list.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Getting Jackson back would be a huge boost for the Eagles offense. However, while he is expecting to rejoin the team on the field if they make the playoffs, he is not eligible to return until the divisional round.

    Wednesday Update

PIT - RB James Conner very iffy for Week 17

    Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner's (thigh) availability is very much in question for Week 17, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tomlin said Conner's Week 17 availability is "very much in question." They'll monitor him during the week of practice and turn to Benny Snell, Kerrith Whyte and Jaylen Samuels if need be. The Steelers have a must-win against the Ravens if they want to go to the postseason (they also need the Titans to lose).

PIT - QB Mason Rudolph to IR

    Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mason Rudolph (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rudolph was supposed to be the heir apparent to Ben Roethlisberger but this year he showed that he was not a starting-caliber quarterback in the NFL. He finishes his season having played in 10 games, throwing for 1,765 yards (62.2 percent completion rate) with 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The Steelers have a must-win game against the Ravens in Week 17. Devlin Hodges and Paxton Lynch are their two quarterbacks now. A win over the Ravens and a Titans loss means the Steelers are headed to the playoffs.

SEA - RB Travis Homer to get heavy workload in Week 17

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Seattle Seahawks RB Travis Homer is 'ready to go' for Week 17, as head coach Pete Carroll said the team will 'lean on him because of his background with us and his toughness and his speed.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team signed Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin earlier in the week but Homer should get more of the work in the season finale. A 2019 sixth-round pick out of the University of Miami, Homer reminds some in the scouting community of Austin Ekeler (Chargers). At 201 pounds, Homer has plenty of quickness with the ball in his hands as a runner or receiver out of the backfield.

OAK - RB Josh Jacobs gets some work in Tuesday

Source: The Athletic - Vic Tafur

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder) participated in the team's walk-through Tuesday, Dec. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's just a walk-through, but it's a good sign for Jacobs in Week 17 as the team tries to make it to the postseason. They must beat the Broncos and then get wins by the Ravens, Texans and Colts. Then, the Raiders also need a victory by one of the following teams: Bears, Lions, Chiefs or Patriots. FPI gives it all a 13.2% chance of happening.

MIA - RB Myles Gaskin lands on IR

    Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe

Miami Dolphins RB Myles Gaskin (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A 2019 seventh-round pick out of Washington, Gaskin appeared in seven games for the Dolphins as a rookie. He finishes his first pro season with 36 carries for 133 yards with one touchdown on the ground plus seven catches for 51 yards. The Dolphins turn back to Patrick Laird as their lead back in the season finale against the Patriots.

WAS - WR Terry McLaurin in concussion protocol

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins WR Terry McLaurin (concussion) was placed in the league's concussion protocol Tuesday, Dec. 24, after suffering a head injury
late in the game in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy GMs who are playing in Week 17 will need to monitor McLaurin's status later in the week. He will be re-evaluated Thursday, Dec. 26.

PHI - TE Zach Ertz a question mark for Week 17

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) is reportedly lobbying to play in Week 17 against the New York Giants, but NFL Network's Mike Garofolo has more people than not telling him 'don't bank on Ertz being out there' in the regular-season finale.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles are in the driver's seat for the NFC East title and a win on Sunday against the Giants would seal the deal. If Ertz doesn't play, the Eagles would turn to talented second-year tight end Dallas Goedert.

CLE - Dontrell Hilliard to IR

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns RB Dontrell Hilliard (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 24. OG Colby Gossett was elevated from the practice squad.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilliard worked as the third-down back for the Browns while Kareem Hunt was suspended. He finishes his second pro season having appeared in six games, rushing for 49 yards (with two rushing touchdowns) and catching 12 passes for 92 yards.

ARI - QB Kyler Murray will practice Tuesday

    Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) will practice Tuesday, Dec. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Cardinals here. His MRI showed that he tweaked his hamstring in Week 16. We're expecting Murray to play in the season finale against the Rams. If he is not going to play, the Cardinals turn to Brett Hundley as their starter.

    Thursday Update

TEN - RB Derrick Henry returns to full practice

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry (hamstring) practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry has now practiced fully two days in a row. That's a good sign for his availability in this must-win game for the Titans in Week 17. We're expecting him to get a healthy workload if he plays against the Texans on Sunday.

PIT - RB James Conner does not practice

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (quadriceps) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't think Conner plays in Week 17 against the Ravens. Benny Snell, Kerrith Whyte and Jaylen Samuels will get the work from the backfield for the Steelers on Sunday if Conner is out.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger determined

    Source: Twitter

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger took to Twitter to announce that he has been working hard and is more determined than ever to come
    back stronger next year.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Retirement is always going to be swirling around Roethlisberger at this point in his career, but he seems bound and determined after missing most of the 2019 season. The other top QBs in his draft class, Philip Rivers and Eli Manning, seem to be near the end of their playing days. Perhaps Roethlisberger can find more success than those two in 2020. Either way, the Steelers need to be thinking about the future at the position as Mason Rudolph (or anyone else currently on the roster) is a long-term answer.

GB - RB Jamaal Williams sits out Wednesday

    Source: NFL

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams only touched the ball a few times in Week 16 before exiting with this injury. We'll see if he can get back out there by Friday for a full practice. Williams would serve as a backup to Aaron Jones if healthy.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen limited

    Source: NewOrleansSaints.com

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Olsen only caught a couple of passes from rookie QB Will Grier last week. We can't project him for much more production in Week 17, especially with the Panthers trying to get RB Christian McCaffrey the 67 receiving yards he needs to be only the third player in NFL history with a 1,000/1,000 season.

CAR - WR D.J. Moore does not practice

    Source: NewOrleansSaints.com

Carolina Panthers WR D.J. Moore (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't think Moore plays in Week 17. The Panthers should have Curtis Samuel and Jarius Wright as their top receivers for the season finale.

KC - RB Spencer Ware to IR

    Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 25. DT Xavier Williams (ankle) was activated from the IR in a corresponding move, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ware only got a couple of games with the Chiefs and didn't do much as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. The team now turns to LeSean McCoy, Damien Williams and Darwin Thompson in their backfield rotation. The Chiefs can lock up a first-round bye with a win and Patriots loss in Week 17.

TEN - WR Corey Davis limited Wednesday

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis (concussion) was limited at practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis is in the league's concussion protocol and may not be ready in time to play in the season finale against the Texans. That means the Titans would keep rolling with A.J. Brown and Tajae Sharpe as their top two receivers.

HOU - WR DeAndre Hopkins sits out practice

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (illness) didn't practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans are going to the playoffs as AFC South champs and head coach Bill O'Brien says there are no plans to rest starters. Hopkins should be able to get over this illness in time. Houston can improve their seeding with a win and Chiefs loss on Sunday.

HOU - WR Will Fuller doesn't practice Wednesday

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR Will Fuller (groin) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Fuller can't play in the season finale, then we'll see Kenny Stills do more. Keep on the injury report and stay up to date with Fuller's status on Friday to determine whether or not he'll play.

DAL - QB Dak Prescott doesn't practice Wednesday

Source: Dallas Morning News - Michael Gehlken

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (shoulder) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Prescott didn't throw a pass in practice before Week 16, so expect him to have the same plan this week. He'll be out there in a must-win game for the Cowboys on Sunday.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry limited Wednesday

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (hip) was limited at practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Expect Landry to have a big week against the Bengals on Sunday. He should be able to work as the top target for Baker Mayfield against a bad secondary.

TB - Limited practice for QB Jameis Winston

    Source: Buccaneers.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston (knee, thumb) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Winston is a little banged up here at the end of the season, but he'll be out there slinging it on Sunday. He should throw some touchdowns..and of course some picks against the Falcons in Week 17.

OAK - RB Josh Jacobs listed as DNP

Source: The Athletic - Vic Tafur

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder/illness) was listed as a non-participant on the team's estimated injury report for Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jacobs needs to practice fully on Friday so he can play against the Broncos on Sunday. There is a small chance the Raiders can make it into the postseason, but they still need to win.

ARI - QB Kyler Murray listed as limited

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant at practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An MRI earlier in the week indicated that Murray had a tweaked hamstring and nothing more severe. He should be able to play in the season finale against the Rams.

    Friday Update

PHI - TE Zach Ertz misses another practice

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (ribs, back) remained a non-participant at practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ertz is looking like he'll be on the doubtful side of questionable. Dallas Goedert is a top four tight end play this week if Ertz is out.

MIN - QB Kirk Cousins in limbo for finale

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins told reporters Thursday, Dec. 26, that he doesn't know how much or if he will play in Week 17 versus the Chicago Bears until closer to kickoff.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This likely goes for any key Minnesota starter such as Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, Kyle Rudolph and any number of players on defense. The Bears will be playing a team that looking ahead to the wild card round. Sean Mannion should get the majority of snaps for the Vikings at quarterback.

CAR - Christian McCaffrey to keep getting fed

    Source: ESPN.com - David Newton

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is expected to see plenty of touches in Week 17 as Panthers offensive coordinator Scott Turner said Thursday, Dec. 26, that the team wants to help McCaffrey become the third player in league history with 1,000 rushing and receiving yards in the same season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Next year, McCaffrey will be the most unanimous #1 fantasy pick in over a decade.

OAK - RB Josh Jacobs' surgery for infection

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder, infection) clarified Thursday, Dec. 26, that he had surgery on Christmas to deal with a leg infection.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Raiders have a must-win game against the Broncos on Sunday. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the surgery should not in itself prevent Jacobs from possibly playing in Week 17, but the running back still remains a question mark due to his lingering shoulder injury.

ATL - WR Julio Jones likely to be limited

Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - D. Orlando Ledbetter

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) is expected to be limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 26, head coach Dan Quinn said.

Jones is limited quite often during the week but then he goes out and performs at a high level on Sunday. If you're still playing fantasy football in Week 17, Jones has a great matchup against a weak Buccaneers secondary in the season finale.

ARI - QB Kyler Murray remains limited

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) remained limited at practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray's hamstring isn't 100% so it will be up to the team whether to allow him to play in Week 17. Brett Hundley will get the start if Murray can't go.

GB - RB Jamaal Williams misses practice

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams might be out for Week 17 even though the Packers can secure the #1 seed with a win. Rookie Dexter Williams will be the backup if Jamaal Williams is out.

OAK - WR Tyrell Williams misses practice Thursday

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Tyrell Williams (foot) didn't participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 26. He wasn't on the injury report for Wednesday, Dec. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams had a plantar fasciitis problem earlier this year and it's possible that it popped up again. Check the practice reports tomorrow before playing him in Week 17. Hunter Renfrow is the best Raiders wide receiver play this week even if Williams foot is fine for Sunday.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor (knee) didn't practice once again Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Greg Ward should be the Eagles #1 wide receiver again this week, in another instance of just how much things can change from Week 1 to Week 17.

PHI - RB Jordan Howard stays limited Thursday

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) remained a limited participant at practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard will be eased back so that the team can have him at the highest possible playing level for the wild card round, assuming they can beat the Giants and win the division.

TEN - WR Corey Davis back to full practice

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis (concussion) was upgraded to a full participant at practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis should be back for the win and you're in game at Houston. The Texans secondary will have a tall order slowing down the Titans offense with Derrick Henry and both starting receivers back this week.

DAL - QB Dak Prescott misses another practice

    Source: DallasCowboys.com

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (shoulder) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Prescott's arm strength was fine last week, but his accuracy was off. The Cowboys need to win have a chance to go to the playoffs, so he'll certainly start this week, but results could be disappointing again for fantasy.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (thumb) was upgraded to a full participant at practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Will Week 17 be Rivers last game? or only last game as a Charger? Tyrod Taylor is under contract next year and the team could also take a quarterback in the draft.

WAS - RB Adrian Peterson misses practice

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson has been missing practices and playing well on Sundays with regularity this year. He has been surprisingly effective this year after starting the season in a timeshare with Derrius Guice.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings RB Alexander Mattison (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings should rest Mattison this week to have him as strong as possible for the wild card round with Dalvin Cook suffering multiple shoulder injuries late in the season.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

.CLE - Limited practice for WR Jarvis Landry

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (hip) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Landry has said he might need surgery on his injured hip this offseason. He and the Browns offense can only get better next year. We'll be waiting to see if Freddie Kitchens is fired or the team otherwise makes changes in the offensive coaching staff.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette misses practice

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (neck) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fournette has been playing well this year and he's not the reason the Jaguars have been a disaster. If he can't go in Week 17, Ryquell Armstead will get the start.

NYG - WR Darius Slayton limited again

    Source: Giants.com

New York Giants WR Darius Slayton (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Slayton could return this week after missing time with a knee injury during his Week 16 dud. He has had a revelation of a rookie year and should be entrenched as the long term deep threat to grow with Daniel Jones.

HOU - WR Will Fuller remains out

Houston Texans WR Will Fuller (groin) remained out of practice Thursday, Dec. 26, as he deals with a groin injury suffered in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fuller is questionable at best for the wild card round and he has proven to be a key player for the Texans offense. DeAndre Carter and Keke Coutee will see more snaps while he's out.

CIN - QB Andy Dalton hopes to start in 2020

    Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton said he hopes to be the starting quarterback for a team next season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dalton is probably one of the 32 best quarterbacks in the league, but barely. He should be a bridge quarterback to a draft pick, but is not among the top names available this offseason in one of the most intriguing quarterback markets in recent memory.

BAL - TE Mark Andrews a no-go Thursday

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews (ankle) was not spotted at practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It doesn't make much sense for Andrews to play more than a token series if he plays at all. Hayden Hurst should be a good Week 17 DFS and season-long sleeper play.

WAS - WR Terry McLaurin out Thursday

Washington Redskins WR Terry McLaurin (concussion) is not participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington may be without the rookie receiver in Week 17. He still needs to be cleared from the concussion protocol if he wants to play on Sunday. McLaurin is less than 100 yards from 1,000 yards receiving in 2019. Perhaps he could get out there and go for the mark against the Cowboys.

BAL - RB Mark Ingram confident for postseason

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens RB Mark Ingram (calf) said Thursday, Dec. 26, that his calf injury isn't serious and added that he is confident that he'll be ready for the team's postseason opener in the divisional round Jan. 11-12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens are resting starters in Week 17 which is good news because Ingram is banged up and wouldn't be able to play anyway. Gus Edwards and rookie Justice Hill will split time in the backfield against the Steelers on Sunday. The Ravens have a first-round bye as the No.1 seed in the AFC, then Ingram should be back for the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

MIA - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to face Patriots

    Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder) will get the start in Week 17 on Sunday, Dec. 29, as the quarterback who gives the team 'the best chance to win,' head coach Brian Flores said Thursday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's what Fitzpatrick does...he wins on bad teams. The Dolphins are likely to select their quarterback of the future in the 2020 NFL draft, and their draft position has been altered by the number of wins Fitzpatrick has led them to this season. Who in the world knows what's going to happen to backup (and 2018 first-round pick) Josh Rosen in the future but he's clearly no long-term solution.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders will have leeway

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders, who has the hot hand, will be relied upon in Week 17, according to head coach Doug Pederson. RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) is expected to return this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders is the lead back for the Eagles and he can do damage as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. The Eagles are in the driver's seat for the NFC East title and a win over the Giants on Sunday will put them over the top. Howard returns this week (most likely) but might be eased in on short-yardage work only.

BUF - QB Josh Allen will play in Week 17

Source: Rochester Democrat and Chronicle - Sal Maiorana

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen will play an unknown amount in Week 17, even though the Bills have nothing at stake, according to head coach Sean McDermott. He added the majority of starters will play to some degree.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This follows earlier reports that indicated the Bills will not rest starters. The team wants to go into the postseason with momentum and that means guys will be playing in Week 17.

    Saturday Update

PHI - TE Zach Ertz to miss Week 17

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (back, ribs) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 27, and has been ruled out for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dallas Goedert should be the top target against the Giants, with Greg Ward the main wide receiver in the passing game. Miles Sanders and Boston Scott should also get more targets than usual with Ertz sidelined. He had nine catches for 91 yards and two scores in the first matchup.

TEN - Full practice for RB Derrick Henry

    Source: TitansOnline.com

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 27, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry should be in a lot of Week 17 DFS matchups. He should get all of the work he can handle against the Texans.

PIT - RB James Conner ruled out Week 17

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (quadriceps) on Friday, Dec. 27, was ruled out of the team's Week 17 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kerrith Whyte, Jaylen Samuels, and Benny Snell will split the work in his stead. It's possible the team looks to free agency or the draft to bolster the backfield despite spending picks at the position in each of the last three drafts.

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (shoulder) will not play in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions, according to head coach Matt LaFleur.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rookie sixth round pick Dexter Williams will get a chance to back up Aaron Jones and perhaps close out the game that locks the Packers in as the #1 seed in the NFC.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (groin, illness) sat out practice Friday, Dec. 27, with an illness and is listed as questionable for the team's Week 17 game at the Cincinnati Bengals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham could sit this week if he's anything less than 100% because of this illness. It has been a disappointing year for him and the whole Browns offense outside of Nick Chubb. It is still uncertain if Beckham will be a Brown come Week 1 of the 2020 season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

NO - WR Antonio Brown visiting Saints

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is visiting the New Orleans Saints Friday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown will end up on the commissioner's exempt list if he is signed before the investigation into a sexual assault lawsuit is complete. This could be a sign that the investigation is closer to a close, or perhaps just that the Saints are interested in Brown's services once it is, even if that isn't until the offseason. Despite his antics in one of the most unbelievable chains of events in one year for a player, Brown will likely find employment in the NFL again in the future if legal matters don't keep him out of the league permanently.

MIN - RB Alexander Mattison listed as questionable

Minnesota Vikings RB Alexander Mattison (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 27, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings will err on the side of caution with Mattison and any other player than is less than 100% or crucial to their efforts. Look for Ameer Abdullah to lead the backfield in touches against the Bears.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard will be third running back in Week 17 behind RB Miles Sanders and RB Boston Scott.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard will be getting back to game condition now that Miles Sanders has emerged as a more than capable every down back. He could be a more important tactical piece against the Seahawks or 49ers in the wild card game next week if the Eagles can beat the Giants with Howard playing a small role.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick said he is open to playing in 2020, but he would make the decision in the offseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An NFL without Ryan Fitzpatrick is just less entertaining. Here's hoping he's back next year, and not just because he creates excellent fantasy football outcomes for his receivers.

NYJ - Le'Veon Bell could be moved this offseason

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell is likely to be traded during the offseason, in the opinion of ESPN's Rich Cimini, who believes the team will agree to pay some of his remaining salary to facilitate a deal. Cimini thinks a mid-round selection, perhaps in the fourth round, will likely be the return for Bell.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell's contract is not very team-friendly, but a third day pick to take it on isn't outlandish. There will only be a few teams that will consider it, and David Johnson will also be on the market for perhaps less draft compensation. The Jets don't really have a running back of the future on the roster and should be in the market in the draft and free agency.

IND - QB Jacoby Brissett still affected by knee injury?

Source: The Athletic - Stephen Holder

Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett has had his footwork affected by his knee injury, in the opinion of offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni, who says that Brissett's drops haven't been the same since the knee injury, which could affect his accuracy.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is just one of the considerations the Colts will weigh when deciding whether to sign, trade for, or draft another quarterback, or just concentrate their efforts on developing Brissett as their quarterback of the present and future.

LAR - TE Tyler Higbee has trust of QB

    Source: ESPN.com - Lindsey Thiry

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff said he trusts TE Tyler Higbee 'as much as anybody' in the offense. 'He does have that big frame, that big wingspan,' Goff said. 'I can kind of throw it anywhere near him he's got great hands, he's shown all that. We do like using him on stuff where I can miss a little bit at times. He can make that play.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Higbee had as good a run as a fantasy tight end as we've seen all year once Gerald Everett got hurt. He was signed to a long term extension earlier this year, but Everett will be back next year for the last year of his rookie deal, so Higbee's 2020 fantasy outlook will be tough to determine.

OAK - Vote of confidence for QB Derek Carr

    Source: ESPN.com - Paul Gutierrez

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr's performance this season was praised by head coach Jon Gruden. 'He's done a lot of good things,' Gruden said 'I know there's a lot of swirling reports out there, but Derek's done a great job. He's done a heck of a job for us.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carr can be released with only five million dollars in dead cap money, but the Raiders probably won't go into their first year in Vegas with uncertainty at quarterback. They could use a draft pick to groom a potential successor and this quarterback market will be intriguing, but Carr is likely to be the Raiders Week 1 starter.

    Sunday Update

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette says he's out

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (illness) tweeted Saturday, Dec. 28, that he doesn't expect to play in the Week 17 game against the Indianapolis Colts. He was downgraded earlier Saturday to doubtful. 'Unfortunately I want be able to play tomorrow due to the flu I have, my brothers know I wish I can ball with them, hopefully I see some of them same faces on my team next year,' Fournette posted on his Twitter account.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fournette has stayed healthy for most of the 2019 season, playing 15 games for the first time in his pro career. The Jaguars will turn to rookie Ryquell Armstead in the season finale.

OAK - RB Josh Jacobs ruled out

    Source: 1 No Source

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder) was downgraded to out Saturday, Dec. 28, for the game Sunday, Dec. 29, against the Denver Broncos.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Without Jacobs, the Raiders turn to DeAndre Washington as their lead back. The Raiders playoff hopes are alive...barely...and they need to win if they want any chance to make the postseason. The Broncos rush defense has been a bit up-and-down during the season, but they should be able to contain Washington.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey in line for big day?

    Source: ESPN.com - David Newton

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is likely to receive the ball 'any way he can' in Week 17's game against the New Orleans Saints, according to interim offensive coordinator Scott Turner. McCaffrey is just 67 yards shy of becoming the third player in league history to reach 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Only Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk are in the 1,000/1,000 club. McCaffrey has always had the talent to reach that mark as well, and he's only 67 receiving yards away from doing that. We imagine the Panthers will feed him as much as possible in the season finale.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Falcons moved around some money with DT Grady Jarrett too. These moves give the Falcons about $12 million more in salary cap space. Ryan is under contract through the 2023 season.

    Source: Los Angeles Rams

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 28. RB John Kelly was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A third-round pick out of Memphis in the 2019 NFL draft, Henderson didn't do much in his rookie season working as a backup to Todd Gurley. He finishes his rookie year with 39 carries for 147 yards on the ground with four catches for 37 yards. We appreciate him in dynasty formats still and look to see if he can improve as his career goes on.

The team can turn to Rex Burkhead and James White at the running back position if need be. Check to see if Michel is a scratch for Sunday.

NO - NO not expected to sign WR Antonio Brown

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said a possible signing of free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is not imminent after he worked out for the team Friday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints were doing their due diligence by bringing Brown in for a workout. They want to make a Super Bowl run and get another championship as they've been close in recent years but have fallen short in heartbreaking ways. Outside of Michael Thomas, the Saints don't have much at the wide receiver position. Adding a talent like Brown could help their passing game in a big way...if the team could put up with the distractions that are going to come when he's signed by a new team.

MIA - WR Robby Anderson headed to Miami?

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson will sign with the Miami Dolphins for the 2020 season because of his connection with wide receivers coach Karl Dorrell, according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson is going to have a big market for his services this offseason. He has the speed to take the top off the defense and could earn a contract that pays him around $10 million annually. In fact, some project that he will push for a contract around $14 million per year. Whether it's with the Dolphins or some other team, Anderson will get a big pay day in the offseason.

DAL - WR Amari Cooper wants to be in Dallas

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Jori Epstein

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper said he loves playing with QB Dak Prescott and wants to remain with the team going forward. 'That is part of me liking it,' Cooper said. 'My situation on the team, him being the quarterback, the teammates, where I live. Everything.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys have yet to sign Cooper or QB Dak Prescott to long-term contracts. Cooper is a priority for the team, but we'll have to see what happens with Prescott too. One of them may be in line to get the franchise tag this offseason if no long-term deal can be struck before free agency.

NYG - QB Eli Manning could call it quits

    Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants QB Eli Manning will 'most likely' retire after this season, according to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manning doesn't want to be a backup quarterback. There's no team out there likely to pick him up as a starter...even as a 'bridge' quarterback to a younger player. He could retire as a two-time Super Bowl champion with only one team in his career.

Note that Adam Schefter is reporting Baltimore TE Mark Andrews and WR Marquise Brown are not expected to play. It's a 4:25 kickoff so we likely won't have official word until about 3:00 ET.

Not sure why they would play any/many of their starters. My guess is that they will not play.

I played in a league like that once

I have a work league that does. They started it in 1995 and for some reason refuse to change. I’m kind of happy since my team sh!t the bed last week.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders injures ankle

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the Week 17 game and is considered questionable to return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles continue to lose key pieces of their offense. This will make them easier to defend in the wild card round against the NFC West runner-up.
