NFL Player News - Week 16

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

GB - QB Aaron Rodgers' Week 16 status uncertain

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) is sore after taking too many hits in Week 15, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy was noncommittal when asked if Rodgers will play in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no need to get Rodgers out there and risk any sort of injury. The team is a longshot to make the playoffs (they'll be eliminated with a Falcons win on Monday night), so we could see Brett Hundley as the team's starter for the rest of the regular season.

WAS - RB Kapri Bibbs to see more time

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim
Washington Redskins RB Kapri Bibbs will receive more playing over the last two games of the season after catching four passes for 47 yards in Week 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bibbs could see action as a change-of-pace back behind starter Samaje Perine. We can't really recommend Bibbs as anything more than a desperation 'what the heck' flex against the Broncos in Week 16.

PIT - Surgery likely for RB James Conner

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (knee) is expected to have surgery on his injured knee, according to a source. He should miss at least a few weeks while recovering.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Conner worked as the primary backup behind Le'Veon Bell this year. The rookie from PITT averaged a healthy 4.5 YPC racking up 144 yards on the ground. Fitzgerald Toussaint moves into the primary backup role behind Bell, and we expect the Steelers to sign a back for depth in the near future.

LAC - Austin Ekeler could play

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hand) could still play this week despite his broken hand, according to head coach Anthony Lynn.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This contradicts reports coming in that Ekeler's hand injury has ended his rookie season. The UDFA from Western State (Colorado) has done a good job as a change-of-pace back behind Melvin Gordon. His role would be filled by Branden Oliver if Ekeler's out.

LAC - WR Keenan Allen should play

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (back) is expected to be fine after injuring his back in Week 15, according to head coach Anthony Lynn.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
That's a bit of good news for the Chargers. The news is not as clear for TE Hunter Henry who has a kidney injury and has an 'up in the air' status per Lynn.

LAC - TE Hunter Henry has lacerated kidney

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry (kidney) suffered a lacerated kidney in Week 15. His status is uncertain at this time.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry's status for the next two weeks is 'up in the air' per Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn. If Henry can't play in Week 16, it's a huge blow to the Chargers passing attack. We'd see Antonio Gates get a larger role if Henry is out.

NYJ - WR Jeremy Kerley waived

    Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Jets WR Jeremy Kerley was waived Monday, Dec. 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kerley just served a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on PEDs. He appeared in just eight games this year for the Jets, compiling 22 catches for 217 yards and one touchdown.

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin should return this season

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) is not dealing with a season-ending injury, but he probably will not be able to play in Week 16, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens host the Colts on Saturday in Week 16. Fantasy owners shouldn't be expecting much from the Ravens passing attack. It's the fantasy championship game in most leagues, and you likely have better options.

CLE - QB DeShone Kizer will remain starter

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com - Andrew Gribble

Cleveland Browns QB DeShone Kizer will continue to be the starting quarterback, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Browns don't have a ton of options other than Kizer. They could turn to Cody Kessler, but that's not going to help or give the team a look at a player that could do more in the future. Kizer has the most red-zone interceptions of any QB in the NFL and has basically regressed over the course of the year. Expect the Browns to select yet another QB with a premium pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

ARI - QB Drew Stanton will start

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton will start against the New York Giants in Week 16 in place of QB Blaine Gabbert, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals have a winnable game against the Giants in Week 16, but don't get tempted to plug Stanton in as a streaming option at quarterback. He may be better than Blaine Gabbert, but that's not saying much.

BUF - QB Nathan Peterman out of protocol

Source: WGR Sports Radio 550 - Joe Buscaglia

Buffalo Bills QB Nathan Peterman (concussion) cleared the concussion protocol Monday, Dec. 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterman is cleared but he'll just be a backup with Tyrod Taylor back in action. In a couple of appearances this year, the rookie from PITT has not shown well. He was a dynasty prospect to be intrigued with, but Peterman hasn't flashed in 2017. Peterman will need to stay healthy and perform better if he wants to stick with the Bills as a reserve in 2018.

JAX - WR Marqise Lee to be back by playoffs

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (ankle) had an MRI on his injured ankle Monday, Dec. 18, and he'll return by the playoffs, if not sooner, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lee's absence has led to the breakout performance from Keelan Cole. While Lee remains sidelined, Cole and Dede Westbrook should continue to get more opportunities when the Jaguars go to the air.

DEN - QB Paxton Lynch to start?

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (ankle) could start the final two games if he's healthy enough to play as the team wants to evaluate him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Broncos head coach Vance Joseph was non-committal when asked if Lynch would start against Washington in Week 16. The team will see how he practices during the week and make a decision at that time. If Lynch starts, fantasy owners should consider Broncos skill position players even riskier starters during what should be your fantasy championship.

NE - RB Rex Burkhead believed to have sprain

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) is believed to have a sprained knee and a bruise but avoided a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He'll have an MRI Monday, Dec. 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll know more after Burkhead's MRI. With this injury, Burkhead is likely done for the rest of the regular season. That makes Dion Lewis an even better fantasy play as he should get a bulk of the carries and perhaps even the goal-line work that Burkhead got. James White should get a few more looks as a receiving option too.

Guess I should probably look for other options for Perine now. Bibbs looked like the better back this past weekend.

    Wednesday Update

GB - QB Aaron Rodgers placed on IR

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 19. Free-agent QB Joe Callahan (Packers) was re-signed in a corresponding move.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

And just like that his season is over. Rodgers returned last week to start against the Panthers and did not look like the player we love in the loss. With the Packers eliminated from playoff contention, the team decided it wasn't worth it to risk further injury...especially with how many hits Rodgers took last week. The Packers now turn to Brett Hundley as their starter once again.

PIT - RB Stevan Ridley signed by Steelers

Source: The Athletic - Mark Kaboly

Free-agent RB Stevan Ridley (Vikings) was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers Tuesday, Dec. 19, in light of RB James Conner (knee) going to the Reserve/Injured list.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ridley was added for veteran depth. Le'Veon Bell is the starter with Fitzgerald Toussaint now as his primary backup. Ridley didn't look totally washed up during training camp and the preseaso with the Broncos, but he's certainly not the player he used to be.

TB - RB Doug Martin set to rejoin team?

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin's one-game suspension is 'behind us now,' according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Martin can rejoin the team, but he may not be back in the starting lineup. Peyton Barber had 13 carries for 53 yards on Monday night against the Falcons. He's proven to be a no-nonsense runner anytime he gets the chance to tote the rock for the Buccaneers.

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman still in protocol

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Kelsey Conway

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol Tuesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman will have to get back to practice in order to clear the protocol. The Falcons were without him on Monday night, and it just led to more of Devonta Freeman. Terron Ward got eight carries as the primary backup behind Freeman in Week 15. The Falcons travel to play the Saints on Sunday.

BAL - No practice for WR Jeremy Maclin

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) was held out of practice Tuesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Maclin's knee injury is not thought to be season ending, but most team beat writers believe he will not play in Week 16. That means Michael Campanaro could be asked to do more in the matchup on Saturday. The Ravens play the Colts, and that team doesn't play a whole lot of defense. However, don't get too excited about the Ravens passing attack in this one. Mike Wallace is the best play for Week 16 and he's more of a low-end WR2 or flex play.

LAC - TE Hunter Henry done for season

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry (kidney) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry finishes his second season in the NFL with 45 catches for 579 yards and four touchdowns. While his catches and yards were up this year, his touchdown total was half of what it was last year. Antonio Gates gets a larger role for the remainder of the season. However, even with a larger role we can't recommend Gates as anything more than a TE2 in Week 16 against the Jets.

TB - TE O.J. Howard heading to IR

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (ankle) is expected to be placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 19. Howard left early in Week 15 with an ankle injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The future is bright for Howard and he certainly flashed during his rookie year with the Bucs. Howard finishes off this year with 26 catches for 432 yards and six touchdowns.

DEN - Denver's start will be decided later

Source: The Denver Post - Nicki Jhabvala

Denver Broncos QBs Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch (ankle) won't know who is starting Week 16 until the end of the week, according to general manager John Elway.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Lynch should be the starter if the team feels he's done the work (and is healthy enough) to get on the field. Elway and the Broncos want to see how Lynch fares in practice before making a decision. They need to see Lynch as much as possible as the 2016 first-round pick has only made three starts in two seasons.

    Thursday Update

LAR - PK Greg Zuerlein placed on IR

    Source: ESPN.com - Alden Gonzalez

Los Angeles Rams PK Greg Zuerlein (back) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 20. The team also signed free-agent PK Sam Ficken (Chiefs). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a big blow as Zuerlein had been kicking great. Sam Ficken is a rookie free agent from Penn State. He was cut by the Chiefs in September.

NE - Rex Burhead misses practice

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burkhead is unlikely to play the rest of the regular season, but he could return for the playoffs. In the meantime, Dion Lewis should get a larger role and James White may be in for more receptions out of the backfield.

CIN - Full practice for RB Joe Mixon

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mixon is working his way back from a concussion and the team wants to see how he feels the day after a full practice. It seems like he's on the right track to get back on the field this week, but we'll know more about his status on Friday. He's definitely not cleared as of yet.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette set to play Week 16

Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Eric Branch

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (quad) practiced Wednesday, Dec. 20, and will play in Week 16 against the San Francisco 49ers, according to head coach Doug Marrone.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fournette missed the Week 15 game, but he's back in action this week. Against the 49ers, Fournette is a RB1 for fantasy owners....just like he is every week that he plays.

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman listed as limited

    Source: NFL

Confirming a previous report, Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman is trying to work his way through the concussion protocol. He could be ready to play in Week 16, and his return would take some touches away from Devonta Freeman.

DEN - QB Paxton Lynch not ready to start?

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (shoulder) and head coach Vance Joseph did not appear to be confident that Lynch would be ready to start in Week 16 after missing three weeks of action, according to Mike Klis of 9news.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch still looked like he was favoring his ankle injury during practice today. The team wants him to be at full strength since running is a big part of his skill set. We could see Brock Osweiler start against Washington on Sunday.

MIN - TE Kyle Rudolph limited again

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) remained limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Monitor Rudolph's practice status during the week. It's the fantasy championship in most leagues, so every decision is hyper critical. It would feel better starting Rudolph if he was able to practice fully on Friday.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker doesn't practice

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (ankle) missed practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Parker missed three games this year with an ankle injury. He aggravated the injury on Sunday, and his status for Week 16 is up in the air. If Parker doesn't play, then Kenny Stills would get a larger workload.

CAR - WR Devin Funchess absent from practice

    Source: ESPN.com - David Newton

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners are used to this. Funchess will get some rest on Wednesday, but he's likely to be out there in Week 16. Just make sure to monitor his practice status as the week goes on.

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin misses another practice

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) did not participate in practice for a second straight day Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The word is that Maclin's knee injury is not season ending...but he's unlikely to play in Week 16. Fantasy owners can expect a larger opportunity for Mike Wallace without Maclin in the lineup.

GB - WR Davante Adams not at practice Wednesday

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Adams has a history of concussions, and with the Packers out of the playoffs we could see them shut him down for the rest of the year. He wants to play again this season, but his status for Week 16 is cloudy at best. If Adams is out, it could lead to more targets/routes for Randall Cobb.

KC - TE Travis Kelce sitting Wednesday

    Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (illness) was absent from practice Wednesday, Dec. 20, due to an illness.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We'll see if Kelce can feel better towards the end of the week. Against the Dolphins in Week 16, Kelce could finish the week as the top tight end for fantasy owners.

JAX - WR Marqise Lee idle Wednesday

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lee went down with this ankle injury against the Texans, and there is some speculation that the team could save him for the postseason. Keelan Cole came through with a monster game once Lee went down. Cole and Dede Westbrook will be the top two WRs for the Jaguars while Lee is out.

BUF - WR Kelvin Benjamin out of practice

    Source: WKBW.com - Joe Buscaglia

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills will continue to monitor his status during the week of practice. Benjamin hasn't been much of an asset for fantasy owners since getting traded to the Bills. This knee injury has lingered, and even though Benjamin has played through it he has not looked like the player we know can dominate on the football field. Even if Benjamin does play against the Patriots in Week 16, we can't recommend him as anything more than a desperation play for fantasy owners.

    Friday Update

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman takes part in practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman should be back this week, but the shift to Devonta Freeman in the backfield has helped fuel two key wins, and Freeman should dominate touches again this week.

KC - TE Travis Kelce out sick

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (illness) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We aren't worried. Kelce should be locked into your lineup as a TE1.

CIN - RB Joe Mixon full go again

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We are aren't sure what the split on carries will be, and the Lions could do a good job of stacking the box considering how bad the Bengals passing game is. We see Mixon more as a RB3.

CAR - WR Devin Funchess sits out

    Source: Panthers.com

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

If he does play, we still wouldn't use him as more than a WR5. Even in this match up.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy remains limited

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 21.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy should get a lot of carries this week, and we think he will be fairly successful with them. Consider him a borderline RB1/RB2.

WAS - RB Samaje Perine leaves practice

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine (groin) tweaked his groin during practice Thursday Dec. 21, and was held out for the remainder of the practice. Head coach Jay Gruden believes it's a minor issue, but he doesn't know yet what Perine's status will be for Sunday.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Perine is the best option in a weak backfield, and no better than a RB3 this week. If he's out, Kapri Bibbs may get some run but we wouldn't put him in our lineups. Really, neither player is a good option.

ARI - RB Kerwynn Williams still sidelined

Source: The Arizona Republic - Kent Somers

Arizona Cardinals RB Kerwynn Williams (quadriceps, ribs) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Things look grim for Williams, though there is little reason to rush him back as Arizona is out of the playoffs. Elijhaa Penny will likely start but he's not a great option for this week, even though it's a good matchup. He's no more than a desperation play.

TB - WR DeSean Jackson misses practice

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson (ankle) was not able to practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson doesn't look likely so if you're looking for help this weekend, the Buccaneers can really only offer you Mike Evans as the usual WR1 start and Adam Humphries as a nice WR4 start with upside.

MIA - RB Kenyan Drake being worked too hard?

Source: The Miami Herald - Adam H. Beasley

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake likely wouldn't be running as much as he has if RB Damien Williams (shoulder) were healthy, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Save us Kenyan Drake. You're Fantasy GM's only hope. Or at least, one of their best hopes for a great RB2 start with upside. He has three very nice games in a row and the Dolphins need him to keep this offense cracking. While this is a tough matchup, we still like him against Kansas City.

ATL - WR Julio Jones out of practice

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Kelsey Conway

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will not practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones has been up and down the last four games, with some spectacular games and some disappointing ones as well. We don't think he'll put up his best numbers this week in part due to this ankle issue, but he is absolutely necessary to have in your lineup. We see him as a high upside WR2 this week.

OAK - WR Amari Cooper misses practice

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There have been reports that Cooper is on track to return Monday night against the Eagles, but we would only leave him in your lineup if you have no other suitable options. He was re-injured upon his last return, the Raiders offense is struggling, and Cooper wasn't that consistent when healthy.

NYJ - RB Elijah McGuire misses practice again

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (illness) missed practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If McGuire ends up out vs. the Chargers, a few more touches get freed up for Matt Forte and Bilal Powell, making them better Week 16 desperation plays.

TB - TE Cameron Brate limited again

    Source: NFL

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (hip, knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brate should get the start this week with OJ Howard out. That development will likely free up a few targets for him and get Brate back into the TE1 range.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders misses practice again

    Source: DenverBroncos.com
Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) missed practice for the second day in a row Thursday, Dec. 21.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Cody Latimer should get the start this week with Sanders trending towards being out. He's a deep sleeper who riffed well with Brock Osweiler last week. If Osweiler starts, Latimer has some appeal.

MIN - TE Kyle Rudolph on track to play

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 21, but is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rudolph was doubtful last week, but got upgraded before the game and played a limited number of snaps - still enough to score. Against Green Bay this week, he's a low ceiling TE1 with some risk of ineffectiveness or re-injury.

WAS - Limited practice for WR Jamison Crowder

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crowder has a tough matchup against the Denver secondary this week and the Washington offense hasn't exactly been humming as of late. He's a fringe WR3/Flex after entering the season with high expectations.

JAX - WR Allen Hurns listed as limited

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll keep an eye on this, and see if he practices on Friday. Right now if we are rolling in Jacksonville, we are rolling with Keenan Cole as a solid WR2/WR3.

DET - RB Theo Riddick fully practices

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick (wrist) participated fully in practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Riddick should play this weekend, and have enough total yards to be a decent RB 3.

BUF - Limited practice for TE Charles Clay

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Clay has been useless as a tight end. Most of the passing offense of the Bills isn't reliable. Clay shouldn't be in your lineup this week.

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin doubtful

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 21, and is considered doubtful to play in Week 16.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Maclin has long since passed the point where he should reside on your bench. At this point he shouldn't even be on your roster.

BUF - WR Kelvin Benjamin listed as limited

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Benjamin has been so uninspiring since arriving in Buffalo, when he isn't hurt that is, that he shouldn't be anywhere near your lineup.

CLE - RB Isaiah Crowell limited again

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Right now it doesn't seem likely to us that Crowell will play. That said, even if he does play the Browns are not a great option this week and even Duke Johnson is no more than an RB3.

NYJ - RB Matt Forte remains out

    Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was held out of practice again Thursday, Dec. 21.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's zero reason for the Jets to trot Forte out there at this point. In fact, there's no real value here this week as more than a desperation play which, if you need to do it, we would suggest Bilal Powell, though he is no more than a low-end RB4 at best.

MIA - No practice for WR DeVante Parker

    Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (ankle) remained out of practice Thursday, Dec. 21.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Parker is wrapping up another disappointing season, and we're not bullish on him for this weekend against Kansas City by any stretch. He's no more than a shaky WR6 and is not really worth having in your lineup.

GB - WR Davante Adams ruled out

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 16, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This is a gut punch for sure, both for Packers fans and Fantasy GMs. Adams had been very productive with Brett Hundley and to lose him the week of most league's championships is brutal. Meanwhile, the Packers are thin on receivers. Does this mean the resurgence of Jordy Nelson? Will Randall Cobb get a boost? Against this tough Minnesota defense, we aren't taking a chance. Avoid the Packers receivers.

    Saturday Update

KC - TE Travis Kelce not on injury report

    Source: NFL

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (illness) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 22, but is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

CIN - RB Joe Mixon ready for Week 16

    Source: Bengals.com

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) practiced in full for a third straight day Friday, Dec. 22, and he has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 16 game against the Detroit Lions.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mixon is still a very risky play as the lead back for a Bengals offense that has been flatlining for the past two weeks.

WAS - RB Samaje Perine questionable for Week 16

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine (groin) is listed as questionable for Week 16 against the Denver Broncos.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Perine is trending towards being unavailable this week. Kapri Bibbs will get the start in his place and is probably on the waiver wire as someone who could be an unlikely fantasy hero for Week 16 in a game against his old team.

ARI - QB Drew Stanton not fully healed

    Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (knee) will be playing 'in a lot of pain' in Week 16, according to head coach Bruce Arians, who classified Stanton's knee injury as 'bad.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Either Arians just can't bear to see Blaine Gabbert start another game and suck the life out of the offense, or he is overstating Stanton's injury. Either way, this doesn't exactly inspire confidence in Larry Fitzgerald this week.

CAR - WR Devin Funchess vows to play

Source: Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) said he will play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Funchess was ineffective last week and appeared to be fourth in the pecking order for targets in the Panthers pass offense. He did have an end zone target that was caught momentarily before being broken up, but Funchess's floor and ceiling are lower than they have been with Greg Olsen out earlier this year.

ARI - RB Kerwynn Williams questionable

    Source: NFL

Arizona Cardinals RB Kerwynn Williams (quadriceps, ribs) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 22, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Elijhaa Penny's chances to be fantasy relevant in Week 16 hinge on Williams availability.

NYJ - RB Matt Forte questionable for Week 16

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice for a third straight day Friday, Dec. 22, and he is listed as questionable for Week 16 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bilal Powell could be a solid RB2 play against the Chargers if Forte and rookie Elijah McGuire are out against the Chargers.

NE - Questionable tag for RB James White

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB James White (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 22, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

White is slated for a bigger role with Rex Burkhead banged up. The Patriots tend to err on the side of listing players who will play as questionable, so if you are turning to White as a desperation play, this isn't as bad of a sign as it seems. We'll still be watching the inactives to make sure he's available.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker listed as questionable

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 22, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Parker came alive last week, but he is still a risky play on the road at Kansas City. He does have a decent ceiling because of the Chiefs' secondary's problems at times this year, but you'll be counting on Jay Cutler if you start Parker this week.

TB - TE Cameron Brate 50-50 for Week 16

    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (hip, knee) is listed as questionable for Week 16 versus the Carolina Panthers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brate has some risk, but he should be a core target for Jameis Winston as long as he's active with OJ Howard and DeSean Jackson out. He's a low TE1 this week.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders spotted at practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) participated in practice for the first time this week Friday, Dec. 22, although head coach Vance Joseph said Sanders was 'very sore.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're guessing Sanders won't play. If Brock Osweiler starts and Sanders sits, Cody Latimer becomes a viable deep sleeper this week, assuming that he is active.

JAX - WR Allen Hurns a possibility for Week 16

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (ankle) was able to practice in limited fashion all week and is listed as questionable for Week 16 versus the San Francisco 49ers. Hurns has not played since Week 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hurns is probably not worth trusting this week because of his long layoff and admission that he's not 100%, but if he is active, then that takes some of the shine off of Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook as Week 16 sleepers. We'll be following this one right up until game time.

TB - WR DeSean Jackson idle Friday

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson (ankle) is out of practice Friday, Dec. 22, and he's unlikely to play in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adam Humphries should see some extra targets and rookie Chris Godwin will also see more playing time with Jackson sitting. The Panthers secondary is the weakness of their defense and Jameis Winston isn't shy about throwing downfield, so Humphries has become a sleeper for Week 16.

    Sunday Morning Injury Updates

    QUARTERBACK

Paxton Lynch | Ankle | Questionable | Unlikely to Start

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

The Broncos haven't named a starting quarterback yet. Lynch was able to fully practice on Friday but there are still concerns about his mobility and Vance Joseph will not commit to a starter until the team is certain Lynch is recovered enough to protect himself. I'll update with Denver's final decision this weekend.

Saturday Update: Adam Schefter is reporting the Broncos will start Brock Osweiler.

    Others of note:
Cam Newton (shoulder), Blake Bortles (wrist), T.J. Yates (knee), and DeShone Kizer (ribs) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Tom Savage (concussion) has been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    RUNNING BACK

LeSean McCoy | Knee | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - DNP

Ignore McCoy's practice line. While he has been faced with weather and offensive line difficulties while fighting multiple nagging lower body injuries this year, McCoy's volume has rarely suffered. That should continue this week against New England. The Bills have regularly rested McCoy after he banged his left knee on the turf a month ago. Expect him to get as many touches as the offensive game script allows.

    Leonard Fournette
    | Quadricep | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

Fournette missed last week's game with a painful bruise on the side of his thigh. He's returned to a full week of practice, has had no setbacks, and is not listed on the Jaguars' game status report. Jacksonville has yet to limit Fournette's workload when he's on the active roster. Chris Ivory was limited last week and in practice with an elbow injury. While Ivory isn't listed on the injury report either, he's not likely to take a significant chunk of the Jacksonville rushing game plan. All signs suggest Fournette is ready to handle his usual 20+ touches.

    Tevin Coleman
    | Concussion | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

Coleman was cleared to return to contact on Thursday and the Falcons have confirmed he'll return to play. Dan Quinn is excited to have Coleman's "fresh legs" back in the offensive game plan. Devonta Freeman is also healthy. Expect the Falcons to return to their usual distrubition of touches.

    James White
    | Ankle | Questionable | Game-time Decision

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

White limped through the final few series of last week's game. The Patriots did not provide any updates on White's condition after the game or during the week. None of the local beat writers have provided any opinions on White's status. The Patriots -- as they routinely do -- listed White as limited for all three practices this week and questionable on their game status report. I currently lean toward White playing in some capacity this week but will list him as a game-time decision until we get more information.

Sunday Update: Adam Schefter tweeted White is not expected to play.

    Samaje Perine
    | Groin | Questionable | Game-time Decision

Practice Participation: Wed - Not Listed | Thurs - Limited | Fri - DNP

Perine strained a groin muscle during individual drills on Thursday. After practice, Jay Gruden told reporters he had heard Perine's injury was a "minor thing" and examination didn't show much restriction in flexibility or movement. Washington held Perine out of practice on Friday and Gruden said they rested Perine to be safe. However, Gruden also said Washington would work Perine out on Saturday and evaluate his cutting ability. It's tough to handicap Perine's status but Gruden's Friday comments suggest Perine didn't recover as much as hoped in the 24 hours after the injury. If Perine is active, it could be a reassuring sign Washington feels he's healthy enough to take his usual workload.

    Matt Forte
    | Knee | Questionable | Likely to pLay

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP

Elijah McGuire | Illness | Questionable | Awaiting Information

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP

Forte has been able to practice through a chronic knee injury until this week. Earlier this season, Forte played and saw his usual 10-12 touches. There are no indications in the local media of a setback. Unless there are weekend reports otherwise, it's reasonable to assume Forte will be active.

McGuire did not practice all week with an illness. The Jets have listed him questionable but a full week of missed practice sounds ominous here.

Sunday Update: Forte and McGuire are both expected to play according to Adam Schefter.

    Austin Ekeler
    | Hand | Questionable | Game-time Decision

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

Ekeler broke his ring finger last weekend. Early reports from Ian Rapoport suggested Ekeler's season was over but the Chargers are trying to get him back on the field this week. Images of the oversized wrap Ekeler was practicing with on Thursday were comical. Ball security, pass catching, and blocking would all be significantly affected if Ekeler were to play with that wrap. Ekeler was listed as a full participant on Friday, however, and it's possible the Chargers fashioned a more functional splint for him. Officially listed questionable, Ekeler is a game-time decision.

Saturday Update: Eric Williams tweeted Ekeler may be able to contribute to special teams only. Still a difficult ask, it's the most reasonable expectation.

    Kerwynn Williams
    | Quadricep / Ribs | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - Limited

Williams added a quad strain to his ongoing rib injury and did not practice until Friday. There are no concerning reports from local media members and it's possible the Cardinals rested Williams as much as possible. He's taken the majority of their running back snaps over the past three weeks and is averaging over 17 carries per game. I'll update with any weekend news.

Sunday Update: Adam Schefter tweeted Williams is expected to play.

    Others of note: Joe Mixon
(concussion), Isaiah Crowell (shoulder), Duke Johnson (shoulder), Theo Riddick (wrist), Chris Ivory (back/elbow), and Matt Brieda (knee) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Rex Burkhead (knee) and Damien Williams (shoulder) are doubtful or have been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    WIDE RECEIVER

Julio Jones | Ankle / Thumb | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

The Falcons limited Jones' practice reps this week as he recovers from an ankle injury. Dan Quinn told reporters he saw no hesitation in Jones' movement on Friday and expects him to be full strength. When the Falcons do not list Jones on their game status report, there are no expected issues with his workload. Jones is also listed with a thumb injury but it's not been a topic of conversation all week and appears to be a non-issue.

*DeAndre Hopkins | Toe | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited | Sat - Limited

Hopkins was limited in practice with a toe injury last week and there were some concerns about his fitness. He saw his usual double digit targets, however, and was able to return to a limited practice again this week. I anticipate at least a limited practice on Saturday. Hopefully, the Texans will not list Hopkins on the game status report. Barring a weekend surprise, I expect Hopkins to be capable of his usual snap count and targets.

Saturday Update: Hopkins is not listed on Houston's game status report. He should play without limitation.

Michael Thomas | Hamstring | Questionable | Awaiting Information

Practice Participation: Wed - Not Listed | Thurs - Not Listed | Fri - Not Listed

Saturday Update: It's not unusual for offensive skill position players to be added to a team's injury report midweek with soft tissue injuries. It's highly unusual, however, for a player to be added 24 hours after his last practice and after the team releases its final injury and game status reports of the week. That's what's happened with Thomas. As of now, it's impossible to determine whether this is concern or precaution. But lean toward the more worrisome conclusion. At best, the Saints are telling us they cannot guarantee Thomas' availability until after pregame warmup on Sunday. I'll have more as soon as possible.

Sunday Update: Adam Schefter tweeted Thomas is expected to play but offered no specifics on Thomas' injury or possibility of any limitation. I'll continue to update with more information on Sunday morning.

    Chris Hogan
    | Shoulder | Questionable | Unlikely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Hogan had a full week of limited practice last week after 55 snaps in his first game back from a shoulder injury. He was then surprisingly listed inactive. Hogan was again cleared for a full week of limited practice this week. Notably, he declined to talk to reporters after Friday's practice. That's a good indication he won't play this week. Hogan was very talkative in his first week back, but hasn't been since. I'll update with an expectation of his likely workload if he trends toward playing.

Sunday Update: Adam Schefter tweeted Hogan is not expected to play.

    Devin Funchess
    | Shoulder | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - Limited

Funchess has been limited by a shoulder injury for weeks. He was able to return to a late week practice and Ron Rivera told reporters he had no concern about the status of any of his questionable players. That includes Funchess, who played over 60 snaps through the shoulder injury last week.

*Amari Cooper | Ankle | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Thurs - DNP | Fri - Limited | Sat - Limited

Cooper talked the Raiders' medical staff and coaches into allowing him to play on the strength of a reassuring set of individual drills late last week. He didn't last long under game conditions, aggravating his high ankle sprain in the first half. Though he wasn't cleared to return last week, Cooper was back to a limited Friday practice and has an extra day to recover for a Monday night game. It's tough to expect Cooper to be full strength, even if he is practicing more this week than last. It would take a full Saturday practice to be comfortable projecting Cooper to anything close to a full workload.

Saturday Update: Jack Del Rio told reporters there was a good chance Cooper would be available after Saturday's limited practice.

    Kelvin Benjamin
    | Knee | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Unsurprisingly, Benjamin confirmed he needs surgery to address a torn meniscus. He told reporters he has no intention of "quitting" however, and plans to continue to play while the Bills chase a playoff berth. Benjamin will be limited by soreness and may miss snaps or series again this week but until he shuts down for the season officially he should be expected to be active on gameday.

    Emmanuel Sanders
    | Ankle | Questionable | Inactive

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - Limited

Sanders managed only a limited Friday practice this week and is listed questionable. Vance Joseph described Sanders as "very sore" after Friday's practice. The Broncos' quarterback situation remains unsettled and the offensive line continues to lose players to injured reserve. Despite a significant uptick in production last week, Sanders' snaps continue to decline. If Sanders does travel with the team, he may be active but limited.

Saturday Update: Sanders did not travel with the team and will not play.

    Jamison Crowder
    | Hamstring | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Crowder continues to be limited by a hamstring strain but Washington has not limited his practice time much. Crowder continues to participate in individual drills. While his snap count has dropped to the 35-45 per game range, he continues to see 6-10 targets each week. Crowder has a tougher test against the Broncos secondary this week but it's reasonable to expect 40 snaps and 6-8 targets again this week.

    DeVante Parker
    | Ankle | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - Full

Parker spent most of the week rehabbing an ankle injury but returned to a full Friday practice. Adam Gase told reporters he expects Parker to play.

    Allen Hurns
    | Ankle | Questionable | Awaiting Information

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

The Jaguars cleared Hurns to practice but have yet to make a final decision on his availability. Doug Marrone said the Jaguars would continue to evaluate Hurns through Saturday. If Jacksonville clears Hurns to travel, it's a good sign he'll play. If Hurns plays, it's likely to be in a limited role after managing only limited practices after over a month absence.

    Others of note:
Robby Anderson (hamstring), Mohamed Sanu (knee), Ted Ginn (rib), Marquise Goodwin (back), Deonte Thompson (back), Josh Bellamy (foot), and Cordarrelle Patterson (hip) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Antonio Brown (calf), Marqise Lee (ankle), DeSean Jackson (ankle), and Cody Latimer (thigh) have been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    TIGHT END

Travis Kelce | Illness | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - Limited

Kelce missed two practices with an illness this week but is in no danger of missing the game. Watch for any surprising weekend notes but Kelce should see his usual workload.

    Cameron Brate
    | Hip / Knee | Questionable | Likely to play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Brate wasn't himself last week and his snap count has dropped over the past three weeks. He is also now rehabbing two injuries rather than one, adding a knee injury to last week's hip injury. There are no indications Brate will be unable to go this week, but it's tough to project more than 30-35 snaps.

    Adam Shaheen
    | Chest | Questionable | Awaiting Information

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Shaheen was limited in practice last week but inactive on gameday. There have been no updates from local media members this week. Shaheen is again listed questionable after a limited week of practice. Check the inactive list for the final decision.

    Others of note
: Jimmy Graham (ankle), Greg Olsen (foot), Charles Clay (knee), Vance McDonald (shoulder), Jared Cook (wrist), Marcedes Lewis (shoulder), Jermaine Gresham (illness) and George Kittle (ankle) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Clive Walford (concussion) and have been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

*Note: Monday night players with asterisk practice Thursday/Friday/Saturday.

    >>>> Note: Due to travel and time constraints over the next two weeks, the table will include offensive skill position players only.

    Sunday Update

NO - WR Michael Thomas added to injury report

Source: The Times-Picayune - Larry Holder

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (hamstring) has been added to the Week 16 injury report because of a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A late addition to the injury report is something that makes us uncomfortable...especially in the championship week. Fantasy owners need to have another option at the ready in case Thomas can't play against the Falcons.

WAS - RB Samaje Perine expects to play

Source: The Washington Times - Matthew Paras

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine (groin) said Friday, Dec. 22, that he was 'good' to face the Denver Broncos in Week 16, but head coach Jay Gruden said they would have a better idea about his status Saturday, Dec. 23.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos run defense has generally been strong, so Perine may not have a lot of running room on Sunday. We'll see Kapri Bibbs get a larger workload, mostly as a receiving back but he could be in line for a few carries against his former team. In championship week, in this matchup and being banged up, we can only recommend Perine as a low-end RB2 or flex play.

DAL - Big workload for RB Ezekiel Elliott?

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is expected to receive 'significant touches' against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16, offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said Thursday, Dec. 21, and owner Jerry Jones said he feels Elliott could handle 20 to 25 carries.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That would be great for fantasy owners who have patiently been waiting for Elliott to come back from his suspension. He's an RB1 for fantasy owners in championship week.

DEN - WR Cody Latimer ruled out

    Source: DenverBroncos.com - Patrick Smyth

Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer (thigh) did not travel with the team for their Week 16 game and has been ruled out.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Latimer missed time earlier this year with a slight knee injury. It's unfortunate for the young WR as he was coming on a bit with Brock Osweiler at quarterback. Latimer is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2018, but there is buzz about the Broncos locking him up before he hits the open market.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders will not play

    Source: DenverBroncos.com - Patrick Smyth

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) did not travel with the team for their Week 16 game and has been ruled out.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders has been bothered by this ankle injury for quite some time. He's been trying to play through it, but Sanders hasn't looked like himself. Without Sanders and Cody Latimer (thigh), the Broncos have four healthy WRs (Demaryius Thomas, Bennie Fowler, Jordan Taylor, Isaiah McKenzie) for the game against Washington on Sunday.

HOU - WR Braxton Miller should be in uniform

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR Braxton Miller (concussion) fully participated in practice Saturday, Dec. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller is only a dynasty prospect we're monitoring in deep leagues. Even if he does play against the Steelers on Monday night, we don't expect much from the developmental WR.

HOU - QB T.J. Yates ready to play

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans QB T.J. Yates (knee) fully participated in practice Saturday, Dec. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Yates is going up against the Steelers on Monday night. He's only an option for super deep leagues as a streaming option.

OAK - TE Jared Cook not on injury report

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders TE Jared Cook (wrist) fully participated in practice Saturday, Dec. 23, and are not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

On Monday night against the Eagles, we're not rushing to get a ton of Raiders in the lineup. Cook should only be considered a TE2 for fantasy owners in Week 16.

LAC - Austin Ekeler likely limited to special teams

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Clay

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hand) is not expected to have a role on offense in Week 16 against the New York Jets if he is active, according to ESPN's Eric D. Williams.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers will use Melvin Gordon as much as possible. If they need a change of pace, then we could see more touches for Branden Oliver with Ekeler banged up.

JAX - WR Jaelen Strong promoted

    Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Jaelen Strong was added to the active roster Saturday, Dec. 23. WR Larry Pinkard (concussion) was waived with an injury designation in a corresponding move.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Jaguars need more depth at the position with Pinkard's injury and with Marqise Lee (ankle) being down for 'some time' as this team gets ready for the postseason. In Week 16, the top receiving trio should be Allen Hurns, Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook.

    Monday Update

MIA - RB Kenyan Drake has mediocre showing

    Source: The Associated Press

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake rushed 13 times for 57 yards in Week 16 against the Kansas City Chiefs and he did not have a catch on three targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Drake was a receiving and running force for the last three weeks heading into Week 16, but he was contained by the Chiefs defense which is always stronger at home this year. He could be a draft pick on the rise next year if the Dolphins don't make any additions to their backfield, although the team indicated that they did not want to work him as hard as they did since Damien Williams went down.

KC - RB Kareem Hunt totals 106 yards, TD

    Source: The Associated Press

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt rushed 29 times for 91 yards and a touchdown in the Week 16 game against the Miami Dolphins and he added four grabs for 15 yards on his four targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunt had a long mid-season drought after being the most valuable fantasy player of September, but he redeemed himself in December. He could be a first-round fantasy draft pick next year, especially if he has a strong playoffs for the division champ Chiefs.

KC - QB Alex Smith goes over 300 yards

    Source: The Associated Press

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith completed 25 of his 39 pass attempts for 304 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 16 against the Miami Dolphins and he also ran four times for 13 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith came through as a high floor in a matchup with a defense has had some ups and downs this year. He'll have another chance to answer questions about his ability to throw downfield and threaten defenses vertically in the playoffs.

DET - TE Eric Ebron posts 83 yards, TD

    Source: The Associated Press

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron finished with five receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron has come back in a big way after a very difficult mid-season stretch that saw him get benched and lose the confidence of his team. He'll be a coveted free agent next year after his strong November and December.

DET - QB Matthew Stafford so-so in Week 16

    Source: The Associated Press

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 19 of his 35 pass attempts for 203 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stafford had one of his worst games of the year in the biggest week on the fantasy calendar. A lot of fantasy teams depending on Stafford and the Detroit Lions both saw their seasons end on this rough and surprising afternoon.

CIN - RB Giovani Bernard shines as replacement

    Source: The Associated Press

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed 23 times for 116 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 against the Detroit Lions and he added seven receptions for 52 yards on seven targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bernard was outstanding in relief of Joe Mixon, as the Bengals running game showed signs of life in the second half of the year. Mixon was drafted as an everydown back, but Bernard's performance while Mixon has been sidelined should merit more work next year.

TEN - RB DeMarco Murray diagnosed with sprain

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (knee) was diagnosed with a lateral collateral ligament sprain, a source said Sunday, Dec. 24. That's the initial diagnosis, although he'll have an MRI on Monday, Dec. 25, to confirm.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's hard to see him playing in the game at Jacksonville next week or in a wild card game if the Titans can win next week. He's likely going to be released with a 6.25 million dollar price tag next year.

TEN - WR Corey Davis rolls for 91 yards

    Source: The Associated Press

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis tied a career best with six grabs with posting a career-high 91 yards in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams on nine targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis finally had a good game after fantasy owners had given up on the #5 overall pick. The first half of his season was lost with a hamstring injury and he looked off for long stretches of the second half of the season. He could still make an impact on the Titans playoff hopes and in the postseason if they make it.

NYJ - RB Bilal Powell has monster game

    Source: NFL.com

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Powell was a Week 16 stud against the odds of playing in three-way backfield against the Chargers. The coaching staff doesn't seem to favor Powell, but this is the second straight year that he has had big plays and production in more than one game when he actually got the opportunity. The Jets may not choose to keep the 29-year-old at a price of four million dollars.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey totals 11 touches

    Source: The Associated Press

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed nine times for 39 yards in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he added two receptions for 19 yards on four targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Like the rest of the Panthers offense, McCaffrey didn't make any splashy plays and came in under expectations in what looked like a good home matchup. The Panthers offense is still trying to find its identity as they head to the playoffs.

TB - Peyton Barber leads backfield

    Source: The Associated Press

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber had a team-high 13 rushes for 51 yards in Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers while adding two receptions for four yards on his two targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barber had one breakaway run early, but was mostly ineffective after that. The Bucs backfield is about to be thrown into disarray this offseason, but Barber might have endeared himself enough with his play late this year to be a part of it in 2018.

TB - QB Jameis Winston throws for 367 yards, TD

    Source: The Associated Press

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston completed 21 of his 27 pass attempts for 367 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 16 game against the Carolina Panthers. He also lost three fumbles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Winston was very effective, but lost two fumbles on sacks and had trouble finishing drives with touchdown passes. He has righted the ship after a rough first half and shoulder injury.

CHI - Two touchdowns for RB Jordan Howard

    Source: NFL.com

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard rushed for 44 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard wasn't very effective except when the end zone was in sight, which is good enough for his owners. The Bears commitment to run kept Howard in the range of fantasy relevance and kept his weekly ceiling high through ups and downs this year. He could struggle next week against the Vikings, as long as they have something to play for.

CLE - RB Duke Johnson productive in passing game

    Source: NFL.com
Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson caught seven passes for 81 yards against the Chicago Bears in Week 16. He also rushed for 20 yards on four carries during the game.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Johnson has been a steady PPR running back while the Browns offense has been crumbling around him. He could have a higher weekly ceiling if the Browns don't bring back Isaiah Crowell, but he could also be joined by Saquon Barkley. Either way, Johnson's best football is still ahead of him.
