    Fantasy football draft advice

I have pick 5 today...assuming Foster, rice, McCoy, and Rodgers are the first 4 off the board, who should I go with? Tom Brady, McFadden, Johnson?

Agreed, but then i'd take Graham or Gronk in round 2 if they fall. Get your RB in round 3 and 4.

I wouldn't take a QB in the first. The point differential is much bigger between top WR/RBs compared to QB's at it is to late rounders.

IE. Get one of the top tier players, Foster, Rice, McCoy, Rodgers, Megatron, then come back with a solid RB as your second pick. You can get a good QB in the 5th or 6th.

Risky taking McFadden but I'd do it. The guy has a legit shot at being the best fantasy player if healthy and I'm not really sold on any RB left after Foster, McCoy, Rice, and McFadden.

Calvin is a solid pick @ 5. Also, CJ - Chris johnson will have a big year. McFadden too injury prone for #5

you can't be serious. no rb until round 3? taking a wr,te combo in the first 2 rounds is a recipe for disaster. I can understand Calvin Johnson but TE is way too deep and I wouldn't take Graham or Gronk unless I already got a solid RB in the first round

I didn't take an RB untill the 3rd round in my 12 man league draft and ended up with Lynch. I was very pleased how things turned out.

People say qb is deep, but how many rbs will play all 16 games or finish the season. Take the guy who will be standing at the end of the season with your first pick.

Calvin might have the Madden curse
    Superstition aside

Here's a rule you should commit to memory:Never ever take a wide receiver before the eighth pick
Done about 30 of these for money in the last 14 years I've done this and nobody, and I mean nobody has ever won a league taking a wide receiver in the first round

Calvin Johnson is the biggest trap this year.
Let somebody else screw their draft up and overpay for him

    I'd be careful with that
Depends on the scoring of the league, sometimes

You can win a lot of games with a really good quarterback
    And a shit team

Wide Receivers help, but you don't see them wining you games by themselves, very much

but then again, it depends how the league scores them

Agreed. Those top 3 QB's will put medicore teams in the playoffs depending on the settings. If you land one of the top 3 QB's - and a pass TD counts for 6 instead of 4 - you very quickly set yourself apart from the middle QB's.

That is a common setting adjustment.

Their may be parody at the running back position, no argument here

    But you can't draft scared,
if you're early running back goes to shit, well you're season is over.
You're wide receiver won't bail you out, that's for sure

I never heard"thank god I got Jerry Rice with the 5th pick"
or "thank god Terrel Owens was still there @ #5"
    or Tory Holt
    or Marvin Harrison
    or Randy Moss

Those guys would have monster years, but they never left early 1st round.
    Not if their owners won

my league pays for WR, RB and QB of the year and week so its not bad to take someone that is going to get you money every couple weeks or at the end of the year.

Oakland will throw alot with Palmer this year and I don't like Mcfadden unless he falls far enough. Oakland Wide Receivers are worth a look towards the end of the draft. As far as QB I wouldn't reach unless they fall a couple spots. I owned Brees on a team last year and guy had a monster year however I ended up being very thin at RB not to mention I had wasted an early pick on Hillis and I ended up being bounced in the first round of playoffs. And gotta agree with the WR rule. I haven't taken Calvin Johnson in the first round in a single mock and I wouldn't do it unless I was drafting bottom 3 of the first round so I can grab a RB early 2nd round. As far as TE I haven't drafted a TE before 7th round in mocks yet. The position is as deep as ever. I personally draft 2 Tight Ends in case my first choice TE starts slow.

    Brady or Brees

...and screw taking TE in 1st 2 rounds, not a chance Gronk and Graham will repeat their career years.

Take your top tier QB since there are only 2 more available, then get 2 RBs in next two rounds

Very likely Graham repeats. Less likely Gronk repeats those numbers, but he can easily put up RB2 type numbers.

If I am picking 5th, I am going with either Brady/Brees or Calvin. You can get a tier 2 RB on the turn - and the only RB's available at 5 most likely are tier 2 RB's.

Hope Tom goes early, and a top 3 RB falls to 5 - that happens often.

Best place to pick this year is 4th.

No, its mindless is what it is

You get the best running back in the draft is what happens.
But you have to wait a while before you get 2 picks
Its tedious, but if you know what you're doing, you can win your league going 1st overall

12 of 12 can be really awesome

#1, you're sizing up everybody in the first round and seeing who the phuckin idiots are
then, when it gets to you, all the 1st round value falls to you

i.e. their's another thread where a guy drafted a phuckin tight end in the 1st round at #10, well in that case, you just got yourself a running back or a quarterback that you really don't deserve.
Guys drafting early 1st, sometimes get really jealous of you because of all the first round value that falls to you because you probably will have at least two knuckleheads with some kind of phucked up strategy, and they end up gift-wrapping 2 players to you, that you shouldn't have

Rake in value at 3-4(#2 RB,#1QB, #1,#2 WR-whatever value is best at that time)

5-6,look to see if your early sleeper might be coming up, fill up on depth move on Study the guy who has #11, look at his roster and know what he needs, so you know who not to let him take when it comes to you

Were you drinking during this draft? You look like you will finish close to last. No unit has a top tier player, except for ray rice.
