He's a Jersey boy, played HS for Ramapo, then was the Head Coach for Ramapo.
Ramapo is in what we call the football region of New Jersey, Bergen County in North Jersey. (Bill Parcells is also from Bergen County, he's from Englewood NJ)
Bergen County has sent dozens of players to the NFL, that area for what ever reason is notorious for developing those big beefy 300 pound linemen.
Most of the powerhouse HS football teams are in Bergen County (Bergen Catholic, River Dell, Ramapo, Englewood, etc. etc.)
You can't really fault Schiano for leaving Rutgers to see if he can coach in the NFL.
Most college head coaches have the same dream.
The Bucs job didn't work out, it was a bad fit.
Being a good NCAA head coach doesn't always translate into being a good NFL head coach.
Saban who many consider the greatest NCAA Head Coach of all time owns a losing record in the NFL, just like Schiano.Points Awarded:
