Week 1 NCAAF Picks with analysis

Creating this thread so we can read others analysis.

    2018 Record 0-1 ROI: -100%

Lets get our first wins of the season

    Take Rice with the candy

Rice is not a beautiful team this season but they will make money ATS. Mike Bloomgren has said he wants to establish the run game first. This will be excellent for the Owls as they struggled last year with turnovers averaging a -1.9 turnover margin per game. The defense should also be better after permitting a 70% completion rate last year. Two of the most volatile stats, turnover margin and completion rate, will have positive regression this year making rice a good team ATS.
Pick: Rice Owls +26.5 (Heritage -103)

Fade Scott Frost and take Akron
Significant overreaction to Scott Frost arriving to Nebraska with the line moving from -20.5 to -26. This line is also hard to understand with Adrian Martinez a true freshman starting at the QB position for the Cornhuskers. For Akron they have finally found a starting QB in sophomore Karo Nelson who was really good at the end of last season. The Zips also have most of their defense back making them a hard team to beat specially by three touchdowns.
Pick: Akron Zips +26 (Heritage -104)

    North Carolina to surprise California
North Carolina offense supporting cast will be strong this season and with Nathan Elliott (QB) in control UNC offensewill be amazing. On the defensive side, the Tar Heels were plagued by injuries last year giving them a significant and unexpected boost this season. With just three starters returning on the defensive line, the Golden Bears wont be able to control UNC offense.
Pick: North Carolina Tar Heels +7.5 (Pinnacle -108)

No Lamar Jackson should be no problem to Louisville
Louisville lost Lamar Jackson their best QB in school history. That doesn't mean the offense is bad now. The Cardinals have the most dangerous WR trio in the country and with dual threat QB Jawon Pass they will be formidable. This might be a problem for the Crimson Tide as their secondary is full of new starters.
Pick: Louisville Cardinals +24 (Pinnacle -106)
