    new to college football betting

I've always watched college football and I feel like I know everything about it so I'm going to start betting on games like Appalachian State vs. Michigan. What would normally be the moneyline for a sure blowout like this one?

First off, Welcome to the SBR forum

A lot of books won't even offer money lines on a game like that at all. If anyone would offer odds on games like the example though it would be Pinnacle, and odds are the odds would be so outrageous nobody in there right mind could bet it.

I found a way to view the lines from the 2006 season scoreboard-SBR is the best but I do have another question. What does it mean when there is a "NL" in the lines column? Does it mean you couldnt bet on that game or was it that you simply picked the winner? Would there be a moneyline for that game?

NL means No Line, meaning you couldn't get a bet on that game. Usually it's because of an injury to an important player...

Thanks Pags, this is a great site to use before placing bets.
I was wondering what you guys think the line will be for Souteast Missouri State at Cincinnati this year Week 1. Cincinnati is a lock to win but there not ranked as high as Louisville or West Virginia. If a top 25 team like West VA or Louisville played SE Missouri State the line would be set at -35 and the moneyline would be like -3000. For a game like SE Missouri State at Cincinnati what do you think the line would be? I tried to check the 2006Week 1 games similar to this one on the ODDS & STATS section but it only archived Week 7-14.

    Welcome Truman.

Its not very good to bet those big ML's when they are out there. Not worth the risk for the return. Remember, nothing is a lock in sports.

If you can't find the archived stats on SBR, check out Don Best.

Thanks for the advice Onlooker. I would never risk $3000 for only $100 thats why I was wondering if maybe the moneyline for the SE Missouri State at Cincinnati game would be somewhere around -250 or -350.

Rule of thumb; if a team is favorite with a seven point spread, the money line for that favorite to win the game will be in the -270~-300 range.

if there is a money line for such a game,I usually will be with the underdog unless the line is ridiculus. Of course, that is not very often.

One reason for games having NO LINE that nobody mentioned is the game is a matchup between a Division I and a non-Division I school. Thus, there will be NO LINES on App. State/Michigan nor SE Mo/Cincy!

5Dimes actually got around to posting lines on those games last year. I only bet one, Sam Houston State +55 or 56 against Texas the week before the Red River Shootout (56-3 final).

Wow! Should have figured that if any book would do it, it would be 5 Dimes. But if the OP does not have a 5D account, I doubt any other book will post lines on those two games.
