College football is back and apparently, everyone is excited about it.

ESPN's audience for Thursday's Ohio State at Indiana game had a live audience of 5.4 million viewers. That was total viewership, combining the overnight rating number with the stand-alone streaming numbers.

The peak viewership was 6.5 million when Indiana took a 14-13 lead at halftime over the No. 2 Buckeyes.

The network said that is the most-watched opening weekend Thursday game ever.

It was a 172% increase over last year's opener, which was South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt.

Very interesting. All 6.5 million viewers were from the State of Ohio.
