Both teams are 10-2 on the season, have winning records against the spread, and played their best football down the stretch, as both come in with winning streaks of at least 3 games. During their current winning streaks, both teams have greatly out-rushed their opponents. The Big 10 hasn’t beaten the Pac 10 in the Rose Bowl since 2000 when Wisconsin beat Stanford 17-9. Since then, 5 Pac-10 teams have won.

Oregon, which has won its last two bowl games, is doing more than fine with its cast of comeback kids and its offensive explosiveness doesn’t figure to get hemmed in by Ohio State’s defense. The rugged Buckeyes aren’t soft defensively, but it’ll be a replay of the same ol’ story of not having the overall team speed to deal with a multi-faceted spread attack.

Figuring that the Ducks will get relatively close to their average of 37.7 points per game, the Ohio State offense will have to come out of its shell to keep pace. But don’t hold your breath, waiting for that to happen. Jim Tressel will stay buttoned up and hope that playing it safe will prevail in the end.
When it comes down to it, I don’t think the Buckeyes can score with Oregon. The Ducks are going to out-rush the Buckeyes, and that’s not good for Ohio State – they have only one win when that happens.
